To put it simply Burro is the best restaurant in Burlington for tacos at the time of this review, On my first visit we were seated within minutes, had our drinks in another few minutes and selected a few tacos. This is where Burro impressed me, I've been cooking both as a hobby/profession for nearing a decade and most of the time when I eat food around Burlington (specifical tacos) they lack flavor and taste worse than if I had simply made them myself. Burro is different, the Tacos that I had (Classic / Achiote Chicken / Charred Broccoli & Summer Corn) all were delicious, my favorite was the Classic due to its cheaper price and overall flavor being above average in comparison to many things I have put in my mouth over the years. The Classic also threw me off because it tasted like there was a hot sauce on it but the hot sauce seemed to lack heat and was more of a sweet variant with a very very mild heat that wasn't present for the whole time I consumed the taco but hit me a few minutes later. The one thing I wished they had were entrees of ceviche, their ceviche offerings are limited to one dish that also happened to be a 'sampler' (as described by our waitress) which is a bit of a letdown as Burlington doesn't have many ceviche offerings. Their drinks seem pricey but they are also fairly strong if I had to guess I would put them at around 2oz of liquor which is a larger shot than the average for Burlington which I put around 1oz most places. Burro also has a great patio, tons of shade, a decent amount of space and it's in a cozy little section off to the side of the restaurant. I would highly recommend Burro to any taco lover, now all they need is Taco Tuesday!!

Last night was my first time at Burro. I have been to the Mule, The Other Bird's other taco location, and was not disappointed. While I do still like the Mule, I loved Burro. I really enjoyed the atmosphere at this location. I asked a lot of questions about the tacos and our waitress was more than happy to answer all of them. She was very friendly, helpful and honest, which was great. I ordered the Bourbon Chicken and The Three Little Pigs Tacos and both were delicious. My party also ordered a fish taco, Brussel sprouts taco, Sweet Potato and Curry Cauliflower. I sampled all of these, and there wasn't one that I did not enjoy! My only complaint would be there is no Queso on the menu (one of my favourite menu items at The Mule), but I definitely will be back and will recommend Burro to family and friends! Thank you :D

Great little restaurant, small menu but really tasty Tacos: vegetarian, plus the usual suspects of chicken, beef, pork and fish. Nice patio (small downtown but interesting wall art.

My fiancèe and I love coming here. The food is great, the service is spectacular, and they treat you like a friend joining them for a meal. Top notch stuff. 105/10. Would recommend. Will eat here again. (And again and again and again)

The Alex is a hidden gem in downtown Burlington. I've eaten here 5 or 6 times so far. I will always order the stuffed wings and the braised short rib (please never take them off the menu!!) they are to die for. We went last night for dinner and our server(the only one on) did an amazing job considering she was ALONE!!! We had a great meal and a great night. Thanks! My only complaint is that your website needs to be updated and kept current with your menu. Please bring back the "twix" bar.

Amazing. From the second you walk in, you feel welcome in this small and intimate restaurant. I don't want to use the term "staff" to refer to the team on hand that are there to make your experience enjoyable because they are so much more than "staff". They are funny, warm, welcoming and help guide you through their rotating menu because they have sampled the items so they can respond to your queries with confidence. We had a team recommended wine. As we were not in a hurry and it was our first (and by no means last) visit to The Alex, we had the charcuterie (which had a nice variety and was served with bread that tasted as if it had been lightly toasted in olive oil) as we talked and went through the menu. One of the off menu daily specials was a butternut squash and pomegranate salad with chevre on a bed of greens in a maple vinaigrette. This item really should be on a "fall menu". WOW The masala crepe by far was my favorite. The crepe itself just melted in your mouth. The vegetarian filling combined with mid-eastern spices. PHENOMENAL! The crispy chicken was recommended to us y someone who had been before. The chicken had a light coating (more like a dusting do not in any way think "chicken finger") on it with hints of lemon. It was served on a "hash" of with potato and bacon. They were lightly drizzled with a spicy lemon butter sauce. It lived up to the recommendation. Coffee was served in a French press; very nice touch. Desert we had the chai creme brule. Again a nice mix of spices and a creme brule that was done to perfection. I shared with the team this was the second best creme brule I ever had with the best being a green tea one I had in Grand Cayman. The challenge has been put out there and the pastry chef seemed eager to accept the challenge to come up with her own take on green tea creme brule. To sum it up, if you are in the mood for sharing portions (which makes an excellent date) to get a wide variety of tastes and experiences this is the place for you. Kudos to the team for making recommendations to other local establishments for an after dinner martini as the restaurant service was complete for the evening. Thank you for making this evening memorable.

Wow! We loved The Alex but The Burro waa amazing! My husband and I tried The Burro for our anniversary tonight and it was a great meal. Still "small" plate style and big bold flavours! We tried 1 of each of the tacos and they were so yummy... All had a bit of heat (or a lot) but just enough for us. My husband's favourite taco was the Chipotle chicken and mine was actually the sweet potato. Oh... Yeah... The margaritas... So good! Thanks for a great night... Can't wait to come back and try some more!

We recently moved to B-town from Toronto and have been dying to find a good mexican spot in town. We were worried we were going to have to travel to Hamilton. But we happened upon Burro on Sunday and OMG! We have found our new date night destination! The tacos were AMAZING! And the guac was so fresh and delicious! They even do their nachos right! Our server was so awesome too.. I'd go back just to hang out with him! We can't wait to come back and try the rest!

Fan-freaking-tastic!!! I'm not gonna lie, we were a little sad that the Alex was gone. Knowing that Matt Kershaw was still the chef, we decided to give Burro a try, and it was absolutely unbelievable! We kind of knew that it would be! Yummy Yum yummy Yum!

I could eat here every day! The sweet potato tacos are my favourite. I appreciate how accommodating they are with dietary restrictions and allergies.
