Review Wok Of Fame - Brampton

It is a lovely place with a beautiful decor. There is a ton of space to host a birthday. For take-out, it is convenient and easy. The taste is good -- not spectacular, but is always consistently tasty and worth it for the price. So I would only recommend this place for you if it's close by and you're craving some familiar Chinese food. It's a pretty good option for all the standard Chinese dishes if you bring friends who wish to taste chinese food for the first time.

Great place for large groups and special occasions. Great decor to take pictures with family. The food is a bit bland but I'm vegetarian so I didn't eat the meats but I was told the meat does bring flavor to your dish. Sweet and sour chicken very flavorful. Sushi is dry but nice flavors. Plum sauce doesn't taste like plum sauce .

We had a really nice dinner. We were celebrating a birthday and because it was their actual birthday their meal was free. Lots of options to choose from. My kids loved the noodle and sundae bar. We will definitely be back.

One of the largest Buffet restaurant in the Brampton area. They have a huge selection of food to choice from. The ambience of the place is fantastic. The washroom is so clean. Make sure you remember where your table is because you might be lost. Lol. A great experience to dine in. We’ll definitely come back.

The atmosphere is amazing. We came in a group of 7 and had excellent service (this was on a Tuesday night, low traffic). There was a large and impressive selection of desserts, but the food selection felt... slightly less than expected. It felt like the large seating area dwarfed the small buffet tables. The sushi felt simple and honest, had a good taste and good selection. Imitation crab is used in the "crab" sushi. The fried foods were above average. One or two fried chicken dishes were spectacular and made up the greater part of all of my guests' meals. The salmon was amazing and tasted high in quality. There is a custom seafood bar where you load raw seafood (fish, crab, shrimp) onto your plate and they will cook it in front of you with a sauce of your choice. With taxes and a $5 tip our totals came to be around 40$. Some of us felt like the meal was worth 40$, some of us didn't. Was still a good experience overall.

Food taste was average. The buffet had good variety but was lacking taste with majority of dishes. I tried over 8-10 food items out of which only 2 were good. Had better chinese food at Square one outlets.

Been going to this restaurant with my family for Years. We really enjoy the selection they have although they need to improve their freshness and quality. The pizza looked like it was sitting there for days and their ice-cream was frozen and not covid friendly. They had a cool option of cooking your food for you which was very exciting.

Great Vegas size buffet right in Brampton/ Mississauga! Large on-the-spot custom cooking section, on which you choose what ingredients and sauce their on-site staff may cook for you. Good selection prepared (asian & western) hot and cold foods (salad ingredients). Desserts consisted of a variety of mousses, cakes & ice cream + waffles. Drinks are included with their self-serve drink fountain section. Only one section was missing food - hopefully it will come back. Wonderfully massive high ceilings and seating area space! Great to have them back in biz, as this was my first visit ever (but not my last). (Find me on Instagram @aida.loves )

The food was mediocre yesterday. They served their crab legs in small batches so they went quick. The beef and broccoli dish had uncooked broccoli which was hard to chew. The sushi was good though. The other times we went the food was much better!! There was also a 2hr limit and the waiter insisted that I pay my bill as I was still eating my hot food and no where near dessert and wasn’t even close to the 2hr mark. That was disappointing!!!

Exelent buffet place. So far my favorite. Nicer than Mandarin for sure. There is all kind of food ,place is clean, servers are polite and discrete , price reasonable. I will recommend it to all my friends.

We came there from Hamilton and it was our first time .Soon as we reached the place we were surprised. .the place is huge especially inside..the tables and chairs are not close to other tables ..you could eat comfortably. We enjoyed the good food they served especially the food they cook in front of you..staff are approachable and reasonable price. We will surely come back there with my other family members and friends. So keep up the good work guys

We went on Saturday, June 17th, as no one would pick up the phone so we could make reservations on the 16th, which was my wife's birthday. This meant of course that there was no birthday meal to be credited. We did get a table at our assigned time, however it was placed to close to another unoccupied one, so we moved the tables ourselves. It was fortunate that we did, as it was soon occupied and we'd have been in each others laps if we hadn't handled it ourselves. There was no explanation as to how the food stations were setup, and this was our first time. We did figure it out, based on watching there long queues of people, however the raw food section for the live cooking was avoided. The tongs used for the meat, especially the chicken, were coated up to the handles with raw meat, and there was no hygienic wash station to clean your hands after handling. The tongs looked like they had been out for quite some time with the level of build up, and I witnessed on every occasion I passed by, that the customers were cross contaminating every bowl. The wait staff were apathetic to put it mildly, it took over 15 minutes after we were shown our seats before we were asked for drinks, and we did not see our server again until we asked the busser to find someone to get our bill. It was a different experience than other buffets, that is very true. However, sometimes a difference isn't an improvement.

