James Street Cafe has always been a bit of a mystery to me. The restaurant doesn’t actually sit on James Street and seems far from a typical cafe. We visited early one February morning for breakfast… something that they are supposedly well known for. Walking into this somewhat spacious dining establishment, you realize that this is more like a full-scale restaurant instead of a tiny cafe. The menu offering is highly eclectic with a mix of western, Indian, and East African dishes. As we arrived when they first opened, the sounds of what I presume was morning prayers (Ismaili perhaps given the close proximity of an Ismaili community centre?) punctuated the restaurant, followed up shortly thereafter with light jazz music.
James Street Café是一家吃早餐的好地方，它除了位置鄰近溫哥華跟本拿比兩市的交匯處外，平日週一至五清晨7:30就開始營業，方便兩區上班人士在開始一天辛勞工作前能夠享用到一份豐富早餐，補充整天的工作能量。餐廳提供的早午晚餐選擇非常多而且十分多元化，除了常見的西式餐點例如牛扒、漢堡包、炸薯條、多士、煙肉煎蛋外，還有印度咖哩和印度Biryani香飯供應，可以稱得上是西式和印式融匯在一處，讓顧客可以在同一時間享用兩種不同國度的料理。店家為方便繁忙的上班族加設一大堆特價To Go外賣菜單，值得讚賞。至於餐房地方也很寬敞舒適和整潔，我今天是特意來享用店家只在週末才供應的限定版印度式早餐，價錢雖然偏高，但勝在充滿西印特色啊！
It was my second time having Indian Food with my Indian Friend. We had a lunch at James Street Cafe & Grill. My friend is an Indian. She knew the staffs who work there and how to order the food. James Street Cafe & Grill is located on Canada Way Burnaby. The location is not very convienence for people to find, but it has a decent Indian Food. The restaurant is middle size, divided by patio and inside restaurant two parts. Traditional Indian Culture decorations design inside the restaurant. The staffs were very friendly and helpful. Service was great. My friend ordered all the traditional Indian food for us. The food was very fresh and tasty. We also had hot Chai Tea, which was fantastic. It was a great experience to have an Indian Lunch at James Street Cafe and Grill.

Went the following Friday again and enjoyed the evening, for sure we would go again,

Enjoyed, but need more servers. I went with work friends to St. James. We got there before noon to a quiet restaurant. We all enjoyed our food, which included butter chicken, dhal, chicken pakora and another chicken dish in coconut sauce. The service at the beginning was great, but by the time we were finished it was much busier, with a large group of people in the center, the service did not even exist to us. We ended up having to go up to the till to get our bill and pay. As we left we realized we did not get our leftovers they were suppose to wrap up for us..
I will go back and hope to have better service.
The best african indian fusion food in vancouver i love this place "you gotta eat here" good service great people the bbq meat plate is totally awesome and they have take out dinner specials all day long for 10.95 you get a huge portion of food usually enough for three you just can't go wrong. Are you still reading this? Hurry up and go before it's all gone.
James Street Cafe- Review. James Street is an amazing restaurant, they particularly serve indian food, it is phenomenal!!! Their service is great and everyone is really friendly and welcoming. The environment makes the restaurant feel as if you are at home, would recommend it:)
Excellent food, average prices, friendly staff, bit noisy if you are sitting outside (tables are too close to Canada Way). I am highly recommending it.
Took my family for lunch. The experience was amazing. The BBQ aka nyama choma platter was excellent, reminded me of Africa. The host were friendly and took time to go to the tables of "all" the patrons. The mumbo jumbo about certain ethenicty treated better is then others is all BS. So go ahead and treat yourself to good food.
Afro-Indian cuisine. Crispy and juicy fried KEBABS. Fried Mogo (Casava) is interesting. Kebab skewers are a bit dry. Very interesting flavors not your typical East-Indian curry joint. Plus side they have burgers and steaks too. Don't know if all the rumors of the owners are true but foods good. Spicy but good.
