Review Mackay Pizza & Subs - Brampton

I’ve been going here since I was a kid and it’s still great. The Jamaican Pattie’s with cheese lettuce and mayo is the best. The pizza kinda went downhill but I still love it. Lots of parking! Bathrooms available and staff is extra friendly!

Hello fellow foodies today I bring you another fabulous review for you pizza loving fans out there!! Mackay Pizza & Subs have been voted by a few food journalist and critics as one of the top 3 pizza joints in Brampton.  They are located in the north part of central Brampton on Bovaird and Hwy 10 in the same commercial plaza directly across from Rona. They are famous or at least well known in Brampton for their big slices and huge they are!! , great tasting pizza, and of course their Jamaican filled patties a unique twist to this Jamaican food.  They seem to have some great reviews for the most part so I decided to stop in and grab a few slices, pepperoni, Hawaiian and their so called famous filled pattie. Pepperoni slice 5/5 First to say that it was a  large slice does not do it justice its huge compared to your average slice you get anywhere else , as you see from  my pictures I even put a  tape measure next  to it so you  all pizza fans can actually gauge the real size  . The pizza bread is soft, well cooked, in-between a thin crust and normal crust in thickness and just loaded with fresh tasting topping. I  mean they didn’t miss an  inch that didn’t  have quality pepperoni on  it , The sauce was perfect non-acidic tasted like a homemade sauce  just amazing. The pizza was slightly greasy but that’s how I like my pizzas well-cooked but on the greasy side not dry. Overall just great! Great pizza!  My new go to place or pizza from this day on! Hawaiian slice 5/5 Again same as above just loaded with pineapple on every inch and pepperoni, really nice tasting fresh pineapple everything about it was bang on! I mean it just doesn’t get any better than this for a Hawaiian pizza! Fabulous pizza, a must try if you’re in Brampton. Jamaican stuffed pattie 2/5  I was looking forward most  to trying this one yet it was biggest disappointment. I don’t understand how this pattie has gotten some great reviews, It is not horrible by any means its edible, but would I ever order order it again? Hell no! No way ever! Period!, The issue is it really lacks refinement and there is just way to much going on as far as flavors and toppings all at once that don’t combine well. Imagine a  hot pattie stuffed with cold veggies it’s just a weird combo and the mayo just does not work what so ever ,  sometimes simple is better and Jamaican patties are fabulous as is, plain as they come.  The lettuce and tomatoes and mayo over powers the meat inside pattie to the point were you cannot taste meet at all. It’s like you’re eating a veggie pattie you can’t taste anything else. And the cold American cheese that it’s not even warmed or melted is just horrible, just a bad idea, the fillings they add just doesn’t work together. It tasted more like a veggie pita definitely not a Jamaican pattie by any means .Maybe kids like this thing, but I found it a total disaster, not for me. However guys and gals their pizza is top  notch and worth giving it a try ,you won’t regret it and if your adventures try  their pattie you  might have a better opinion of it then I did. Service 5/5 friendly fast no complaints food was ready in less than 5 minutes.  And the prices are just so reasonable and actually cheap two slices and a pattie all for $10 and change plus tax you can’t go wrong. I absolutely love Mackay's. I've been a loyal customer to them for years now. It's owned by an extremely kind hard working family and they greet me every time I stop by. Their slices are huge and worth your money. If you check them out, be sure to try one of their delicious patties!

After years of missing the taste of my childhood, I returned back to Brampton after years… this place is easily the most disgusting place in Brampton … they won’t even change the light bulbs in the ceiling never mind make good pizza…. Walked in to a place that looks closed…. The pizza was just awful …. Never again will I go back to my childhood pizza joint! Doesn’t look like anyone has taken care of this place in a long time!

I have been coming to this place for over 15 years and it's just not the same anymore. I ordered a stuffed patty and the patty was cold. Also, I work for the city and had asked to use the washroom and they wouldn't allow access it use to opened I don't know what happen. $3.97 now for a stuffed patty. The pricing keeps on going up! Won't be surprised if it reached $5 soon for a stuffed patty. This place is just disappointing.