I always loved eating at Wok of Fame. However, yesterday I was surprised when they charged me 10% on top of the total bill. When I checked with them what that 10% was, they said it's the minimum tip that they charge. I told them, but you usually leave that to us as an option upon paying and not add it to the bill itself. They said, no that's how we always do it and that's even the minimum, it could go up to 15-20%. We were 10 ppl and the 10% tip reached about $31. I was never charged a mandatory tip on my bill before and that's what really upset me. If they really have such a mandatory tip they should inform us upon reservation, not wait till it's time to check out at the restaurant.

Went for my brother's birthday. The food variety and quality is great! Love the live cooking and surf and turf, the sushi is great and there are many other dishes to choose from. Will definitely recommend to friends and family! The only slight criticism would be that we brought a cake for my brother prior to our reservation and had to ask at least 3 times before someone brought it out for us. But they did have a candle for us

The food are great! Aside from the cooked buffet food, there is also a live chef cooking for fresh steak, basa filet, mussel, shrimp and etc. The manager is very nice and I like the ambiance too.

Such a awesome place to eat foods are all have great taste..they have friendly staff en good environment to stay w/

This restaurant is truly impressive! The staff is great! I was blessed to meet a kind couple that often eats here. I can see why it is such a well spoken about restaurant. It’s not like any other buffet I’ve been to. The food was fresh all night and the sushi was actual real sushi. I will definitely return in the near future

Went there tonight to celebrate a birthday. The birthday guy ate for free which was really nice. Price was reasonable.Wait staff were all very pleasant. Food was good. I really enjoyed the live cooking station where I could choose the ingredients I wanted for my stir fry. Only suggestion I would have is to raise the ice cream coolers up a bit (maybe by 2 feet) as there was a girl there with long hair and as she bent over to get her ice cream her hair ended up in a few ice cream containers. I couldn't eat the ice cream after seeing that. We will be back in a few weeks for another dinner.

Variety on a weekend dinner was not so impressive... cooked hot food sesion is garbage, not worth eating. Limited stuff on grill section , not a value for money

I wont recommend visit that place during the weekdays, no shrimp or shrimp sauce...

Good food but terrible customer service, we made a reservation on November 11 for a babyshower. On the day we made the reservation we were never told that there will be a 2 hour limit until the day of the shower. They had to move us to another section so that the 2 hour limit will not apply, all of a sudden one of the servers told us that we will still have to leave after 2 hours. We asked for the manager and he was extremely rude but later on they let us stay as long as we wanted.
Myrma Claravall Mamiit
It was a great place and I would say the best eat all you can restaurant 😀

We went there to celebrate my granddaughter’s birthday. The variety of food was very good and the service was ok. Our only complaint was the food, it was cold. Not sure if the air conditioning is too high but the food gets cold awfully fast.
Joanne Malig Penaverde
My family celebrated my birthday yesterday. Thanks for your free birthday buffet. The place is clean and the food tastes good. Only, the shrimp in the torpedo shrimp is sooooooo small. 3/4 is breading, but the breading still tastes good. Just look for the shrimp on the last 2 bites. The live cooking is really good. Not crowded.

Went to this much heard of place on my birthday
It was a live buffet with Chinese Mongolian sushi and pizza and food from most regions
There were about 200 dishes on display
The lady at the entrance was not very polite and helpful But we sat in our seats and started with our first buffet helping
Went to the live counter they had shrimp with shells on
It was tough the steak was not that great too
Sushi was ok not too good and the hot entrees were ok too
Nothing tasted really good Everything was average
The good was the service was good
They gave me a birthday free lunch as Birthday person eats free here on their birthday
The decor and ambience was superb
Wish they would focus on the food and quality more
Their live counter also closes by 2.30 pm which is a disappointment too
It is as huge as an adventure island of food , seating may be 200 plus with plush buffet n over 170 items.
We started our adventure with live counters for starters with hot n spicy steak , chilly shrimps n grilled mussels .
Rolled to sushi buffet with crab sashimi to nigiri to California rolls , sushi wasn't upto the marked n was not as fresh as it should be ! Needs improvement !
Main course I tried grilled pork chops , steamed fish, see through dim-sums, crab legs garlic , pasta noodles n tso chicken !
Asian beef curry was nice .
To dessert it was another lavish spread including mango cheese cake , green tea cake cream filled patty fruits with whipped cream , caramel custard coconut macaroons n much more !
It is great in quantity n numbers of items but the food quality was average !
Good for impressing guests to a plush restaurant .
Price wise good n affordable !

A very good alternative to a Chinese buffet. The popularity in Brampton and the neighboring cities has become evident. All because of the live cooking and even the out of season sea food options.
Price is reasonable because it comes with unlimited refill of pop or juice not like the competitors that you have to pay extra. Plus, you don't have to wait for the server to refill the drinks. DYI while getting your food.
Anyone complaining about the price, it's buffet! It is expensive!
The variety of food is very appealing to anyone. From kids who just eats chicken fingers and pizza to the grown up that doesn't have any seafood allergy. It's pretty tasty compared to the other buffet plus they try to make the desserts abundant with other choices. They even have an soft serve ice cream machine.
Ambiance is good but try to reserve a table on a weekend dinner. You will wait for a while if you don't do that. They're not too organized with this.
Zahra Haidari
Their butter chicken and naan was good. It's good for buffet style cuisine but their desserts are terrible. Their service is good but their food can certainly be better.

