Review The Old Spaghetti Factory - Banff

Denise Cheng
Great service. Delicious food. We could not have asked for a better dining experience! It is a quieter restaurant. If you are stuck considering eating in Banff…we highly recommend having a meal at the Old Spaghetti Factory.

I only heard of the old spaghetti factory a few years ago when I visited Hawaii and I was surprised to see it was also in Banff so I had to give it a try because I loved it the first time! The item that I had in Hawaii and loved was also on the menu here. I had the penne with pesto Alfredo sauce and added chicken. The sauce was just as I remembered and was delicious and filling. However, the pasta was a bit over cooked. The chicken was super soft and there was plenty in the dish. I also really enjoyed the starter bread. The garlic butter was very flavorful and addicting!

Great customer service. Amazing food and drinks. If you’re in Banff, you must come here once for lunch/dinner.

The decor was beautiful. Service was great. But the food was just average. Meatballs did not have much texture, it was too finely ground almost like sausage. The pastas were also overcooked. I understand not every one will prefer ’al Dente’ but it can be slightly less cooked. Garden salad was surprisingly good by the way. 3.5 stars.

The place was pretty busy when my family arrived which we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table which wasn’t bad, then it went down hill from there. We were put next to a table that had screaming babies which did not stop for 40 minutes and a table of 25 that were extremely loud. Next the service was not good at all, the server forgot multiple things such as salads before dinner and our ice creams after dinner. They were extremely slow, then we weren’t done the salads and the main course came. Unprofessional for sure. The only good thing about dinner was the food itself, as that is why it isn’t a one star.

Great food!! Love the all inclusive concept. Your meals comes with soup or salad, bread, ice cream and coffe. My favorite was the chicken ravioli.

Pesto linguine is amazing. Manicotti is good too. Spinach and goat cheese salad is a must try.

I normally would never write a review but this was a must. Went to Banff and decided to try this place out. We’ve had it in the past and it was alright. We just needed a quick bite before leaving. First the service was terrible, from hostess to servers. Second we got seated at the table right away upon arrival noticed the silverware on the table looks dirty, also a hair on the fork. (If that wasn’t a sign to leave I don’t know what is) we decided to not make it a big deal and leave we felt bad as the server apologized and grabbed us new silverware. We ordered a couple appetizers and our meals which were terrible. The food is another story. Airplane food smells and tastes better. Processed rubber chicken, soggy Caesar salad, pasta sauce from a can truly would have tasted 100% better. The waitress noticed we did not touch one thing or even move it with our fork, didn’t bother asking if there was a problem with the food. She already knows but it would be nice if she acknowledged that fact. Paid $80 for two people for the worst food and service I’ve truly ever had in my life. Also Would like to point out the other staff members are absolutely terrible, waiter next to us had long curly hair barely tied up, his shoes were FILTHY, bus boy was putting silver ware on the table touching the top of them (no wonder ours were so disgusting) it was over all a nightmare being in there and will definitely NEVER go back even if I was starving to death. I’d rather die :)))) go to earls across the street or McDonald’s even is much better

Solid 3.5 wish we could add the half points because sometimes it's the little things that count. It's great to have an all included price. You dont have worry too much about breaking the bank. We enjoyed the lunch lasagnas. One of the kids lasagna was dried out. The seafood linguine was pretty good. The potpourri lasagna was just ok. The pasta were al dente. Calamari was crispy. The bread was a hit with kyds. Not really sure it was sour dough bread. The waiter was pleasant but he seemed overwhelmed at times. He did forget our tea and coffee as did we in the end. He also pointed out what the overall total was after the gift cards were used just in case we couldn't calculate tip. The managers were nice and accommodating. This was a a nice location and we would return.

Something about a Canadian classic, the spaghetti factory. Salad or soup, bread, and dessert are all included with your pasta dish. Service is friendly and quick. The bread keeps coming throughout our meal. Pasta dishes are italian inspired with American sizes and flavors ( disappointing as it should be more italian and less American in flavor)
This is a great family friendly and/or big portion restaurant. Ps really loud too!

