Came to celebrate my dad’s birthday. They had a beautiful sign on the table wishing him a happy birthday, which certainly made him feel special. Our server was very nice, and the food was mouth watering good. Our favourite was the pão de queijo (cheese bread), we kept waiting for more to come out. Everything from the meats, to the salads, and the dessert, were excellent. I truly recommend this place, they have a great atmosphere, food, and service. We will definitely continue to come here. Thank you Minas!!
Delicious food and friendly yet unintrusive service. I found the flavour of the meat was addictive no matter what type of meat I had. The staff spoke English, Portuguese, and Spanish very well. The dancers were good and the costumes very colourful. I will recommend this place to my friends and family.
AMAZING restaurant, food, staff, atmosphere, and owners! This place has it all!!! Highly recommend Minas for any celebration, big or small! Thank you Minas!!! :)
A great treat for someone looking for a different flavor. Food is great and ambiance is warm and cozy like home but classy. Unlike big buffet restos..Minas has a personalize touch.

Amazing Brazilian restaurant with a great buffet and different types of meat for a good price. The food is delicious!!Service is great and everyone is very friendly and polite! I did my wedding reception there, celebrated birthdays and I recommend Mina's for any occasion!!
Haven’t had one bad meal at this fabulous place. We are always treated well by all the staff. The selection of the meats are exceptional and the atmosphere is cheery! Can’t wait to go back for more chicken hearts.
This Brazilian restaurant is amazing! I invited my 2 friends to Minas tonight. It was their first time. The gauchos have a sense of humor :D and the waitress is very attentive; always refill our water. My friends and I enjoyed our time here. I will definitely be back again and recommend Minas to more people! PS: your dessert buffet section is also one of the big reasons I like Minas over other Brazil restaurants in Calgary. Please do NOT remove the dessert section! It was so good!
I'll be back again. Loved all the different styles of meat brought to the table and the food selection was great. Don't forget the deserts, they are all homemade. The owner was fabulous and his staff was so polite and respectful.
Absolutely delicious! Everything was hot and fresh, whatever the sauce was that was with the chicken was fabulous! If you want delicious bbq don't go anywhere else but here! We have tried them all and minas is definitely the best!!!
A unique experience and great top sirloin! Friendly and attentive staff and a meat service that is well worth the price of admission!
This place and food is just brilliant...must try. And remember to have an empty belly to get it filled, else you’ll miss a lot of stuff...:)
So we usually go to another Brazillian BBQ restaurant but thought we would give Mina's a try. We went for lunch and I was surprised that the buffet table included juice, eggs, fried cassava, fried plantains, cheese bread balls, mashed potatoes and other things. They also had some desserts on offer which was a really nice addition. Also, lunch service was $30 (same as most other Brazillian BBQ places).
Unfortunately, the meats were good but just not as good as some of the other Brazillian BBQ places in the city, Some of the meats were over peppered and others were just bland. Also, the variety of meats offered was less than some of the other places in the city.
Anyways if you are looking for a Brazillian BBQ place with an extensive salad and side bar this is probably the place for you.
A carnivores utopia. Outstanding food with a great variety to chose especially with all you can eat. Service was awesome, very attentive staff and frequent visits to our table with more meats to try.
Came here with the family (10 of us) on a Saturday to celebrate Mother's Day. My brother had made reservations ahead of time so we were seated in right away. My brother and his family had been there but my family hadn't nor our parents. Inside decor is very nice and on this evening there was a live band. I was worried that it would be too loud for my 3 year old but he actually enjoyed it. Prior to our visit I saw Yelp had 10% off on your first visit when you check-in via the app. Good thing as it's a bit pricey for dinner.
The family had a great time and meal. Lots of assorted meats came to the table. Highlights were the sausages - kids loved that. Lamb was a little dry. The various beef cuts were great. They also have a little buffet that is included with the price that had salad/veggies, soup, mussels, some cooked items like mash potato, deep fried pork belly, and desserts like cakes and fruit. They also had salmon sashimi which was really good.
Family was stuffed at the end. They do a really great job. This wouldn't be an every week thing - too much food but I think we'd back.
Minas has upped their game from the last time I came here which was a year ago and I’m happy about it. I want to give the place a 5 because the bbq meat was Delicious... I brought it to a 4 cause all the salad and the other side dishes are blah. Friendly service. Nice ambiance. Definitely gives me Brazil vibes. Final thoughts: way better than the other two Brazilian restaurants in town by far.