Decent food selections. The inside of the buffet restaurant is very nice and inviting...love the chandeliers and decor. The prices is fair...for the lunch time it's $21.99 and dinner time it's $31.99.

They have a wide selection of foods and a play room for kids. My favorite section is the teppanyaki station that cook in front of you. At a certain time, there's a pianist.
Jim
Great buffet. Has lots of choices with cooking stations. Much better than the Mandarin or other Chinese buffets.
We used to visit regularly for lunch since there were the same items we like as at dinner but for a lower price. The stir fry bar is the reason to come here but if it's busy there might be some standing around. The grill is pretty good to. The prepared buffet is average to slightly sub-par. Certainly a good place to check out, particularly at lunch.

Came here once and the selection was excellent. You really get what you pay for. They have a couple stations where they make food in front of you. I loved it and strongly recommend it so you get your moneys worth. They also have huge freezers that you can grab unlimited drinks from. They have a vast dessert selection. It's nice for the experience but I don't feel the need to go back. May be nice for a family dinner or celebration.
Bryce Derryn Rebello
Really good concept, something different, very pleasant staff and a good experience, save some room for desserts because they do have a good variety. I used the kung pao sauce for my meal and it was really nice, read about the sauces for your live buffet meal before you make a choice . Enjoy :) Have attached a picture of the live buffet meal made below.

Wok of Fame has many landscapes, we was seated under a tree. The food there is so delicious, on week-day, they served many foods that i cant enjoy all of them cauze so full :). In my opinion, this is a gud place for friends and family meeting. I will come to experience again in the weekend
Sweetlover967
I love the eyes catching and warm atmosphere, the services was great, food are just delightful. Various choices. Steak are cook on your requested. Noodles like cook with your choices and various sauces to choose from. Who doesn't like one price for all with drinks? Sushi n sashimi station for those who love the raw tastes. Eating while listening to the piano playing just like the food is dancing with the music in your mouth. Wonderful experiences buffets. Visit the play since open till now for most of the occasions. Why not give yourself or family a treat at Wok of Fame and do share your experience to the newbie...

Frequently Customer. I love to dine out every weekend. Wok of Fame is the buffet restaurant my family and I love to come back time after time. One price for food and drink who is gonna said no to that?! At the step to the door you can feel the warm and comfy atmosphere. Not casual and yet not that formal at all. However, the romantic sound of the pianist play while enjoying the delicious meal is the best deal you can get with Wok of Fame. Live cook, steak and various of delicious choices...did I mention the sushi and sashimi is in the house? Crabs and shrimp in two way to choose from....guys and girls who serve was great and friendly, just ask for whatever you need....5start for everything....

Nice place with good service. Yesterday, i was there with my wife for her birthday. As Wok of fame's promotion, my wife can eat for free, but we need to show the server her photo ID. Unfortunately, we forgot to bring it. The server nicely exlained to me that as the policy she cant give my wife the free meal, but we can bring the receipt and ID later and they will return the money to us. i think it is a good policy and it shows the their respect to the customers. Moreover, the food there were so good, esecially the live cooking. i will be back there in future for sure.
Trinh_quy30
A good place for family gathering. I and my family went to Wok of Fame for family gathering in last weekend. It looks like an open space with nice Landscape. Besides that, my family enjoyed the live cooking food as steak, grill salmon, tuna. At the hot table, i can choose many Chinese and Vietamese foods such as hot shrimp, noodle, grill pork, chicken ball, fish ball ... , they also served King crab. The service there is also good. But one thing i recommend that you should book a table, if not you have to wait quite long time because its quite busy on weekend. I will come back there in near future. :)

Still better then others. My second time came here as a group, The food is fresh and delicious and be suitable for wat I pay. Will come back for a free birthday meal

Wok of Fame 2nd experience. There are variety of food for people. The atmosphere is luxury and romantic. but, Price is a little on the expensive side. I will be back again.

Extremely Popular. It's always very busy when I get here, but I love eating here so much that enduring the wait to be seated is worth it. The ambience is mellow, and the décor is very pleasant. Sometimes, a classical pianist in the middle of the restaurant performs and it really helps to set the mood. The selection is limited, but the food, especially their sushi, tastes fresh and is very appetizing.

Disappointed, gross food, overpriced. Very poor selections, not fresh, poor quality ... Food. is just awful. Worst Restaurant I have ate at!
Will not be returning or recommending to others.

Great food + a live stir fry station. Can't really go wrong.

Been here multiple times, and will continue to go up to Brampton for the good eats!

Worst service, overpriced, average food. The restaurant itself is beautiful and extensively large. Hostesses were kind and gave a tour of various food stations.