Old spaghetti factory has a big name but when I visited the place, I was very excited as a pasta lover but it wasn’t as good. The service was very ok because of the rush. The pasta that we ordered - Penne with Chicken was just fine and a bit bland tasting. The second wish was vegetarian lasagna which I wouldn’t recommend anyone to order. Still would go to this place one more time and give it a chance by trying something else. For now, I would rate it 2.5/5.

Been there for lunch. Main course with salad , bread and ice cream. Spaghetti should be better. Service is good enough. Not too much selection of alcohol.

We had a horrible experience that night
It was our first time my photographers were accompanying us to dinner the waitress took our order and I asked for vegetarian lasagna and mentioned to her that we are vegetarians and rest of the people on our table also ordered thier food
The first plate she brought out was a spegati but it did not have chicken in it and the lady who had ordered chiken and mushroom alfredo pasta said that she did not order alfredo spegati but chicken muchroom alfredo pasta she did not apologize and said that she heard alfredo spegati and went and changed her food
Then came our lasagna which me and my husband both had a bite out of and found out that there was meat pieces in it
We were both very upset as this is a religious issue I am a vegetarian by birth and do not eat any kind of meat on calling her and telling her the situation she instead of apologizing she insisted that we ordered meat lasagna she was very rude and the other people on the table told her that they heard me ordering vegetarian lasagna she still said she did not hear us saying the word vegetarian
Plus she also mentioned that the other people are having meat on the table and she doesn't get that we are having so much problem with meat I explained her that this is a religious thing and you should at least apologize for serving us meat but she grabbed the plate and said she will bring the vegetarian lasagna now
She came back in 2 minutes saying we dont have vegetarian lasagna and offered us soup but by that time I was very upset on eating meat and on her very very rude attitude towards us
I have never has such a bad experience before.
This is very unfortunate and I will never visit this restaurant again and will never recommend this to anyone as well
I couldn't talk to the manager as I was really upset and I also had a leg injury just minutes before the dinner I would like a phone call from the manager please
Thank you
rhythm.dawar89@gmail.com
This is a place we enjoy coming to when in Banff. The pastas are good and reasonably priced too. The canneloni is nice and creamy without being too heavy. The wait staff are always friendly too.

Please don't order New York steak, it taste like a cutting board. But services are friendly and prices are cheap. And why does this have to be140 characters long?!
Nikki
Absolutely love this place, everything is delicious and drinks are a good price. Service is always awesome and everyone is super friendly. The French onion soup is amazing and the lasagna it so hearty and cheesy!!
Mathi
Went in for a lunch was quickly Seated to drinks and bread, very nice staff food was ready unbelievably fast, had the French onion soup with the seafood linguine and a scoop of ice cream for $20. Quality food with great value. Will return for sure!

This place was fun and cheap. And let's face it - when your in Banff, cheap is nice.
Definitely worth a visit if your hungry as or feeling poor.

Food: 6/10
Service: 8/10
Vibe: 7/10
Value: 10/10

We went here after a day of skiing. The restaurant was nearly empty, but I found it a little weird that they sat us at the back corner away from the main area. They only had a couple of staff working so the service was very slow. Our server was very personable and friendly. The food was the standard Old Spaghetti Factory fare, big portions at a great price. The food was great.
Chiq_pea
Our waitress was lovely. We got free soup and bread as starters and a free tea after our dinner too! The food was also good for a chain restaurant. I had the seafood fettuccine Alfredo and it was great! Great value for money.
Aleah Gibb
This was our favorite place to eat in Banff. The food was so yummy and you get a lot of food for a great price. There is always neopolitan ice cream included in your meal too!
Jenny
Our server, I believe Kai(?), a tall young gentleman was great. He was attentive and detailed-oriented. Always checking in and bringing things in such a quickly manner.
The food seems a bit more consistent with the Vancouver locations (the one in Calgary is heavy on salt).
Rami
Went once and regretted it. Food was less than mediocre, honestly a 10 year old can make a better tasting dish!
the decore is ancient and the plates look like someone's nightmare
i dont want to bash the place but they need to urgently step up their game
Jamesbgood
Tried them twice and it was meh... Great for families wanting mediocre food at a good price. Other then that there are far better places to eat in Banff. I personally wont be returning.
Sally Anne
We had fantastic service. Thanks to Amelia for making our supper a wonderful dining experience.

