Review L'artista Italian Restaurant - Burnaby

Denis Santos
Both dishes we ordered were really delicious. The lasagna and the shrimp rose pasta. Tiramisu was also one of the best as it wasn’t very sweet. We went there right before closing, so it was not busy at all. The restaurant itself is quite charming and cozy. Service was good but it could be better. Overall I recommend this place as the pasta was one of the best I had in Vancouver.

A wonderful treat.... Have passed this restaurant thousands of times living in North Burnaby but can't recall ever dinning here, so the other night, my wife and I decided to, on the whim...and we were not disappointed. Arrived without reservations which wasn't a problem early one Wednesday evening. The place has a nice, cozy, comfortable aura to it and we were greeted with a warm welcoming. Our hostess Meghna was a delight..friendly, courteous and helpful with our questions. We ordered glasses of wine and their Prosciutto e Mozzarella and the Insalata Caprese salad to start with and share. Both were very good..Fresh, flavorful and plentiful. Once finished, our entre's arrived. My wife had her favorite, Spaghetti Alla Carbonara and II had my fav, Linguine Alla Vongole. Both were excellent. Sometime, some places can't quite get either quite right..either too oily or not enough creme or such, but they got both just right. One of the best Carbonara my wife has had and my vongole was right on... Kudos to them for that..!! Oh we had plenty for dinner, so only finished off the evening with a couple of Cappuccino's. A regular one for me and a Deaf for my Mrs. Those too, were very good... So all in all, we had a great evening...great food and great service from Meghna. We will certainly be back again. Thank you.....

The food was delicious, I had the veal parmesan special, and my wife had Alfredo with clams. Bolt dishes were seasoned perfectly, cooked to perfection, and made with love. Ask someone with Italian heritage from the Northeast, these flavors definitely reminded me of home. The service was excellent and polite, exactly what I would expect from a family run Italian business! While I don't often go out to get Italian, as I often would look at myself... The chef here put my Italian dishes to shame and I will definitely be visiting again. Thank you for the excellent dining experience.

The restaurant closed at 10pm and we arrived at 9, maybe because we were the last one…but the food was horrible. Bread was re-heated so it’s crispy in a wrong way. We ordered two pasta and both of them taste greasy and way too creamy. Almost feel like my grandmother’s wool ball throw into the plate, messy and no appetite. There were other Italian restaurants on the street, taste better…

Cozy, homey, gracious. Loved our 'specials' - delicious, and generously sized. Extensive wine and beer list. Great Italian nite out.

Amazing experience. The food is delicious and customer service is welcoming. Tried their pasta for the first time and we immediately knew that it will b our new favorite for pasta.

We ordered pick-up for two pasta, linguine ai gamberoni and linguine alle vongole. We are amazed by the taste of the food. Takeout is usually expected to be less delicious but their pasta is still splendid. Linguine is al dente, seasoning is on point and the portion is good. Their pasta tastes the best among the Italian restaurants in the nearby area in my opinion (I have tried at least 5 restaurants). I sincerely hope they can survive through the pandemic as we are looking forward to dining in afterwards.

We dine at this restaurant every few weeks. The food and service is always excellent. We recently took a few people with us and they were all very impressed.

We recently had dinner here - the food was great, as was the service. Unfortunately we left an envelope with a gift card at the table. Since we came from out of town the staff was most accommodating in keeping this until we were able to retrieve it. We're looking forward to coming again.

After our brief encounter with pasta at Disney last week, I craved more. This is how H and I ended up at L’Artista, in North Burnaby. We were originally going to visit Anton’s, but they had a line up out the door and we were too hungry to wait. H knew of other less popular Italian restaurants, so we walked over from Anton’s.

We ordered a seafood dish, L'Aartista veal, and Ravioli with chicken steak, red wines, and some desserts.
Food was OK enough, not very great though. (brutally oily). From dessert part, I can say their Tiramisu is something that must-try.

The ambiance was very noisy and crowded. Not at all recommended for a lovi-dovi night.

Went here for dinner and had my test Carbonara dish. It was cooked perfectly. Pasta was well coated and usually not a fan of cream in my Carbonara but I guess it was because no one cooked it right when I had it before. The serving is quite large with pieces of thick bacon. I will definitely be back to try the Vongole next time.