I attended with a large group of 10 plus. After immediately arriving I was asked various questions about the birthday boy and if it's his real birthday (it's only free with multiplier guest on your real birthday and proof is required)
The waiter then continued to tell my half the table that he wants us to pay now... We still had an hour and half to enjoy our meals and the restaurant wouldn't be closing until after we left. He asked us to pay now and clarified that people (we have tanned skin so it is unsure if that was a remark towards us) have left without paying. I let him know that's no ones intention, it's bad for our souls and it would be extemely obvious. He shortly came back once more of the group arrived and proceeded to give us bills... Still eating. We all made arrangements to pay, because we had such a large group gratuity was added. The bill came up to $37.75, we had all asked for a change. He asked if I want my two dollars? I said yes, when the change was given he made announcement that he's giving me two dollars and twentyfive cents.
We were a large group like I said; tanned skin but it's Brampton so was everyone else? All in the age range of 19-29. This judgemental behaviour was disgusting, small minded and simply put rude. I am curious to go back and see how they can/hopefully have improve themselves. With that said I know many other places I can spend $37- and be expectionaly happy!

Rip off- false advertising- gross food. We drove out here from Markham on a Saturday. Before we left we called the restaurant to make sure that there was a piano player on the weekends. We were told yes and that meant that yes, there is one there for lunch that day. This was at around noon. So we drove out only to be met by no one at the piano and were told that they must have called in sick. ok? And the food just really wasn't that good. Both of my plates went hardly eaten. As did my boyfriends'. And he is an EATER!. The chocolate fountain was out of service, the creme brulé had a sign with nothing in it for the hr and a bit that we were there, the siumai were empty-I asked for more- they said 5 mins but it took nearly half hr. The food just was not being replenished and everything else was cold. They stop lunch at 3. When I mean stop, I mean they put up actual do not enter barriers, lock the bathroom stalls, etc. You heed to get out! I talked to the manager about how we only came for the piano and how I went so far as to call before I came and was told he/she was there and then no one was. He was really rude. Acting like I was some type of freeloader. He took my $50 which was how much the bill was and went to the cash. I didn't know what he was going to decide. It turned out it was $4 off. Lol I guess looked at him in an odd way because then he snapped if u think I'm giving u a free meal IM NOT. Honestly, I would have been happy if he took 1/2 off one of the meals. The food is same on wknds as it is during week. They charge you $6 more a head because there is a supposed piano player on wknds. We live near an imperial with much better food. We went because I wanted to hear the piano; it was the experience we drove there for. I even called first to make sure. I feel like, just like all the signs with no food or thingds not working, the piano is another false advertisement of which they don't deliver. 45 mins there. An hour back. $46 later. For nothing. I'd never return. Oh and it was 3:04 when we were leaving. I actually had to use the McDonalds' washroom next door because I couldn't use theirs. SKIP this scam place, trust me :)

The Best Buffet I've Tried So Far!. We came here on a Sunday evening at around 8:00 pm based on a recommendation by a friend of ours who decided to join us for the evening. When we walked in, we were impressed with how large the restaurant was, complete with beautiful décor hanging from the ceiling and on the walls. There were also two ponds at the front of the restaurant, with fish and turtles swimming about. Next to the front counter, there was a large fish tank with red fish, which was great for photos! We were instantly smitten with how beautiful this restaurant was, one of the most beautifully decorated buffets that I had ever been to.

When we approached the front counter, we were greeted by a kind young woman who asked us to wait a few minutes as she checked if there was a table available for us. She came back about two minutes later and escorted us to a table nearby the buffet. We sat down and began to search for our food items at the buffet. There were many items to choose from, from cold to hot main dishes, with a large dessert table as well. The main feature of this buffet was the live cooking, which was in the middle of the buffet area. You would choose the raw items that you wanted (e.g. meat, vegetables, etc.), then, you would approach the chefs behind the counter, and give them your items. They would then cook the items in front of you, with your choice of sauce and noodles. The items came out very hot and fresh, with the chefs cooking quickly.

The other items at the buffet were immaculate, all placed beautifully in their stations. The sushi station had about seven different types of sushi to choose from, with a huge container of spicy mayo and seaweed salad at the end of the table. I had never seen spicy mayo on a table of sushi at a buffet therefore, I was impressed to see that. Also, there was pizza, chicken, mashed potatoes, fries, and other items that were more Canadianized. Also, there were a TON of ice cream flavours to choose from, which was quite impressive as most buffets only have a few. There was a chocolate fondue with marshmallows and strawberries, along with different cakes and cookies, such as Red Velvet and Tiramisu. There was also an entire station for different types of soups, along with a waffle station. I had never been to a buffet that had that much food to offer! As well, the drinks were unlimited, with bottled water, along with many different types of soft drinks and juices available.