This place has gone down hill went to pick up a pizza tonight at 730pm it was burnt and the old man who makes the pizza with grey hair said it’s my fault for not asking for it to be undercooked he poked my pizza several times with his unsanitary knife and then closes the box and gave it back to me causing a scene taking my complaint personal. This was very disrespectful and 0 customer service will never go back after the way he addressed the situation. He also admitted in our conversation that one side was cooked more due to it being vegetarian and said I shouldn’t get half and half pizzas then. After saying this I said I don’t have the knowledge to know this and next time the staff needs to advise this when I order as I originally said as going to get 2 pizzas anyways. He said that I never tried it so I can’t make a complaint yet stood there defending the pizza with his life, very embarrassing. Save your money 32$ for a large pizza go to PIZZA PIZZA atleast they’ll remake your pizza IF they BURN IT! Without poking it first then forcing you to take it home … disgusting behaviour

Delicious pizza. I ordered 2 veggie slices and really, when I got them, 1 was plenty just for me. The size of 1 slice can feed 2 people.

Great stuffed patties. Mid pizza but strangely awesome fresh out of the oven. Def worth trying.

I have known this pizza store since i was a teenager, not bad then , I do find now that the older staff don't wash their hands before they get your slice of pizza,  ask them to do so after they handle the money they give you a dirty look and make insulting comments in front of other customers . I don't feel embarrassed by asking them , no it's them that should feel that way for not doing it. Remember to ask any server to do this , it's your's and your families health that are in question. Their stuffed patties are amazing! The tomatoes and lettuce are fresh and it just taste great. Also the pizza is good too! I’m happy I found out about this place. Great customer service also.

One of the best local pizza spots in Brampton! I've been a customer here since I was in grade school and these guys never disappoint. If you want really great tasting pizza, definitely give this place a visit!

Very good pizza but a perhaps unusual favourite is the loaded patty! What it is is a Jamaican meat patty sliced open and lettuce and cheese added. It's really amazing!

Been here a few times. Pizza toppings are better quality and quantity than expected. Patties are good but not nearly as good as tinnel's. Nice that you can get them stuffed though. Only negatives would be the cheese they use on the pizza tastes cheap- Processed?? And I also find the staff to be pushy and not friendly.

Mackay Pizza is delicious, the parties are better than anywhere else and the subs are fresh and tasty. My only complaints about Mackay is that they don't have a decent website (though most information is available in this app) delivery always takes a full hour (which is also good in a way) and they don't accept debit as a delivery method of payment. <br/><br/>I will always keep going back to Mackay because it's soooo good.

I used to LOVE this place. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS DISGUSTING. I grew up on Mackay pizza and i love it. I would continue to go there if the customer was better. Honestly speaking, ive never seen older filipino ladies give bad service anywhere! I am Filipino and i know we take pride in our manners but these ladies are disgusting. Completely rude, and they dont want to do anything. They get their younger staff to serve a line up while they are to the side on their phone... EXCUSE ME CAN I GET SOME FOOD PLEASE. They speak terrible english which is totally fine except they look at you like you're stupid. I know when i get one of these ladies on a phone order because my order always comes to me incorrect. I have so much love and respect for that place but Ive never felt so insulted while being served food. BAD FOR BUSINESS. Im not going back, I retire from eating there.

Boring pizza, DESPICABLE customer service. The pizza was just average, nothing to write home about. What I'm horribly angry about is the customer service. I will NEVER give these people business again, unless they hire a whole new staff. NEVER AGAIN. Rude, horrible, women.

Great food, terrible customer service.. If it wasn't for the great food, I wouldn't bother with this place because of their customer service. The older ladies on the phone are rude. I wanted to place an order for pickup and I paused just for a moment, only to hear on the other end, "Are you going to order or what?" I'm sorry my breathing time took up a second of your time, lady. <br/>Same thing with walk in orders. The older ladies are very good at dumping your food in a bag just to get rid of you, without a thank you for your business. This establishment should hire people who know how to give customer service, not treat you like they're living in their home country. <br/>FYI, I am also the same ethnicity as these ladies.

