I LOVE this place. Not only is it right next door to one of the most beautiful hikes you will venture on, it is one of a kind. The service is amazing, the atmosphere is eccentric to say the least and voted best toutons in NL by the Downhomer Magazine. Family run and you can sure tell...its run with love :)
They advertise the best toutans in Newfoundland but you have to ask a Newfie about that. What they do have in the eclectic atmosphere is great service and good food and let's face it that all we really want anyhow. If your out in Bay Roberts make sure you stop in.
As for what´s on offer, it´s traditional Newfoundland fare: All Day Breakfast, homemade Fish Cakes, Fish & Brewis, Toutons, Soups and Bake Beans. And ever my favorite, Homemade Bread which makes for the best toast. You got it, it´s the stuff your grandmother would make if she were still alive and happened to be a Newfoundlander. Madrock is as much cultural experience as it is a restaurant. And we shared the experience with tables and tables of happy diners, grannies to babies, the terribly fit and the awfully lazy out for Sunday breakfast.
Been going here for years. The owners are nice people so are the girls working the floor. Sausage, bacon, eggs, toutons etc are always good! Its a small spot with a Newfoundland vibe to it.
Favorite spot for a traditional lunch in Bay Roberts. Mad Rock is only a minute drive away.
We stumbled on this restaurant by chance, and thank goodness we did! I have never had such an amazing touton! This is a gem of a place and the food is amazing! I hope one day we stumble upon it again when we return to Newfoundland!
Excellent food! You must stop by this place. I had a French toast and the Mad Rock Touton. They both were delicious. The touton is pan fried and was nice and crispy. I would definitely go back.
Great grub and a charming ambiance awaits you at Mad Rocks Cafe. Take a hike out to the point and then reward yourself with some of their famous toutons! Yum. You can't go wrong.
Cosy cafe serving all-day breakfast. All the tables inside were occupied but there were picnic tables available outside. Enjoyed my first touton!
