Review Wimpys Dinner - Brantford

5 STAR 🌟 once again Wimpys!! Every time I come back to town to visit my family I make sure to have breakfast here. Today, it was with my beautiful niece ❤ service and food were amazing as always! Really appreciate places like this! See you next time I come home 🏡

I used to eat here more often but COVID stopped that for a bit. When I went just recently, I was disappointed. The potatoes (which were normally my favourite) were too salty and the place was not clean. The servers were fabulous though - they always seem to have great people working there. Hopefully I will be able to change my review if I go there again.

This Wimpy's had a good breakfast, hot coffee, and great staff. My only reason for not giving a five star review is that it felt like every couple of minutes a different member of the staff would come over and ask if everything was good. It was a little much and conversation was a little more difficult when we kept being interrupted. I would suggest only one wait staff address each table. Otherwise, a great breakfast spot

Very interesting burger (photos below). I had to eat 4oz. of 10oz. burger patty without some bun. A medium sized Kaiser sub bun would have been a better fit. But that’s just my opinion. Lol. The staff was amazing and super friendly as well. Many businesses would benefit from have more employees like this young lady who served me. Made my day. ☺️☺️☺️

The waitress was beyond horrible. We got there around 7 and the restaurant closes at 9 but all she could grumble was about how many customers come in so close to closing time and how she would need to sleep there tonight because of the work load. To the owner if you have staff like this who literally shoo away customers your diner is gonna go belly up in some time. Just incase the lady doesn’t realize customers are what pays her salary. The food was average at the best but it was tiresome to sit there and listen to this lady grumble all the time.

Cute diner with friendly staff, surprisingly good food and decent prices. A great quick stop from a nearby freeway if you want a break from driving and a bite to eat. Beats the rest stops offerings of fast food.

Attentive service. Nice, nostalgic decor. Food was quite good. Only downside is that for step up fast food, it can get expensive. 2 people, no alcohol, $55.00 all in.

Very greasy, no flavour. Very pricey for what it is. $55 for two people. Everything just kinda tasted very bland. No seasoning in anything. Could of gone next door for the same price and had handmade food not frozen bland greasy food.

Ate here last night for supper. Woke up at 3AM was ill and have been ill all day. This was the only place that I ate yesterday that could have caused this.

No big disappointment here, I wasn't expecting much and that is what I got, I was there with a friend and we were just looking for a place for lunch. The service was haphazard, the food was just OK. I won't be in a hurry to go back unless I'm desperate for breakfast.

Pretty awful. The soup of the day was weak and tepid. The big hamburger had peameal bacon and regular bacon, cheese, and two eggs on top. The burger tasted of processed hard funny smoky fake flavor. Nothing good at all here.

Wimpys is absolutely awful, services were nice though, I went for breakfast and my boyfriend and I got eggs Benedict with hash browns and the hollandaise sauce was plasticky, and the hash browns were basically random mush thrown on a plate, I barely took several bites then we left

Vegannsss. Didn't know their home fries were cooked on the same pan as bacon....so here's a warning! Always ask before, I've Learned my lesson.

Aweful. Pancakes were reheated and rubbery the syrup was disgusting . Will never go back waitress never asked how the food was I'm sure she knew but the fact I never ate hardly anything but didn't care charged me 15 for a juice pancake and egg ridiculous! !!

"Get it together Brantford". We have been a fan of the Wimpy’s location in Ancaster for a couple years after hearing great things about them from a friend of ours. We had a rough draft of our experience at this location before we had even had the location open in Brantford. We had such a great time every chance we had to eat at Wimpy’s, so we were expecting greatness from our new location also. Sadly, I believe we were mistaken.

Our trips to Ancaster were made better by visiting Wimpy’s, it is a convenient location and we would always be guaranteed a fantastic meal. It has an authentic 50’s diner feel, with old tin signs to cover the poorly painted bright blue walls and sparkly red seats. There’s a lot of booths available, which really is what everyone wants. Even though this restaurant is often busy, it is a quiet environment with tall booths and always clean. We have found multiple waitresses showed genuine interest and conversations with the guests without being intrusive. The obvious diligent waitresses keep the restaurant spotless even with so many decorations to keep up on.