Cold Pizza Delivery. I ordered a pizza on a Saturday night, and I waited an hour and a half for it to be delivered to my house. When the pizza got here, it was cold. I had to put it in the oven to warm it up. When I called in to tell them about it, the manager was hopeless and wasn't willing to replace my pizza at a later date, as I didn't want to wait another hour and a half for another one. I have been ordering pizza from this location of Mackay Pizza & Subs for the past 15 years, but that was the last pizza I will have from there. I will find a different place, due to this incident. I will recommend everyone that enjoys Mackay Pizza & Subs to find somewhere else, as their service is going downhill.

Rude service since new owners. Don't go here. Used to be a great place before new owners too over. Service is rude and food not the same as it used to be. Portions also now a lot smaller then they used to be. Was smaller. Many times you go they don't even have slices ready. Terrible now. Don't go here if your looking for the old good Mackay pizza. Its awful and will be bankrupt soon as people will stop going.

Tried Mackay, for the first time. Had the Mackay special x-large pizza. It was really good and cheesy, and they are not stingy with toppings. Will for sure order again.

This place is horrible. I saw tomatoes with MOLD being used for subs. Fresh produce sits next to the garbage. The owners are money grabbing pigs. They don't have a problem with nickel and dimming customers. The place is a run down dump. Save your hard earned money and go else ware

Amazing pizza!. I have been eating Makay pizza since I can remember it is the gooey delicious pizza everybody wants!!!! Get the crust well done and you will not be disappointed!!! 1000 star rating!

Great Pizza, awsome price. I order their medium(14"), montreal style pizza with real bacon, ham, pinapple and mushrooms all the time, I'm never disappointed. I've been stuck with those crappy chain places for years but now finally I've found a great pizza place. The people are nice on the phone, the delivery people are always nice and prompt and the price is fantastic. Last night my medium pizza delivered with the usual topping + tax was under 17$!! Great pizza for value and toppings. The pizza at this Mackay is consistently good at a very reasonable price.. They never skimp on the toppings and it's all evenly distributed. While it's pretty greasy, it's great to have once in a while when you need to order something quick. Many other pizza places in Brampton are just hit and miss, mackay is always consistent and delivers.. The patties are also amazing, well deserved with its spot in the top 10 of urbanspoon Brampton.

Best Pizza in Bramalea. Have lived in Bramalea for 30 years... this is the GO TO pizza. Just awesome. Fresh ingredients, and arrives with the box smoking hot! <br/><br/>Really... dude, trust me. wouldn't order from anyone else.

Best pizza I've ever tasted. Left Brampton to go to university and 95% of my days are thoughts about how excited I am to go back to Brampton so I can order this pizza. Yum!

Mackay Pizza disaster. OMG - it qualifies as the worst pizza ever. BLAND beyond belief. It was like eating the cardboard that the pizza came in without the flavour. ugh. Don't ever waste your money.

Best Patties. Patties are amazing! Slices only good when fresh! Subs are sub par. I go every week and have been going for close to 15 years.

Good Subs. I tried their assorted sub and it is pretty good. The price is very cheap as well as I bought 2 large subs and it came to under $10 with tax. Will be going back again.

Crap. Place is knows for it's pizzas and Jamaican beef patties. The pizzas are large, bland and veryyyyyy greasy. The patties are old, place is always packed with 15 yr old wanna-be hoodlums... would i go back? well if i was 16 and couldn't afford 3 bucks on a slice from Pizza-pizza; maybe.

Pizza tastes great, but is very greasy! The beef patties which they're famous for, don't have much flavor either.

Pizza and Patties. Bramalea's staple for pizza and patties. This place has been in existence forever!<br/><br/>The patties are the best-- the fresh toppings really make them.<br/><br/>Pizzas are always smothered in cheese with large slices. The quality is always the same--excellent!

I finally got a chance to try it, ordering a big Hawaiian slice. The pizza was different though, instead of ham they have big pepperoni slices underneath all the pineapple chunks. I actually like their version as it gives that extra zing. The crust is thin and crispy just the way I like it. I would definitely have another slice soon.