Amazing server. Was here shopping on black friday and stopped in for lunch. Not a busy place (it was also blizzarding!), but I was so impressed with the service. Our guy (Chatty guy, i forgot his name! Sorry!) was amazingly helpful, and steered us away from ordering certain things based on the amount of food. When I got a doggy bag, he packed it up so nicely and even thought to put in cutlery when we mentioned we were staying in a hotel (and wouldn't have access to any). The food is never amazing, but it's always good. And on a cold blizzardey day, a nice meal of pasta was just perfect. Thank you!

Turned down. Our small familly has been turned down even though half of the tables were empty... guy said they didn't have enough staff. He didn't offered us to wait or anything.

Disappointed. Very disappointed in the service.
We arrived and noticed a few tables by the window open so we asked for one, first off she said this one is reserved so she sat us where it looked like where the staff sat down, then she realized she had a few open tables as we saw when we walked in.

Waitress was friendly but when it came to order she didn't bother mentioning the complementary soup/salad. Didn't bother bringing any bread. Food came out quick and our waitress did not bother to come to our table once to ask if we needed anything, I was going to ask for bread but by the time she came around I was done, she then cleared our tables let us sit and chat for a bit and dropped off the bill. On top or that she didn't bother asking if we wanted dessert., it baffled me how she would socialize with other tables and bring them the soup and salad and not with us?
We are paying guest not like we are eating for free.
ScottL
What a waste of time. Service was non existent, what little food we actually did get wasn't even good.

After being seated it was 20 minutes before we even saw our waitress. We ordered an appetizer, our meals, and our drinks all at the same time. We got the soup and salad from our meals, no appetizer, no drinks. After we asked about our drinks it was still another 10 minutes before we got them. Then our meals came out before our appetizer. It was at this point that we refused our meals and asked to see a manager. A manager refused to come over and talk to us. Our waitress came over and told us that she would take care of the bill.
I will never recommend this establishment to anyone ever again. I just hope the one in Calgary is better.

Try another place while in Banff. Banff is a beautiful place with lots of great restaurants. The Old Spaghetti Factory, however, is not one of them. The name of the restaurant sums up the quality of the food: "Old Spaghetti". While the host of the restaurant was great and the restaurant is large, the quality of the food was lacking. The meal comes with bread and garlic butter but the bread was stale and cold. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs which I assume would be one of the staple items but was very average (the meatballs were not very good). Our waiter did not want to be there and it was obvious. Even though we were his only table we had to ask for refills and our dessert which was supposed to be included with the meal. The menus were stained too.

Items on the menu are relatively cheap which I'm sure attracts people but my suggestion is to try another restaurant.
Tanya
Always a great experience at the old spaghetti factory Banff. We had a party of 16 including kids and adults. Food was great! The kids loved their meals. This is a very affordable restaurant. Most meals come with a soup or salad plus ice cream for dessert! And if course the starter bread is always delicious!
Ryan
Delicious hand made pasta. The portion sizes are big, and the bread and salad was delish.

Great pasta. Sometimes these chain restaurants aren't as good as they could be, but the Old Spaghetti Factory is great.
This place seems to be always busy, we headed in for a lunch and had a very lovely waitress who was quite attentive throughout the whole meal.

I think this is the best pasta i have had in Banff, i got the 'Spicy Chorizo Penne Al Fresca' perfect serving size and amounts of ingredients, my partner got the 'Penne with Chicken' which also was a great serving size and very tasty, i think maybe adding avocado to it would make it a perfect dish.