Great meal at a good price by picking mixed meat plate, salads, casava etc. Reasonably priced pleasant S. American wine. Good service because we were there before it got full. Will return.
Bob
Compared to Bolero & Gauchos, their hot food section in the salad bar area is much better with more options.
Salad bar- 9.5/10
Meat- 7.5/10
Dessert in self serve area- 7/10
Price- $$$$
Service was very good, the restaurant closes at 9pm on weeknights, but we didn't know and we ended up stayed until 930pm. They didn't rush us or even tell us the restaurant was closed. (Oops)
Would come back, but probably on a weeknight again since it is more expensive on the weekend and it's not worth the price difference in my opinion.
Wow was the steak good. Kale salad with pickled pink bits was a crisp light start. Love the ambience and best of all the staff – as they were incredibly accommodating of my food restrictions and super friendly! Kinda want to go back just to buy their in house hot sauce and to try regular service where they rotate skewers of different cuts at your table. Unique electric keyboard entertainment on Sat playing some classic jazz.
The food at Minas has a better selection than Pampa, you get some small desserts included and they have more hot plates. The meat taste the same and taste quite good if I may say so.
My only issue is the service. You pay the same price as Pampa, and for $43 you'd expect good service. I made a reservation for the evening, stating where we'd like to sit. They gave away our table to a group that came in the restaurant just before us and they didn't have a table for us. After 10 minutes, they sat us, but not in my preferred seating. We waited for another table to open up and moved there. The waitress took a while to give us our menus and even longer to take the order. She kept forgetting about our other drink orders too. My only advice to management is, if you're paying that much, please deliver your service. The only reason I'd choose Pampa over Minas is because of their service.
Came here on a friday night. The salad/soup bar was nice. I really enjoyed the grilled vegetables and pineapple. It provided a good break between eating so many different kinds of meat. My fav was the top sirloin because of the fatty parts on it. The other meats were okay. This place is way better than bolero. Bolero's meat selection is like 90% covered in parmasean and always dry. May come back to minas but not often as it is expensive. Service was just meh. Had to call her over several times to pick up plates and fill up water glasses. Also dissapointed as the sign outside said 10% off but was not given to us. I only remembered after we paid and left.
It is a buffet for lunch and dinner but the meat are being serve in batches and being sliced for you on your plate. So to begin, we had salad, seafood, rice and beans then we head back to our table. And then the restaurant have these 2 triangle chips that you need to flip as a signal to the servers. Flip on the green if you want to have meat, then flip on the red side if you want to slow down for awhile. So they serve beef hip, spicy and non-spicy sausage, pork shoulder, chicken heart, ribs, sirloin steak, beef with parmesan, chicken wings, lamb. So yeah, if you want to have meat sweats go ahead and have a sumptuous dinner here. After the main dish, we had dessert it was pretty good too. I had a glass of white wine also. The ambiance is good. But the servers (not the one who serves meat) are too slow to do the service like pour more water, take away the excess plates and even take the bill. But its fine, what is more important is the food, though :-)
I really enjoy visiting Mina's. Haven't had any issues, food is always tasty and service is always great. I did however visit last Sunday at lunch. There was a celebration or something going on and live music. Normally that's something I wouldn't mind but in such a small venue it was very loud and difficult to have a conversation at the table. Not sure this is a regular thing but if I had to choose I'd say no live music. That was the only time it's happened in all the times I've been there. All in all, Mina's is still an enjoyable place to have Brazilian.
By far the best Brazilian Steakhouse in town. Awesome staff and amazing food. Meat and Salad bar was fresh and plentyful. Will come back often.
Great drinks, food and service. The Latin American experience was enhanced with the Argentina v. Chile Copa America game during dinner with fans on both sides.
It has been ridiculous of how many birthday functions I'm having this year. Minas was picked on a suggestion of a friend. My friend and I looked it up, and it looked like a pretty good place to celebrate. This place had a very cozy feeling upon entering. There were 10 of us altogether, and we were seated in a little private section by the hot and cold sides bar. I made reservations on Saturday at 6pm. About half of the restaurant was full when I arrived. Once everyone arrived, we were giving the run down of how everything worked by the very nice server that will be tending to us, and we were free to grab our sides before the meat started coming around. The server and service here is very good. Our water glasses were constantly re-filled and bottles of water were left on our table. Once we were slowing down, a couple of the Passadores, the carvers, asked what type of meat we still want and was right back at the table as soon as the requested meats were done.