Once we had finished our meal (trust me, we ate as much as we possibly could!), we asked for our bill, which was complete with a fortune cookie for each of us. For the three of us, our meal came out to $101, which we thought was quite reasonable considering all of the food items that were available, along with the unlimited beverage selection. Also, there was a live pianist available, who played songs that people had requested, along with other songs that were soothing while eating our meal. If you love buffets, and want to attend a buffet that has a wonderful atmosphere, a large selection of food items, and excellent service, then I HIGHLY recommend you give this place a try. After trying other buffets, this one is at the top of my list, and I will tell everyone that I know to come here!

Went to this place for dinner last night with my husband and we really enjoyed the buffet! The Decor is absolutely beautiful and the staff are friendly and professional! The live cooking station was awesome! I agree that some of the food items tasted like they had maybe been sitting too long, but it is a buffet! An added bonus for us was all the crab legs and sushi, also really enjoyed the desserts! We will be returning next time where In Brampton!

Very Enjoyable!. I'm glad I didn't let sour reviews from bitter people keep me away. Tried this out of curiosity, wanting to avoid the manic atmosphere at Mandarin. (do you really need three people screaming "HI, WELCOME TO MANDARIN" in your face as you enter?)

I found the greeting to be professional, courteous and genuine. When asked if this was our first visit, we were given a tour of the dining area, pointing out the various live cooking stations and other areas.

First visit was to the live cooking station, where we had our only poor experience, and it had nothing to do with the food. We joined the line, and, realizing that we need a plate, I turned to get two, one for myself, one for my girlfriend. Someone took advantage of the ten seconds this took me to jump in front of us in line! I tapped them on the shoulder, and said "Excuse me, I was in line here". Their only response was "Oh, I didn't see you" and they refused to go to the back of the line. That's okay... karma will get you, and it did. The line jumpers got the last two pieces of steak available at the moment, and we got freshly-cooked meat, which was tender and delicious!

Other stations were just as expected. Filled with food that looked and tasted fresh. Our next visit was to bring my father for dinner, and he enjoyed it as well.

I had very high expectations and this place was a let down. Pros

decor is stunning
variety of food

Cons

long line ups
Lack of customer service
the QUALITY of food

I come to this restaurant imagining this is the end all of all buffets. The quality of the food is worse than Mandarin. I would rather go to Spoonful and wish I did. I literally spent 15 mins in lines to get my food. It wasn't the steak/chicken/seafood, but just the regular food. Maybe if the price was not so high I would consider going back as their only promo is free meal on your birthday. In which, there are better alternatives to go on that day.

3 out of 5

nothing special

Worst Restaurant I have ate at!. This restaurant is probably the worst buffet I have ever ate at. I might as well go to Oceans super market and buy food and eat it here.

First time. Here. I'm so impressed with interior and quality of the food. For a great price. Great place for family or dates. 5 stars. I couldn't find a thing to complain about. Love this place.

Nice. Very clean environment, fresh food and beautiful interior.... not my fave place for food though and probably wouldn't return- unless it was free.

Excellent! This Chinese / Japanese buffet resturant has a lot going for it. Much nicer inside than your average Buffett, live piano player.. Very large. Food is great with Japanese chefs also available to cook meat or stir fry right in front of you.
If The Manderin is the heavy weight champion, Wok of Fame is Joe Fraiser! Two thumbs up!

Fantastic food Good variety.... Fantastic food
Good variety for all tastes and ages
For was fresh
Service was great. Not pushy
Clean place

Very Good. I loved it! The Live Cooking is a big yes for me.
Pick what you want, favoured with your own choice of sauce.
Not sure why some people are so negative.
The buffet maybe could be better. But the Live Cooking (I think) cannot be beat.

Mostly subpar. I am a soup lover. Wonton broth was just bland, the grilled steak was just soy and garlic.I had some stir fried shrimp and mushroom with black bean sauce, inedible. I really think the wok and grill crews should taste their own cooking. Some of the dishes were barely good, nothing memorably. Can't say if it is worth another visit When I revisit Canada in the spring.

-----05 Dec, 2013-----

Mostly subpar. Gorgeous venue, beautiful, sparkling lighting & great furniture. However, what the buffet lacks is quite an important factor in the buffet business. Good food.
I went to the buffet today for lunch with my family and we all noticed the food was missing some key ingredients... For one, the food was lukewarm, not hot enough, some things were way too salty & other food items were just plain tasting. I could not appreciate any of the food, except for the ice cream because really. How can you go wrong with ice cream.
Anyway, I would not recommend anyone go to this buffet because although it might look great & it may have a wide selection of Chinese and Japanese food, anyone with tastebuds would agree with me in saying that their food is just awful.

