Review The Sherwood - Brantford

All homemade food. Without question the best Buffalo chicken fingers I have ever had. Cabbage rolls are right up there with my mom’s. I have also enjoyed the rueben. Staff were friendly and prompt.

Came here for Mothers day dinner buffet. Smaller buffet, but decent. Ran out of some desserts, and we didn't stay to see if they brought more out. Very accommodating and nice staff. Little pricey for the size of buffet, but still good.

Bland bland bland. Food was cooked well but no seasoning on anything. It was busy when we went so we didn't get good service at all.. My drink was empty and stayed empty for my entire meal... Asked for the bill and had to eventually go to the counter to get it. The staff were nice and pleasant and they gave us a deal since my kids barely ate anything at all, so that was nice of them to do at least. Nice atmosphere and floor staff, but they must have changed staff in the kitchen because the food was blah

We did a breakfast on their temporary patio on the way home from Paris. Eggs, etc were well cooked and served. Service was a little slow but efficient t. Maybe they forgot everyone wants to take Dad out fro breakfast today? We’d eat there again.

I honestly do not like rating so low but this was hands down the worst experience I've ever had at a breakfast restaurant. I've been going to this place for over 15 years and the food is always decent. Today the eggs benedict Hollandaise sauce tasted like pure butter. Found hair on two different items and the server came over to take our order and to give us the bill. Asked for water three times and received it when ready to leave. Every staff member walking around there look like they would rather be anywhere else in the world but there! Sorry, but something has to change but this place quickly.

Service was not very the greatest until we got a different waitress she was diffenatly an improvement. The buffet was horrible! Not what it use to be . Cold beef and vegetables were looked like they had been there awhile gross . The only thing that really was good was the fish . Not up to standard , will not have buffet again. Very dissatisfied and we brought guests how embarrassed ..

Had their chocolate Milkshake and Fries! Good portion and excellent service! My only suggestion is that they ask how much chocolate syrup to add! Mine was so sweet I couldn't even drink half of it!!!

Delicious breakfast and such friendly staff. The food was cooked well and definitely one of the best breakfast platter I’ve had.

Waited at the 'wait to be seated' sign for 5 minutes while the 3 workers avoiding making eye contact with us. 5 minutes being ignored is my limit so we left.

This place is a shadow of it's former self. Was a time, but that time has come and gone. This place was one of "the" after church places when I was a boy. Not recommended

Everything went wrong. Me and my dad visited here for the first time in a couple years and we were both excited since we remembered it being delicious with very good portions for a decent price. However we have vowed never to go back. Many things went wrong. First, when our order came my dad realized his liver and onions didn't have bacon on it (which the menu stated it came with). He asked for some bacon and the waitress made an excuse that we had to request bacon if we wanted it because "the computer tells the chef what to put on each dish and we need to punch in each topping". Doesn't liver and onions always contain bacon? And shouldn't the "chef" know what goes on his dishes especially if it states it on the menu? My food (fettuccine alfredo) came on one of those small clear plates that are normally used for salads, a very small portion and although tasty I finished the entire soupy mess (mostly sauce very little pasta) very quickly and I was still hungry. I also realized that they did not bring the bread role or the salad of my choice which the menu said was included in my meal. So I had to ask the waitress for this. I asked for a caesar salad but when she brought it, it was a garden salad with a tiny cup of ceasar dressing on the side which I had to mix into my salad on my own. When she came and asked how our food was while I was eating my salad the waitress seemed very condescending and asked if I was going to finish my salad. When I responded yes, kind of confused by the question, she said "good girl" as if I am a child refusing to eat my vegetables. Perhaps she did not realize that I was the one paying for the meal, a treat out for me and my dad. Also we overheard the waitress offer one of her regular customers the special of the day which was a roast beef sandwich. She had not stated any kind of specials to us and my dad said he would have opted for the roast beef if she had offered it to us. Why are they treating new customers differently from regular customers? Finally, the bill was an issue because they charged us a dollar for the gravy that my dad stated he wanted on the side instead of on his liver and onions. He did not touch the gravy because he dislikes it on live and onions but most places will smother the dish in gravy so he is accustomed to asking for it on the side. Very disappointed in how quickly this restaurant has gone downhill and will not be returning.