An excellent meal. Started with a fresh clam dish appetizer and followed it up with veal piccata. All four of us really enjoyed our meal and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Very enjoyable evening

Chef lost its passion...

La Artista, is supposed to be an authentic and fine dining Italian restaurant.
This restaurant looked rustic with yellow walls, red brick accents with halogen pot lights and a ceiling fan.
The website for this restaurant is shown as a modern Italian restaurant with red walls, high ceilings and nice clean tables.
The restaurant was recommended by a friend who was with us.

My wife ordered the Fettuccine ai Frutti de Mare which featured fettucine with fresh clams, mussels, shrimp, and prawns in white wine sauce.
I ordered a Spaghetti a la Bolognese, spaghetti with meat sauce. We shared a Calamari Piccanti which consisted of sautéed squid rings with spicy sauce and to finish a classic tiramisu for dessert.

The squid was perfectly cooked and tender. The sauce was spicy, but lack complexity and was runny.
My wife said the fettuccine was one of worst dishes she ever tried. It was served with one clam, a few of tiny, but overcooked mussels, a few baby shrimp and one prawn.
She barely touch her dish. Her dish was $20.
My Bolognese looked bright red. The chef seemed to have cooked the meat separately from the tomato sauce and then mixed together.
Usually the Bolognese sauce, all ingredients are slow cooked. The sauce would look thick and with a brownish color, taking a bit of the color of the meat.
The authentic Bolognese is usually served with tagliatelle or a flat noodle like fettucine. Mine was served with spaghetti.
The tiramisu lacked the lady fingers, it was mostly whipped cream.

I didn’t find this restaurant to fine dining at all. But it had the fine dining price.

The photos of the menu in Zomato are out of date. Add $4 to each dish at least.

We will never set foot at this restaurant again.
Surprise. We've been to L'artista on a previous occassion and enjoyed the pasta. During our last visit and considering I was dieting and trying to limit the carbs I decided the steak with veg would be a good choice. Odd choice in an Italian restaurant I know BUT....... So, I ordered the 10 oz steak with mushrooms and it was absolutely the BEST steak I have ever had. Tender, cooked perfectly ! Being mid 50's I've had a few in my lifetime. Well done folks !

They need to update their menu pricing on their website. Because all of their entrees are no longer $13. It is now minimum $16.

Aside from that the food was a little disappointing compare to its competitor, La Villeta, which is righr next door to them.

Best Fish Soup in Vancouver. Food:
I had the fish soup, it was flavourful, chock full of mussels, clams, prawns for $8 it was definitely a good value.
We had the special seafood linguine for the entree $18, this was dissapointing, especially after the fish soup. Half a can of cream mixed with some salt dumped on to cheap linguine. For desert we had the tiramisu, it was decently average, a typical tiramisu.

Ambiance:
The room was a dark and dingy and a little dirty, not a place to chill

Recommendation:
I would definitely go back for their amazing fish soup but, pass on the entrees and desert.

Need to go again...or not.. There are many Italian restaurants on Hastings. L'artista is among them - dated ambiance with average food, but stellar service.

We arrived late on Friday with no reservations to be served by a great waiter - he knew his menu, was attentive, and was timely with his approach.

I was slightly disappointed by my meat ravioli as it did not taste "meaty" enough. Even though the pasta was stuffed with meat and served with a meat sauce, the only thing "meaty" about the dish was the melted cheese on top. It was an ample serving, however, and the leftovers tasted better then next day.

My boyfriends' Veal Pompei was delicious though! Veal scallopine breaded and lightly fried, topped with tomato, ham, and cheese, and placed under the broiler until the cheese was melted.

We would go back for the service, timeliness and veal, but not for the ravioli.

Hmmmm.... what is the word I'm looking for ? Classy! I do not know how else to describe this place, but only it being warm and cozy with so many people filled inside the place.

...an extensive menu – mainly because all of the pastas and sauces can be inter-changed so easily. They do serve other things like veal, chicken, lamb and beef as well. The menu kind of reminds me of Anton’s and the servings are very generous (perhaps not as much as Anton’s but more than enough to fill you up).

The week before I headed to Toronto, I had a delicious dinner with my mom and stepdad at one of our favourite neighbourhood joints. The place is call L'artista . We discovered them at first through the Entertainment book, but have returned because of the

Unpretentious, no fuss, big portions of hearty Italian food. Good value and popular to neighbourhood locals.