We love it. A buffet is a buffet, but we liked this place. I know there are many negative reviews about Wok of Fame. But we have been here multiple times and have enjoyed not only the service but the food they had to offer that day. The selection is plentiful, the drinks are self-serve (which I believe is a great idea), and the concept of the food being made to order in their specialty section is great. Sure, the food can be hit and miss at times, but so can every other buffet restaurant out there. We will definitely be back there again :)
Jrbuddah
Meh..... The place is nice....I like the fact you can get your own fountain drinks and/or bottled juice and water. The live cooking is pretty good, but like everyone else has said....the rest of the buffet including the desserts are sub par. For the price your paying, go to Mandarin....or Wasabi. One good thing about Wok of Fame is you do eat for free on your BDAY.
Summertime
Disappointed. Was anxious to try out this new place but was very disappointed. The novelty is the idea of picking your own raw ingredients and turning over to the chefs to stir fry. That part was good. However, the regular buffet is terrible. Not a lot of choice and everything was of poor quality and very cold.

The bathrooms were disgustingly dirty and smelly. This made us wonder how clean the kitchen was. Will not be returning or recommending to others.
Doritos Van
Not worth it.. Its a sad case of quantity over quality at this place. The decore and live pianist were appreciated, however, those are my only positives. Food was mediocre; comparable to Mandarin. Come here to fill your stomach, but not satisfy your palette.
Mizzy
Groosssss! Save your money! Food bland, waiters rude.
Elmer
I like the atmosphere. Nicer seats and tables than Mandarin. Decor is also nicer. However the most important thing is the food and that's where it all falls apart. Some of the food I tried were cold, like the chicken skewers and General Tao's Chicken. However, the teppanyaki was OK. Just don't expect it to be better than an actual teppanyaki restaurant. Go to Mandarin instead. Or Wasabi.

This is a refreshing new resturant. Took the family and everyone enjoyed it. Fresh food, great selection of classic Chinese food and we loved live cooking. You simply choose what you want to eat and it's done fresh before you.

The experience was with the price. The Wok of Fame will give their competition a run for their money.

Better than Mandarin!. Its getting a lot of bad reviews here but the two times that I have been its been pretty good. The main negative and it is a big one is that when you go to get the fresh to order stuff you are limited to one piece only which I dont think is good as you stand around for ten minutes or so then need to repeat the experience a few times. I usually get one curry and one piece of meat per person by splitting where I stand with my group but it shouldnt have to be a strategy to get food! Especially as its an all you can eat!! Oh and a pretty expensive one at that. I do appreciate that the food can be a little bland but at least its fresh!

I like it.. Good Food, Good Service, I like the idea, you pick what you want in your dish. Little expensive. But good

R.Sethi.

Seriously?. I live 2 mins away and finally decided to give it a try. one of the big selling features was supposed to be the live cooking area. I tried 3 different items here and regardless of the items chosen, theyre all plopped on the grill, flipped over after 5 mins, and then doused with butter and garlic. the steaks are "pan fry" thickness and should cook in 3 mins max if grilled at the proper temperature. it tasted like leftover roast beef reheated in a frying pan and way to greasy. the sushi was grocery store grade. the hot bar items are take out quality. all in all save your money and go to a local AYCE sushi restaurant or the Mandarin. based on my expectations i would rate this place a 3 outta 10. on overall dining experience possibly a 5 outta 10. they should have just kept the Zellers open!!!!

Great place for family dining. My family has gone three times this year to celebrate birthdays in groups of 6 to 8 people. Each time it has been an excellent experience. The food is varied and tasty. The staff are friendly. Unlike the Mandarin, you don't feel pressured to hurry up and finish. We spend 2 to 2.5 hrs each time we stayed. The piano was pleasant. The atmosphere allowed conversation without feeling you needed to be quiet, but without having to yell to be heard across a table. My daughter really enjoys seeing the fish aquarium and turtle / koi pond at the entrance. We'll be back for sure.

Nothing Special. I have been here only twice, the first time was an alright experience...moderately busy, service was decent and food was okay? Gave the place a second try...went at around 8-8:30pm was notified by the hostess that they close at 10pm, so we have approximately 1 hour which was fine with us...got to the buffet and realized how crappy everything looked. Everything was cold, sushi looked like it was left out for too long...the only thing that was okay was the salmon, beef and shrimp that is made on the spot by the chefs. Even though they were closing soon...there was approximately 2 hours left and the buffet was completely empty. If they were not planning to refill the buffet then why continuing letting people in? Paid $70 there that night to eat cold noodles..i would not recommend coming anytime pass 8pm....I personally think Mandarin is a better choice.

Wok of fame, Brampton On. Visited Sunday afternoon. Restaurant full with people. Food plenty and apparently good. Size and decor misleading.
Visited again 2 days later for dinner at 8 p.m.
Convinced not to return. Food not fresh, only left overs. I would rename restaurant to " Wok of shame.

Quick and simple.... Long waits for one tiny steak.
My friend had diarrhea.
My boyfriend lives across the street and he thinks the place sucks.
Need I say more?