I've been to this restaurant several times its one of my favorite places I love it! Its the best place to go to for a Brazilian steakhouse! The meat is good and the salad bar is amazing they don't cheap out like most other Brazilian places. Would recommend to anyone who loves meat!
Super delicious and very welcoming service. The atmosphere is super "home-y" and nice. All the meat was cooked to the perfect juiciness and the sides are also really good. I must say the mashed potatoes are also good but can fill you up so make sure you get a lot of meat first.
I had gone before for a company lunch and quite enjoyed the experience and decided to try their weekday lunch with my girlfriend as well. Second time was just as good as the first. Along side all their delicious meat offerings available regularly right at your table side, they also have a decent selection of hot food, salad bar, and an assortment of desserts. Service was quick and friendly, even at busy lunch rushes. Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend to those who are meat lovers or have never tried Brazilian style BBQ before. Their weekday lunch/weekend brunch option is quite affordable offering most of their dinner items at a lower price.
I like how this place is near the park, and I can go for a walk after my lunch. Great staff and food selection. I think I only had one piece of tough meat of the countless times I've been there. Highly recommended! I hope this place keeps doing well. It's such a hidden gem in the Eau Claire area.
Went there for a friend birthday. Very good services there. The amount and variety of meat was great, mixed of pork beef chicken and lamb. Wish there is more options for salads and dessert, but the main meal was very tasty
Loved the sides/desserts! Service was lovely! Brought my parents here and they enjoyed the dancing/entertainment and my mum especially enjoyed the chorizo. Some time had passed and my father had not returned to our table....only to find him chatting with one of the chefs about which sides to try and the foods etc ... This restaurant really put a smile on my face :) much better than the other Brazilian BBQ restaurants in Calgary !
This is our first Brazilian style "all you can eat", and it was a very positive experience.
We went to Minas for lunch, and being our first time there we had a challenge in finding the place (it is across from Eau Claire, in the new condos, on the side).
No reservations were made, but it would be wise to make reservations; when we went it was busy but being only 2 people we were quickly accommodated. The waitress seated but right beside the buffet line (bonus !).
They asked if we were there before, we responded "no". Our waitress gave us a quick run down, the die had a red and green side, green meaning you want more meat and red meaning stop. When the servers come around to cut meat, use the tongs provided to grab the meat onto your plate.
The buffet line had lots of goodies, from deep fried cassava (looked like steak cut fries), beef stew, and some kind of chicken stew. However, when you go there the main reason is meat, and there were lots of meat ! From beef, pork, and chicken, it was a carnivores paradise.
I really enjoyed the chicken hearts/wings, the beef was cooked to perfection (the fat part had a nice thin crunch while the meat was rare), and the pork was nice soft and juicy.
Service was really good, however one note : we had to ask for refills on our water, no biggie though.
It is on the pricey side, for 2 it was around $50, but with the price of beef we definitely loaded on the beef to make it worthwhile.
Will definitely be back, excellent food and good service it was a positive dining experience.
With Calgary now having 4 Brazilian restaurants, there are choices. Each with their own pros/cons. Minas is one of the newer ones in Calgary. It shows they did some research and work to be the best. The service was incredible. Drinks never ran empty. They had live entertainment with dancers which really shocked us and enlightened the atmosphere even more. The buffet portion was a fair size with lots to offer and can easily fill up and forget there is a smorgasbord of meat to come. They had 14 different meat choices come around and each one was cooked to perfection. I can tell you, when it comes to meat, I am picky and these will not let you down. They were hot n fresh off the grill, properly seasoned and cooked and melt in your mouth making you drool for more. Some of the other Brazilian places you can get overdone meats or little seasoning. We have been to 3 of the 4 in Calgary now and we thought we had tried the best. This one so far is now #1 in our books. And best of all, they had a small offering of desserts on the buffet as well which none of the others have. Yes, you can order specialty desserts (if you have room).
This has become my go - to place when I crave meat :). Really good service, and excellent meat. You can also order from their lounge menu which usually works out to be cheaper than their buffet.
For Calgary standards, this is great bang for your buck. $43 includes the bbq meat, salad bar and also dessert bar. Also, I highly recommend the Batidas Cocktail. The waitress was highly attentive service. We will be bringing back friends for sure. The only downside is that its located in downtown which is horrible parking. You might want to all share a ride in the least vehicles possible if you are bringing friends.