Dinner tonite. After reading the reviews on here ...i thought let's give it a go what can we lose<br/>showed up around 6pm ...buffet was full of hot food ..restaurant not so full<br/>thought ...oh maybe the reviews were right <br/>WRONG ..the food was excellent and plentiful<br/>perch ,roast beef (u could cut with your fork) ..fish ..cabbage rolls, turkey breast (cooked nice and moist)..great roasted potatoes plenty of other goodies on the buffet<br/>we had an awesome server..PAM..she took great care of us ...even after the place filled to the rafters with customers <br/>its not a huge buffet ...but i sampled it all and honestly could not complain about a thing... soup was delicious<br/>WE WILL BE BACK...thanks for a great meal

My experience. I would like to say that my family went to the restaurant for the Sunday buffet. The food choices were outstanding. Very much like home cooked foods. It was delicious right from the salad bar to the dessert table and in between. Monday I realized that I had lost my licence. After calling several places I called the restaurant and was advised that it was there. Not only are the staff friendly and hospitable, but I know honest. There were many very important personal items left there in my little blue folder but not one was missing. When you go there they treat you like family. All I can say is if you, your family or friends needs an awesome place to go and dine I would give this establishment a glowing review. I know my family will be back.

I have been wanting to try the Sherwood since I read they had a buffet with Pickerel. Unfortunately we got off to a bad start because all the Pickerel was doughy. I will say that the Perch was really good, however for the most part we found a lot of the food flat (as in unseasoned). Well I guess half the mashed potatoes were supposed to be garlic, but they weren't labelled (nothing was, which interferes with my sense of order when the bar is set up for signage) There were also Redskins, also greasy and unseasoned, a few herbs would have made a world of difference here. The buffet was a small bar, offering 3 types of potatoes, and 2 vats of nasty instant brown gravy (which there is no excuse for when you are roasting your own beef). We both agreed there was a major lack of variety.<br/>I thought the carved roast beef was better than Mandarins but my husband took what they gave him and found it to be it was quite dry. I had asked for “med- rare/rare redder the better”.<br/>The wait staff was terrible, we had ate 2 plates of food, one of salad and were working on dessert before they offered drink or water refills. Salads were ordinary, hubby said the Greek was slimy, I did not have the same experience with the Caesar. I had no opinion either way on the desserts (I was probably overfull on perch and roast beef), hubby really liked the rice pudding. <br/> If they cooked right and ran the place like they cared, you wouldn't be able to get near it. The place could be a destination, but frankly as it stands now, it won't be one of ours. We came from Hamilton and we have decided if we are going to make a drive that far for fish we'll drive a little further and go to back Knechtel's in PD.

Breakfast waste. Went here last saturday.Hadn't been here in a year.Wow!!!New outside sign.They raised the prices of their early bird breakfast special $ 6.29.It's a joke.Sausages are over cooked,their home fries ,not cut well more like slabs of potatoes.Same table service,same lazy servers.The owner should have comment cards.But i suggested this a few years ago,The main waitress laughed at me.The place is a dump,and take notice sometime,the cooks go to the washroom,with their aprons on.Now tell me this is healthy???<br/>SHERWOOD....more like NOT LIKELY!!!!!

The food was terrible. I paid $16 for a 'steak' that was flatter than a pancake! You can buy a better quality steak at ANY grocery store! The fries were terrible as well! My husband had their smorgasbord and the food was cold! Would not recommend this place to anyone.

Never again - it is dismal. Our first visit to the Sherwood was a disaster, we sat and waited a long time, and no one even acknowledged us. We left. <br/>Years later we gave it another try.<br/>The service is incredibly slow, the food is nondescript, the homefries (with breakfast) were cold.<br/>Certainly not worth waiting for! There are many good breakfast alternatives in the Brantford area, and we will never go back to the Sherwood.

Food Quality. Would rather eat something at the bowling alley! Not joking!

Will Never Go Back. I went to this place a long time ago and thought it was 'okay', so I decided to give it another chance. I walked in for lunch during the week and there were only two other tables, it was pretty deserted. The server was cleaning the table next to mine and she greeted me quickly. She asked if I wanted water and I said yes; the water was disgusting! It tasted like sewer water, I would never drink that water again. The server then took my order, and scattered off as if she were in a hurry. She wasn't very friendly, didn't even introduce herself; she seemed as though she didn't want to be there. The decor of the place is okay, seems as though it has been newly renovated, it definitely appeals to an older crowd though. My order came within seven minutes of me ordering it. The cheeseburger was good, cooked to perfection and very juicy. However, I didn't like that they put relish on the lettuce when they didn't even ask me if I wanted it. Also, they had an orange and an apple cut up on the side, the apple was starting to turn brown when I received it. They only gave me about fifteen french fries, it definitely wasn't enough. The server didn't come not even once to check on me to see if I was enjoying my meal, definitely bad service! When I was done, my sever was nowhere in sight, so I went to the register and had to wait about five minutes while two other people who worked there just walked right by me without even acknowledging me. Finally, one of the other servers came over and processed my bill. Then, as I was paying, I noticed the cook come out of the kitchen, he was a disgusting mess, with a dishelved beard, I felt sick knowing that he cooked my food. Nevertheless, I would never come to this place again. Outdated and horrible service.