I had an incredible time! The decorations are fantastic and feels luxurious. I went there my first time for lunch on a Wednesday. It wasn't busy by 2pm so there were no line ups. Lots of variety between all of the stations! The WOK station was really something! You choose the raw food you want cooked and then pick a sauce, I highly reccomend the garlic sauce it was amazing!
I will definitely be back:)

Good for stir-fry. If you like fresh stir-fry and grilled meats/fish, then you'll like this place. The buffet section is subpar to Mandarin's and the dessert section is just sad, but the make your own stir-fry with the 6 or 8 sauces available is really quite delicious, and they also have some sashimi at lunch.

Wok of Shame more like. Normally I wouldnt give a review - but this was simply awful. I didnt appreciate spending that much money and having to do everything myself. Yes this is a Buffet - but you dont expect to be directed to the huge fridges to select your beverage and glass and bring it back to your table.

Couldnt understand the number of wait staff - since they dont wait on you. You wait on yourself.

The wait to have your food cooked and the dessert table were both very disappointing.

I dont get how they can charge the same as the Mandarin - for no service at all.

I won't go back

I came here in jan2012 n the service n food excellent. Today April 22 - everything sucks. Cold "hot food" only partly functioning action stations. The teppaniyaki chef was rude n I felt discriminated. I asked for two portions of chicken - he said I could only have one(the othe was for my son) but many others were ordering two three portions and he happily made it for them! Perhaps I was too polite! They have taken crab and lamb out of the menu which was available in January. I will not visit this place again - mandarin is more consistent! Oh I forgot - the squid did not taste that good n the blame was put on the Thai sauce!!!!!!!!No sireee never again it was a disappointing 17 th birthday lunch for my kid....

A $9.99 buffet for 30$. Beautiful atmosphere - high class decor. Extremely friendly and welcoming staff. There must've been around 200-300 people there, it was packed and because of the scenary (and play room), you could see that all of the kids there seemed to have alot of fun. However the food was terrible.

Besides the sushi which was ok and live grill and wok which was good (but frustrating if you are impatient. like me ....have to stand around for 5 minutes plus lineup to get 1 dish) the hot food selection was lukewarm and had the quality of an cheap low class 7.99 buffett. The dessert was terrible, cheap store brought crap.

It is almost false advertisement, great high class image, atmosphere and look, low class food. After spending what seems to be hundreds of thousands of dollars on decore, you'd think they fork over abit more on food quality.

They are new so hopefully they would improve the next time I decide to go.

Awesome selection of food and the service is quick, worth the money!

LOVED IT !!!. Faaaar superiod to Mandarin or any other chinese/japanese buffet. Amazing, enormous place, really impressed. Had enough of the tacky mandarin look. Food superior in every way. Only complaint is that the second time we went, the sushi was short in volume. Sashimi, sushi and maki was excellent (and i'm picky). Stir fry station awesome and wonderful atmosphere

After reading most of the reviews, I wanted to back out of going to Wok of Fame. I went for Lunch on a Friday, lines for the hot stations were not too bad. I had Teppanyaki steak (2 orders) and Teppanyaki tilapia. I also had an order from the wok which I had to wait a bit longer for. I used the wok sauce for my dish but there were several other sauces to choose from. The hot food counter was not as expansive as some other restaurants but was good. The sushi bar was fresh and amazing. The seaweed salad was good. Dessert table could be better but the cakes were good. All in all worth the visit.

A so-so find. There are some good items such as the sushi but the stations where they cook for you can often have long line ups. The hot buffets items are mediocre at best ... Mandarin is still a way better choice than this place...

Wok of failure. As other reviewers have said, the food at Wok of Fame doesn't live up to expectations:
-food at teppanyaki stations OK but you may have to wait a long time since there is a limit of 1 item each time (who wants to wait at a buffet?)
-wok station good but let's be real -the stuff isn't worth very much
-sushi OK only
-hot food table is terrible
-fruits OK but desserts and ice cream terrible selection
-best thing is that non-alcoholic beverages are included
Mandarin is still better overall

Okay so I have already been here twice and the experience again was just phenomenal! I used to be in love with Mandarin but Wok of Fame is on a whole new level !!!!! Love this restaurant!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teppanyaki of fame. There are a number of Asian buffets in the area now. Wok of Fame has the nicest interior by far. There were different elaborate lighting fixture depending on where you sat and seating was comfortable. There was a grand piano near the centre that was a nice touch. The young lady playing wasn't very good but the instrument was beautiful and would be a great asset to the restaurant with the right musician. Don't sit near the entrance if you can avoid it. The entrance has sliding doors that are mostly open with people coming and going and the cold draft was quite chilling.

Like all of the other buffets I've been to there was a section where the food is cooked fresh behind the counter. Though here the selection was far greater. There were 4 areas. One is a wok station where you may pick your vegetables and meats/seafood and have it cooked together in a wok. The other 3 were teppanyaki tables with a station for meats, another for seafood and lastly one for fish. They are kept separate from each other which is good for those people that may have a seafood allergy.

The sushi area had sushi, sashimi and handrolls to pick from. The self serve salad bar & hot food area had much of the usual fair we all come to expect.

