Review Chong Qing - Burnaby

Went for a nice family dinner and the food was fantastic! The whole family loved it. Our server recommended we go with the two course Peking duck, and it was absolutely worth it! The stir fry filling in lettuce wraps was to die for. Peking duck skin was crispy and overall delicious. Chowmein was also amazing. Family also liked the General Taos chicken which was more western...but very tasty. Will come back again and again.

Good service re attentive. Value to food portion is fair. Fried rice special is good. Noodle somewhat too much soya sauce. Wonton was good and taste homemade.

Tried this restaurant for the first time. Reviews are mixed so I thought I'd try their popular dishes. Mongolian Beef, Lemon Chicken, Chicken Fry Rice and Mixed Vegetables Stir Fry. The Mongolian beef was pleasant surprise. Tasted great and good heat. Spice wasn't over powering. Fry rice and vegetables stir fry was good but take out containers was a bit on the small side for the price you pay. Lemon Chicken was moist and flavourful, wished there was a bit more crunch but happy with the food nonetheless.

Perfect dine in restaurant during this time. Very well spaced, and menu can be viewed online or paper. Foods were served so quickly and fresh. It took about 10 minutes. The lemon chicken is so unique. It looks like chicken cutlet with sauce on the top. It was delicious and crispy. Egg fuyong was mildly flavored and soft. I expected it to be little crispy on the surface and gravy. But there was no option for sauce . I loved the portion of shrimp in the egg fuyong. Beef with black bean sauce was mediocre. The pieces of vegetable were too big. And flavor was not intense enough compare to the color of sauce. Overall, it was good dining experience. We will visit again for other cuisines as well :)

Bought a whole Peking duck and it looked like they only gave us half. The meat was not cut nicely, looked like regular bbq meat. Paid $36. Making it at home is better.

Used to love coming here but last time chicken tasted rubbery almost as if it was an old order. Food came out super fast too which was a little sus. Friendly owner tho just disappointed in the difference in food quality from what I’ve had here in the past

I wouls give zero stars if I could.Ordered the spicy deep fried prawns yesterday on Uber eats. Without a doubt the most disgusting thing I've ever ordered, in my life The "coating" was oil soaked and soggy with a dry withered partial prawn inside. The prawn should be whole. Couldn't even finish one threw it out. Gross!

.Chongqing was the venue chosen for our lunch recently. We (the usual threesome) arrived about 1 pm, and fortunately, were able to catch one of only two vacant spots available in the restaurant’s small and busy parking lot.

The restaurant - though rather small in size, provides a decent selection of both booth and various sized table seating arrangements, and was naturally-bright, clean, and tidy. I would call it “comfortably busy” when we arrived, still offering a good choice of seating - we chose a booth at back, alongside the inside wall (and thought it had a cozy and private ‘feel’ to it). Once tucked in place, our server was right there with a place setting needed, copies of lunch & regular menus, and soon after, at our request, with mugs of hot tea, and glasses of water. Service was pleasant and friendly, and helpful (as required) throughout our stay.

We ordered solely from the ‘Lunch Special’ menu, and shared four of the listed ‘C’ dishes (priced @ $10.95 each) — Lettuce Wrap, w/Duck — Seafood Chow Mein, w/pan-fried (dry) noodle — General Tso’s Chicken & Rice — Stir-fried Green Beans, Mushroom, w/Snap Peas & Rice. The hot tea supplied without extra charge.

Service from kitchen to table was very timely, with all dishes arriving quite promptly, in generous portion sizes, warm, and looking good. Preparations were tasty and flavourful. Ingredients in each, quite plentiful, well-prepared, and distinctly-seasoned - veggies ‘crispy’ tender, noodles not overdone, chicken and seafoods moist and tender. All dishes were definitely seasoned quite ’spicy hot’, but none overly so (a little close for comfort for me with the beans & such, but ok otherwise, and quite ’perfect’ with all dishes for the ladies!).

We enjoyed our dining experience and lunch tastes at Chongqing. We had been ‘out & about’ for quite some time (for us ‘youngsters’) that morning (w/shopping and an appointment), were ready for this lunch, and it did not disappoint.

member, your review needs to be at least 140 characters long :)

Chongqing has been around for ages. I remember back when I was younger, I use to travel to their original location on West Broadway. Since that location has closed, this was my first time back in years. I was excited to take my girlfriend out on date night.

I decided to order the peeking duck 2 course. They also have half orders but I decided on full order. we didn't mind taking home extras. But for a couple to save money and just have enough to fill your bellies, half order would do the trick.