Had a great experience dining there. Only scratch was a beer order was forgotten, but the server was very apologetic. The chef came by our table to make sure everything was satisfactory. All the meats were delicious, and the salad bar and hot smorg has great variety to fill up the plate. All the deserts looked and tasted great. Make sure you come hungry. I think it was $40+ per person, but the quality of food makes up for it
I have been to Mina's several times with family and friends and we always had a great experience. Therefore we decided to host a client event there, for approx. 20 people. It was a real success. We had a separated area to ourselves with subtle background music for a good atmosphere. We were served delicious caipirinhas right when we arrived and the table was set beautifully with various warm and cold finger food: bacon-wrapped turkey, chicken wings, skewers with salmon and avocado or mozzarella, olives and tomatoes, fresh cheese buns, battered prawns and two types of cheviche. For the sweet tooth they had prepared skewers with freshly baked churros with chocolate and caramel sauce. The service was also great, we were never left with empty glasses. Do I need to say more?@
Hospitable indeed! Such a nice atmosphere and they have good service. The decor was also good and they have great choices for their Iguarias. The churrasco part was what I'm excited about. Their top sirloin was perfect! Everything was tasty although the ribs were a little dry. Their cheese bread, caramelized pineapple and passion fruit mousse are delicious! I would come back again for sure. :)
“Are you sure this is it?” I asked Jenna pulling up to the 36 level condo complex on the Bow River, “Yes! Why do you keep asking?” she replied with her tensions rising… “because MAYBE I want to start the blog review with this dialogue” I responded… and thus my review began.
We walked into the dimly lit steakhouse allowing our eyes to adjust. One thing I immediately noticed, I know this is no reflection of the food and should not matter, but the servers were all from Brazil… something, once again, that should not matter but did lend an air of authenticity to the evening (we don’t want to step on dangerous sand here). It also helped when explaining the dishes and helping us to pronounce things! The salad bar was top notch, ceviche, salmon, curry, but both I and Beltline Bites (Aadil) knew those were fillers to stop us from enjoying the expensive Brazilian meats… and when they came… they came like the 2002 Brazilian world cup soccer team against Germany… (I had to wiki that)
We had entered Flavour country! lamb, ribs, pork, chicken, pork wrapped ribs, rib wrapped lamp, at one point I didn’t know what was wrapped with what and all that remained were bones stacked high on my plate. I liked the food, I loved the salad bar, I loved the décor, and I liked the service… but could it compete with Calgary’s growing food scene? Only time will tell... Eating the chicken heart also added a flair of adventure and made me feel like Ozzy Osbourne on stage, which is always a treat. A blemish on the evening was the cost, I didn’t feel like I gorged myself enough to warrant the $50 food tab (plus drinks) but then again they need to protect themselves against the cowboys of Calgary who get their monies worth.
As an interesting side… I went into the washroom at the end of our Brazilian Food Journey, and I saw a man coming out of the stall with a full fancy traditional Brazilian cocktail in hand! What happened?!? What was he doing in there that required nourishment while performing?! The entire scenario just raised more questions than answers, but as I gave him a head nod… and he nodded back… we had a moment where I knew that I had witnessed something either amazing, or terrible.

Very good restaurant! The food is delicious and is not expensive. The service is excellent. The salad court is very complete with different options to try.
It is very easy to get a reservation here, while all the other Brazillian places are booked up. The food is incredible. Some of the meat was a bit tough but overall, everything was tasty. The gourmet salad bar was impressive and had a good variety of items. Its also great to have a brazillian restaurant in a central location.
What a fantastic meal! :-) Minas by far is the best Brazilian restaurant that we have been to! The restaurant is modern and clean with lots of great decorative touches. There was even a selection of Brazilian goods and merchandise to purchase right at the restaurant! From the time our party of 6 walked in, we felt welcome and valued as customers. Service was quick, and friendly! Then there was the food...oh my...the food! We all swore not to overload on our churrascaria buffet items, so that we could enjoy the rodizio bbq meats. When we tried the delicious variety of fresh salads, as well as the hot food section...we couldn't help but fill our plates! What separates Minas from the other Brazilian restaurants we have tried in Calgary and Vancouver, is that the meat is cooked perfectly! Not overcooked, juicy, nice cuts and well seasoned without being salty. My favourites? I have to agree with other reviewers: The bbq beef rib, chicken hearts (be brave...you won't regret it), beef stew, hearts of palm salad, kale salad, caramelized pineapple, fried polenta and the pão de queijo (cheese buns).