The menu is nice, lots of pictures and this seems standard to any location. We’ve agreed that nothing is misrepresented on the Wimpy’s menu, everything has a homemade feel to it. There’s so many options, it’s hard to pick what to choose from. Offering all-day breakfast is fantastic, but there were a lot of differences between the new locations menu and the choices in Ancaster. I don’t understand why regular bacon seems to be missing from the Brantford menu and my personal favourite menu option, lasagna. But beware; the Coke Zero is a lie! As told to other patrons by their waitress, “It’s really just diet Coke”. How did these two restaurants become so different?

The Brantford location really leaves something to be desired. Generally looking thrown together with poor paint jobs and unevenly hung light fixtures, this place seems cheap and didn’t set the standard like the other location does. This location has only been open for a month and already there was filth all over the chrome edge of the table and on the booth. I contemplated leaving my mittens after I dropped them on the floor, which was covered is discarded lettuce and food wrappers stuck to the floor. The tin signs are tacky and are mostly sexually suggestive. Which also describes the nature of conversation often had by the waitresses, who also couldn’t care less if we disliked the food served to us when she non-chalantly asked us over her shoulder, or when we left more than half our plates uneaten. Even the parking lot suggests for less than 20 people to be in the restaurant at one time.

The food has incredible value at Wimpy’s, especially with their breakfast options. Everything has a decent price and you get large portions. You can spend less here and get more food than many other restaurants and they have quality ingredients, including real turkey offered in almost everything. Wimpy’s is known for their hamburgers, which are large and oblong in shape. They are tasty but nothing really special, plus it’s easy to fear it being undercooked. I ordered the chocolate milkshake and even though I am lactose intolerant, I felt great and it tasted like heaven. The Brantford location served us food that wasn’t even warm and made us feel sick halfway through but the Ancaster location leaves us feeling full and satisfied. In general, their coleslaw is lackluster. I look forward to coleslaw because it is different almost everywhere you go, Wimpy’s coleslaw is watery, stringy and the only thing offered in many combos. Our onion rings were warm on the outside with cold onions inside even though we ate them first, it was like all the Brantford location has to cook with is a microwave.

Taking everything into account, we highly recommend going to Wimpy’s in general while we agree the Brantford location has to improve on many areas. We acknowledge this location is new, but they really need to get it together. We can see the difference a few diligent staff members make, and maybe a chair or two for those who want to take their food to go. Don’t get us wrong, we are more than willing to give the Brantford location another chance but trust us when we say the Ancaster location is worth the drive. The food is great and the service is exactly what you should expect from a place that serves you food. We always have a great time and look forward to our return visits.

-Quick-RR
Price Range: $3-$20
Cleanliness: 9 (Ancaster) / 2 (Brantford)
Atmosphere: 8 / 5
Menu Selection: 10 / 8
Service: 9 / 4
Food Quality: 10 / 4
Overall Experience: 9 / 4.5
What we’ve ordered: Poutine, Wimpy’s Famous burger with bacon and cheddar. Retired couple. We had our first breakfast at Wimpy's this week, it was the senior's special. Remember Zellers's $3.99 special....its back under a new name....but the portions are a little larger now...excellent coffee...very clean and comfortable, the poor waitresses were run off their feet...the only drawback was there was not enough seating for everyone...a line up while we were there...that should tell you something. We will be back.

No thank you!. Ate at Wimpy's for the first time on Thursday night, not impressed! Fries were frozen, not home made, hamburger patty was also from frozen, as well as the onion rings and way too much condiments on the burger. I expected much more from a chain........ If they plan to stay in business, fresh is the way to go.

Cold store and long wait. Worst service I have ever had so cold in the store I had to have my coat on with my hood the whole time I was there had to wait 40 minutes for grilled chicken and poutine then I was overcharged for my meal safe to say we will
Not ever be back I would suggest everyone go to Angels instead they know what good service and good food is

Great food. Last night (January 8, 2014), I visited Wimpy's, The food here is great. I was very satisfied with my order. Although the restaurant does have a few problems. Hopefully they'll get it straitened out. One of the most prominent problems was the furnace, which when I asked about it they told me someone was coming in next week. Let's hope that's true because that was the biggest disadvantage of the resturant.