Our first course was with the rice crepes. It comes with condiments. The hoisin sauce, cucumbers, and onions. It's a no brainer, build it and it eat.

The second course was the duck lettuce wraps. Again, fill the stuffing onto the lettuce.

They prepped the peeking duck beautifully. It was savory and crispy. We enjoyed every bite. The lettuce wrap was refreshing with the crisp cold lettuce. Zomato didn't update the menu again. Just a heads up that I paid 40 bucks for the 2 course full order. But for this price... I think it's still reasonable. Your getting value and quality. Our services for the night was good. Just a grumpy looking waiter, but in general our glasses were always filled.
Lunch special. Seems like almost every Chinese restaurant in Vancouver knows these two words. It's like they all went into a marketing meeting and came up with the idea that the best form of retaining customers and reaching out to new ones is to offer a lunch special menu. Not just one item, but a huge variety of items. Looking at Chongqing's lunch special menu, I opted for "Diced Chicken in Chili, Sour & Garlic Sauce w/Spinach & Rice. Pretty self explanatory. I think every single ingredient is listed in the name. Plus one for another Chinese restaurant tactic. No fancy names, let's just list out every single ingredient.

Exellent service and food! they offer very good lunch specials. me and my co-workers come here almost 5 times a week.BTW remember to get their stamp card for free lunch. Highly recommended if you are looking for some good chinese food.

Great food, friendly service and very reasonable prices. Excellent siu long baos and ginger beef! Decent portions. Small restaurant so if you're going as a big group, you should make a reservation. Highly recommended!

Delicious food, but the service was a bit cold here. Not sure if that's just how it is or what. But the food was pretty good.

Good food~ good service. We went to this place several times. I like their beef with vegetable on special hot dish, and soup is great and other dishes are good too-I forgot the names but they have pictures on the menu- once i ordered on phone at kings way and went to Broudway to pick up, I knew that it was my mistake but I explained I don't have time to go there, they checked order even though the food already made they cancled it and made new order for me. I will say good food and good people

Went for lunch to Chongqing on a Saturday afternoon. As usual the food was very well prepared and well flavoured. I also like the service here - quietly efficient and friendly. Highly recommended.

Great lunch special. Very tasty and good value. Quick, efficient service too.. Went here with my wife's family for lunch. 6 adults/1 child. Total bill was only $56 + tip. We ordered a wide variety of their lunch specials, including the duck lettuce wrap, prawn stir fry, ginger beef, beef with vegetables, chicken with spinach, and another chicken dish. All lunch specials come with a bowl of rice and your choice of corn soup or hot & sour (a little too salty). When eaten with the rice, the specials are very tasty and quite filling. Eaten alone, a little on the salty side. Service was prompt and polite. Will definitely be back. My 3 favourites were the duck lettuce wrap, ginger beef & prawn stir fry. Well worth the cost and for roughly $10/adult, hard to beat value.

Like it. The food was hot, fresh, and tasty. I mean I went here for lunch and for a $8.95 lunch special with a generous portion of food and a full bowl of rice, not to mention a soup is a good deal to me! Will definitely visit again and again

Great Food and Great Service !. I have been to this restaurant four five times and every time, their food are great and service from their staff have always been great even with kids (as a lot of Chinese Restaurants and bubble places aren't please when they see customers coming in with kids or infants).

When I want 擔擔麵 , that's my own place I will be looking for it =)

NOT IMPRESSED. First time here...and definitely the LAST ! The food was slightly warm....the decor was nice. The service not very west coast! My bells went off when I saw the place full of mostly white people! The food and service down on Kingsway at Mr.Ho's is 100% better!

Great Food. We only order from here...from Boundary to New West it's the only Chinese food worth the money...all they need to be 100% is the Crispy Rice..

First time and like spicy? Try the chong qing beef, spicy green beans and the scallops in chili sauce...the best I've had.

Rude Waiters. Had dinner there the other night and the waiter was very rude, calling me a liar and shouting at me. I will never go back there.

Bad Service. I ate at the Burnaby Restaurant with a friend last night. We each ordered half duck but got charged the price of a full duck. The waiter was rude and argued with us and refused to adjust the price to half a duck. He stated that he could only give us 10% off.

Been here before, food good last time, food still good this time. The staff this time were wandering around staring of into oblivion like spaced out heroin junkies moving in slow motion looking for their next score. I find it frustrating to have to ask for tea. I'd rather go to On-On down the block at least they don't make you feel like a nuisance just 'cause you're patronizing their establishment.