Had dinner there last week. Service is really good. Foods are good. But selection on meats are limited. Salad bar isn't bad. Compare to other Brazilian restaurant in town, it isn't bad but more pricey. The only problem is if you dine there on a quiet night, don't expect to taste all their meat selection. You probably have to inform them on what you want. They probably have to heat it up for you. So expect to wait for a while. However, if you ever try Fogo de Chao south of the border, you will know what Brazilian BBQ is. Of course you will cough up more $$$$$.
Great service and atmosphere. The selection of meats and salad bar weren't as diverse as Bolero but the quality was good. It's worth a visit.
We had a wonderful dinner at this new restaurant, at least for us it is new, this evening. There were many varieties of meat served on large skewers and all were delicious except for 1 that we found to be too salty. The side dishes and desserts were excellent and the service was most pleasant. Those foods with gluten were clearly marked though they were few in number so it is good for celiacs.
The food was really delicious, the vibe was great, the place is new and great service but expect to pay lots. we paid $110 for two meals and one drink
Best Brazilian steakhouse in the city. Had Mother's Day dinner last night and it was great. Service was terrific and the food was amazing also. Best meat dishes were the chicken hearts, pork loin, chicken drumettes and rump roast. I find Gaucho's meat dishes to be too salty but those at Minas have great flavour and were appropriately seasoned.
The one factor which separates good Brazilian steakhouses from great is the buffet area and Minas has the best. Gluten-free cheese buns, kale salad, delicious beef stew and grilled pineapples were all first-rate!
Amazing service, great meat, nice ambiance. You have to go to this place. I've been meaning to write a review saying how amazing and professional the staff is and how great the different kinds of meat were, not to mention the beautiful ambiance. I went there once in a big birthday party group and the manager, chef, servers and hostesses were super attentive, professional and conscientious. They really wanted to make an impression and they succeeded. Good job, keep it up!
Amazing!. We really enjoyed our experience at Minas. The service was fantastic (which can sometimes be hard to find in Calgary) and the food was really amazing! We were greeted by many different members of the staff and offered useful advice on several occasions. We enjoyed the buffet as well as all the different meats that came to the table as well. Dessert was delicious too. Will definitely go back and will tell friends to go. Out understanding is that Minas is much more reasonable compared to other new Brazilian steakhouses in town.
This place is great! Within a week and a half I ended up going there twice. The meat is delicious and well seasoned and the salad bar is awesome! Much better selection than gaucho and bolero. I only hope their quality stays the same and doesn't go down over time like the other 2.
A great dining experience !!!!. Went out of our way to go here for lunch today, as we heard from our Brasilian friends that a new place had opened up recently.
The décor is excellent, it's very colorful and laid back, and the layout of the restaurant allows you easy access to the tables and to view what is going on in the kitchen. But the food........the food.......it is simply awesome........!!! There are now 4 Brasilian places in town, well, only 3 actually, one of them really isn't Brasilian, owned by Brasilian's, or even run by one, it's just calling itself a churrascaria for marketing reasons, but it's not this place, nor is it Gaucho or Pampa........
The quality of the meat here was exceptional..........everything was cooked perfectly just like in some of the best places in Rio that I have been to, the salad table and typical Brasilian dishes (feijoada, stroganoff, salpicao, farofa, pao de queijo, etc) were fantastic. Everything was fresh even though we got there at 130. The place was almost full and people kept walking in even as we were leaving. The owner was constantly walking around talking to clients and checking on everything.
We'll be back............!!!!
Fantastic Brunch!. Just had brunch here. Service was quick, friendly, and fantastic. All of the food was great, traditional Brazilian coffee was a highlight for sure. Just be warned, you will eat way too much! Great experience I will be back for sure. Dinner next time!
Good Food and Service. This lovely restaurant just opened up this week. Service was attentive. There is alot of food to choose from prior to having the carvers coming with various meats to sample. The beef was very tasty, the chicken and sausage not so much. We were there late on a Friday evening, and got was very busy. Worth a visit.
Great experience and authentic Brazilian food!. As a Brazilian expat, I can assure that Minas serves authentic and delicious Brazilian food!
The ambiance is amazing, and the staff very friendly!
I will recommend to all of my friends, including home-sick Brazilians.
