A small restaurant serving the community. There's about 8 to 10 tables in all. Step inside and it's a bit retro with the theme of a Midway dinner as the name suggests.
Breakfast wrap $8.99
It's ok. Nicely done. Pretty much as expected.
BLT $7.99
Bacon lettuce and tomatoes. Pretty standard faire here. Nothing bad. Done well.
Breakfast poutine $11.99
The hash itself is cut up potatoes pan fried. Would be better if it was deep fried IMO.
The peameal bacon adds a good saltiness in the poutine. The eggs were done very well. Overall not bad.
Just so happens to be on front of a bus stop. Also conveniently located near centennial beach.
Note - on Weekends they only serve breakfast.
Worth a visit.

Ordered for pickup and the heavy smoker in the back eyed me and looked like she wanted to square up. Owner was rude as can be and you can tell by all the responses to reviews. Everyone there needs to take a breather and focus on good service cause the food was decent.

I'm a chef so I'm always somewhat critical of the food when I go out to eat. I make an effort to find hidden gems and small family owned places because often you find the best food and service. The midway diner is no exception. The server (big dude with beard) was on point excellent service and really friendly. The food was easily the best breakfast I think I've ever had, had the midway breakfast I think it's called : 2 eggs sausage toast and hash and my girlfriend had veg omelette. I also got aside if beans which was more like a boat of bean �. Incredible value for your money huge portions and the food was amazing. Wish you guys had a location closer to me, love to support local gems like you. Keep up the good work. I will be returning every time I come to Barrie!

Disappointing.. Ate here recently based on a few recommendations and was not impressed. Coffee was regular diner drip coffee. Not the sort of thing I'm into, but I get it. I had a spinach and feta omelette that was pretty unappetizing. The spinach wasn't cooked and drained properly so it when I cut into my omelette, water poured out everywhere and was very soggy. It also was not seasoned and tasted horrible. The home fries were okay, although I got a significantly smaller portion than my SO. Service was also very slow. Overall, not a good experience, would not recommend.

Looked questionable from the outside, but everything inside was AWESOME! Great hidden gem of a diner, if you like pancakes the chocolate &raspberry ones are highly recommended. Good coffee and service. Would definitely go again!

The original diner experience.<br/><br/>Basic. Good food. Dont expect white tablecloth fine dining. This is a mom and pop greasy spoon.<br/><br/>Nice portions and a room full of regulars.<br/><br/>Open for decades. <br/>The room Could use a bit of TLC but over all a thumbs up..., oh and real hollandaise!

Breakfast - passable. My brunch (breakfast by food type) was enjoyable mostly because of the company I was with. Denver omelette, OJ, coffee. The omelette was on the greasy side, not very flavourful. The home fries weren't greasy, but they weren't very flavourful, either. OJ was from concentrate, but good. The coffee, passable (I'm guessing basic Mother Parker's). Service was very friendly, but variable. The initial food delivery came quickly, but they were inattentive with coffee refills, which required multiple requests. The lunch menu looks decent, and they make a big deal out something they have called "Mansauce". The last Friday of every month, they are open for dinner. Given how loved this place is by locals, I'll probably give it another try sometime.