It was a little pricey at $29 for a weekend dinner, but that did include all hot and cold non-alcoholic beverage. Which puts it at about the same price as Wasabi and Mandarin Buffet, though I feel the food here is superior. If your not into sushi and only like to eat from the self serve salad bar & hot food area then the Mandarin offers better selection.

The dessert area had a nice selection. The chocolate fountain broke down part way through the night otherwise it looked and tasted great. Their unique twist was to have smoothies and yoghurts.

There was a kids area for the little ones to spend all that sugar induced energy, which was pretty much just a square room with some tables. The walls had 3D character designs that the kids quickly figure out they could climb up like a rock climbing wall. I'm not sure if that was the intention, but it looked like an accident waiting to happen. If I were you, I wouldn't let me kids go in there by themselves like most of the kids I saw jumping and screaming and clambering up the walls with no parent supervision.

Overall I had a great experience. I hope they keep up the quality, as so many other places like this fade after a few months or so. I know I liked it enough that I'll be back to check up on them.

Amazing Atmosphere, disappointing food.. It looks like a lot of money went into the set up for this restaurant. It is absolutely gorgeous, one would expect amazing food in such an amazing atmosphere! Very disappointing dinner! The hot buffet food was hardly lukewarm (cold food!) The live station was good but I just feel that there could be more variety and perhaps a better layout in the function of the live station wok. Beautiful place, glad I went to try it but I won't be going back. It is by no means any comparison to the variety, fresh food and service one would get around the corner at the Mandarin.

Wok of fame. Don't believe the hype! This place is awesome. I love it. I think it is better then the mandarin. You want the best bang for your buck go Friday afternoon.. The weekday lunch is better then any other buffet in Brampton. I have yet to see the dinner there but no crab may have me go to mandarin for weekend dinner.. Check this place out at lunch its the best in town,

Watch where you WOK!. A friend of mine was there on Saturday night Dec 3rd 2011 for dinner when she went to the restroom and slipped on a freshly mopped floor WITHOUT any signs or caution anywhere! When she slipped they didnt even offer her a bag of ice to put on her swollen knee's. She is expericning pain on her lower back 2 days later. This is terrible service as they only offered her a $50.00 gift card when there dinner came out to more then $60.00 and she noted to the mangers that she would never return. They never gave her anything only pain and greif! Please... just so you know, its all in the name, watch where you WOK!!!! Unbelievable!!!!

Love It or Hate It. The new Wok Of Fame Restaurant in Brampton will elicit some strong opinions. Millions have been spent on the design of this restaurant. There are about 10 different types of wall coverings, 10 different types of overhead lighting fixtures, 3 fake trees, a piano, a boat, a fish and turtle pond, a moat, Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. There is no unifying theme linking the numerous design images.
There is a "Live Cooking" section in the middle of the restaurant where food is cooked fresh for you from ingredients chosen by you. It looks impressive, but I found that the food in this section tasted a bit bland. The Sushi section is inferior to the local AYCE restaurants. The salad bar, hot food section and the desert selection are inferior to the Mandarin which is about 2 km away.
This is going to be a very controversial restaurant. Some people will love it, but many will hate it.
PS This restaurant showed up first on another site. Initially there were 4 very negative reviews, 3 positive reviews and 2 so so reviews. For some reason, that site deleted 3 of the negative reviews and the 2 so so reviews. As I said, this place will be controversial. After 2 visits, I can only give it a lukewarm recommendation.

I loved Japanese food, and so the sashimi boat was a welcome feature for me. The sashimi was fresh and the slices were of an appropriate thickness. I was very satisfied with this offer, especially when I compared this to some “all you can eat” Japanese restaurants which served skimpy slices of sashimi.

Sushi Bar: I’m usually resistent to trying sushi at buffets, but I gave this a try and I was actually satisfied. The ingredients were fresh and (again), the chefs were friendly. And although they didn’t have a huge variety, they still offered much more than other buffets I’ve been to. More importantly, the sushi tasted very fresh!

I could always count on my Filipino friends at GSK for constant get-together and play Christmas Santa. This year we went to Wok of Fame at Brampton and indulge with our yearly game of Secret Santa. This year I got myself a USB key shaped like a Christmas Tree. Did I say that I really love Christmas ornaments too?

The decor is grand. Reminds me of some of the restaurants in Hong Kong. As you enter, there is a Koi pond then you are greeted by a long aquarium just before you get to where the tables are. There are also fibre trees that camouflage the concrete columns and grandiose chandeliers to mask the industrial box store-type ceiling. The dining area is bordered by stone-like Asian-themed fences similar to one you’d find in a Chinese or Japanese garden. But the piece de resistance is the grand piano in the centre of the restaurant separating the dining ar

BEST FOOD! The live cooking is their biggest asset because the food is fresh, made right infront of you. I really liked their desserts aswell because they had a huge variety. From waffles to icecream, the choices for desserts were unlimited! Really good place. Lots of seating aswell! Reservation would be good but we walked in and found it easy to get seats. They also have really good service, personally, better then mandarin.