Too pricey. I used to love this restaurant but i was recently shocked by how much they have shot up their prices.
I guess greed finally gets to everyone

Chong Qing is another Chinese restaurant in South Burnaby I often get delivery food from. The price used to be cheaper a few months ago, but recently they increased the price about $1 per each item. However, the minimum order for delivery service is only $18 so that if you order for yourself only, it could be one of the cheapest options (other places require minimum $25-35). SHREDDED PORK IN CHILLI, SOUR AND GARLIC SAUCE WITH SPINACH ($12.95) is the regular item that I get from Chong Qing. In terms of portion, there was a decent amount of meat, and veggie, mostly spinach. It was a bit spicy but not extremely spicy as authentic Szechuan food. If you eat spicy food often, this might not be a big issue. I think you can ask them to make it less spicy if that is your concern. The meat was tender and well absorbed the sauce. I had this dish over five times so far, and they always tasted the same. Pretty consistent. They don't give you the rice to accompany with, so I ordered a SMALL STEAMED RICE ($1.50). They give you lots of rice, so unless you are eating with a large group of people, the small rice is enough for most people. TAN TAN NOODLE SOUP WITH PORK CHOP ($8.95) came with noodles, soup, pork chop and the sauce separately. The noodle gets soggy pretty fast, so if the delivery delays a bit longer the food won't taste as good as when you dine in. Mine was pretty soggy, and it was rather a chunk of noodles. I don't mind soggy noodles so it was alright for me. Tan Tan noodle soup was very nutty, buttery with a bit of spiciness. All the flavourful peanut butter is on the bottom, so you need to swirl it well. I used to like their pork chop a lot which came with the tan tan noodle, but as their prices went up, the quality and the portion, ironically, went down. I was disappointed this time. The outside was not crispy, and the meat was too tough and hard. Follow me on Instagram ! PROS + Generous portion + Lots of food choices + Delivery service CONS - Price went up but the

I'm going to make an effort to try out Chongqing for dinner as they have a lot of Szechuan dishes that I really want to try and the food is pretty good.

Today I went to ChongQing, a small local Szechuan restaurant for a lunch with my mom and my aunt. I’ll start out by saying I was very pleasantly surprised with the taste, the quality and the care that was obviously put into the preparation of the food.

Chongqing serves a wide selection of Lunch Specials for $8.45 and each dish includes your choice of Chicken Corn Soup or Hot and Sour Soup.

This is another one for the “don’t judge a book by its cover” reviews. Chongqing is located at the corner of Nelson and Kingsway, and I’ve always thought that the place looked like a dive. But my coworkers wanted to go there so off we went. Turns out that the service is speedy and cordial, the interior has recently been renovated, the prices are decent and the food is good. It’s better than good. We came here for the $8.45 lunch specials. There are over 20 combos to chose from, so there’s a lot of variety. The portions are very decent, enough to feed you for two lunches really. The combos also come with hot and sour or corn chowder soup, and for only $1 more you can add a spring roll or make your soup a Wonton soup. The food comes out super fast, so I recommend this restaurant for the office lunch crew. And the food is really good. I loved my ginger beef and rice. The meat was tender and delicious and perfectly cooked. The grated ginger had a strong presence and the sauce was thick an

My first time visiting Chongqing Restaurant sort of reminded me of Richmond’s No.9 . They have all sorts of chinese food at a fair price. On the table and in our bellies were Spicy Wontons , House Crispy Chow Mien , Spicy chicken with spinach , and Deep fried bread with condensed milk . We started with the spicy wontons. They were a bit over boiled from the looks of the broken wonton wraps and the pork filling was somewhat dry. I’d say there were around 8 decently sized wontons, sitting on a mildly spicy sauce. The portion could be enough to be a meal itself, just unfortunately, they weren’t very good. The House Crispy Chow Mien’s t opping included char siu pork, shrimp, mushrooms and bok choy. The noodles were very crispy, it served on a hot plate, so it prevented the noodles at the bottom from going soggy. I liked the spicy chicken a lot. It had great flavor, with nice spiciness to it. It was a very saucy dish, and would go really well with a bowl of steamed rice. The deep

We had Peking duck there recently and were really impressed by the place so decided to do round 2. Plenty to choose from on the specials menu, all for $8.45 each and most include rice. All items include a choice of chicken corn chowder or hot & sour soup.
