We really didn't have a great experience here. We waited for a long time to order, because the server completely forgot about us. The prices are on the high end (17 dollars for fish and chips) compared to the other craftbeer pub in the same street, which has better food and better beers. My fish and chips was incredibly oily and fried for too long. I'm sorry to say, we won't be back.

A solid 3 stars. The food was average for pub fare. A good selection of draught. On Friday night they had local singer/guitar player. My daughter enjoted tge deep fried Mars bar.

Visit Friday May 12, 2018. Busy evening and had to go to the bar for a beer. Paid more than expected ($$$) for a craft beer, but the selection was good. Food was decent (pretzel bits / asiago dip and sweet / spicy wings). Seating layout not the best, which is made more awkward should there be live music booked. Certainly 'gastro', but perhaps not a 'pub'.

Hands down my favourite pub. Every single employee who works here is warm and engaging from the kitchen staff, bar tenders, to the owner. The owner will often pop out to say hello and check in, as will the chef, to make sure you're enjoying your food. The staff's knowledge of their beer is unreal, most of which is local craft. The menu is fresh, interesting, and concise. Menu is clearly well assembled as the food service is always quick and piping hot.
I could go on and on. A definite must. The service is quite literally second to none. I recommend it to all my patrons.

This is one of our favourite places. The staff are wonderful, the food is good, and the prices are reasonable. If you like beer, there's always a good selection of craft brews. The cauliflower wings are fantastic and so are the curries. The toffee pudding was a really nice surprise: moist and very tasty.

Does not pretend to be anything than what it is. Local beers on tap, nice, open welcoming feel. Food, for a pub, was excellent I had the fish and Kimchi fries, in a word: excellent. The only down side i could see of the pub was location, location, location. I have come to find that once one crosses west of Bayfield the Barrie locals become the crack head junkies roaming the streets. I look forward to trying more dishes there, before the sun goes down though.

Food was decent enough. Not busy esp for game day. Very good service. Had the fish and chips which were excellent. They make their own tartar sauce and ketchup which I thought was mediocre. I ordered their recommended baked Caesar salad though which frankly tastes like hot soggy Caesar salad - returned. Gf had the vegan special of the day which was a lentil shepard's pie which oddly came sans potato/other topping. It was ok but a bit dry though. Nice that they always have a vegan option though. Salad was really well done so ordered another. Dessert was hot toffee pudding which amazing! Nice selection of beers and tea. Had the Jays ACLS game 5 on on their sole TV. It's not a go-to for me but I'd go back if in the neighbourhood.

Really?. Went here today for an early dinner. The food was ok, but the whole experience left me wondering: really? Surprised it has been rated at 91%. The experience and atmosphere was ok. The food was good, but not AT ALL worth the price. The serving staff, I must say, was excellent. Too bad the portions were so small we have to go across the street and get more food to feel satiated, after paying $50 for two entrees and two beers. I would still recommend trying this place, but don't go expecting standard pub portions or a good value, just good beer and pub-ish atmosphere.

Second Time Great. This was my second time going and I had the special which was deep fried meat lasagna with a spinach salad. It was amazing and was 13.50. I'll be back!

Top notch Pub. Small but well done, high quality menu with two amazing salads. Caesar salad is baked with asiago cheese, fresh ingredients and homemade dressing.

Great wee pub. I have eaten here many times and it is a favourite with my kids, especial the deep fried mars bar. Food always great and staff very friendly. Haggis for starters is very generous. you won't be disappointed.

Excellent Pub. We went here for a bachelor party coming from out of town and searching for a place that would appeal to the many beer lovers in our group.<br/><br/>This place was amazing! Great food, great beer and the friendliest, most generous owner (Scott) I've ever met. He insisted on meeting our party and gave us the shirt off his back, literally - his Mad Tom IPA shirt.<br/><br/>A great, local establishment everyone who comes within 100 kilometres of Barrie should support.<br/><br/>Thanks a lot Scott! I'll definitely stop by anytime I'm going up north again.

Gastropub. My retirement party was held at this pub. The atmosphere was friendly, relaxed and comfortable, The appetizers were absolutely delicious. There was a good assortment of finger foods like veggies, chicken fingers, salads. All were tasty and fresh. It is a great venue for a gathering.

Great selection of beer on tap. The food is good and the menu interesting. The atmosphere is good and the staff very friendly. It's a great spot in downtown Barrie for a pint and a meal.

The Local is situated on the corner of the main street near the waterfront and is one of those places where almost the whole front is largely windows and they open and it gives the restaurant the feeling of a giant patio. The pillows in the booths are also a nice touch and make you feel like sitting back and hanging for a while is not only welcomed but almost required.