This is not really a place for a quiet relaxing time, a lot of parents head here with children so it does get quite noisy.
R.albrecht16
Mmmm. Our server was okay. She had a party of about 10-12 so I understand that she couldn't be as attentive to us, however when both of our glasses had been empty for about 5 minutes I kind of got annoyed.
Anyways, onto the food. Incredible! I had the soup while my mom had the salad, and both were great. The unlimited bread is deeeelicious! Now the best part, the veggie lasagna. It was the best I've ever had. My mom took a bite and said that we have to return so she can try it next time. Seriously, exquisite!! I'd go back a million times to taste that heaven on earth!

I am not a big fan of Italian food so I was avoiding this place fo a while, unfortunately this time it was my kids request and I gave in. Ended up with just sweet potato french fries which were very good as I am not a big pasta fan.The pasta my daughter ordered was apparently the best she had.
The whole experience was just ok. Waitresses in stained and dirty uniforms seemed rushed and unhappy. The whole restaurant decor not my cup of tea.
A lot.of people seem to like O S ff I am not one of them.

What a fantastic dinner with outstanding service. We very highly recommend The Old Spaghetti Factory to anyone visiting Banff. From the moment we walked in we were treated like valued guests by the greeters and our waiter. He was very accommodating with my special dietary requests and didn't even think twice into making some excellent menu suggestions. Wonderful, outstanding, awesome and fun.

The waitree was nice, but slow and forgetful.
Food was bland and room temperature.
Would not go back.

Best value in Banff. Having been to every OSF in the province, I can say that this OSF retains its reputation for good value. I had the spaghetti with three sauces (clam, meat and mushroom) and was pleased with the speed. The food itself, while not necessarily high-class dining, was filling and served very hot. The price and the fact that you get a salad, ice cream, coffee/tea and unlimited sourdough is what really make OSF the best value in Banff (including the ridiculously expensive McDonalds).

The service was awesome and loved the food .. Would definitely go back

Great Food. You will never leave this place on an empty stomach!

Love Banffs Old Spaghetti Factory! We make it a destination every time we are in the area. The food is great and the staff are amazing. Our most recent trip they were able to accommodate GF diet, picky eaters and those with 'healthy appetites'. Love the Spaghetti Factory, can't wait to go back.

THE FOOD WAS TERRIBLE. The spaghetti was so greasy i gaggedaftewr each bite i had to wash down

Great! This OSF is better than any I've been to in edmonton. We go here for lunch every time we come to banff. The minestrone soup is fantastic. This is a lower priced family restaurant so don't expect a 5 star dining experience but for what it is, it's awesome.

In tonite with my wife and two kids. Chicken dishes for my wife and I (butter/ garlic sauce for mine) chicken strips/fries for the boy and spaghetti
for daughter. All the mains generous and well done and very quick to the table depits the place being fairly busy.
Service excellent, value especially for kids very good $6 per meal. Overall 9 out of 10. Starter house salad always lackluster chain wide, not a fan of the spaghetti though, never have been but the chicken dishes are good.

Cheapest meal we had in Banff. We do not have this chain the states where I live. I noticed the cheap prices when passing the menu and decided to give it a chance instead of eating overpriced pub food for the 10th night in a row. The meal came with bread, a salad(or soup), entree, and then some desert. We even added an additional appetizer onto the meal and came away with a bill of $28 in food, which was the cheapest and most filling dinner meal we had all week. We decided to round out the night with a couple cocktails and they were more reasonably priced than anywhere else I had seen as well.

The food was typical "fast food" Italian. Similar to an Olive Garden. Tasted good, I was full, and my pockets didn't hurt. I'd come back again.

Great service, great food. Visited here today, we are from Australia and do not have Old Spaghetti Factory at home. We visited after it being recommended to us. Our waitress was very friendly and was informative. She was, lo and behold, also Australian! The food was tasty and very filling. The atmosphere was generally good. If we had a longer syay we would definitely return.

Meal was excellent. Service was amazing - highest tip I ever given - Keep up the great work.

Overall the food was okay. Definitely no better than you could make at home. Pre and overlooked pasta, and pretty bland sauce.

Salt block! Minutes after we left the restaurant we realized our mouths were coated in salt. Bottles of water couldn't wash it down. Never again.

We thought the service was great! Our food was very average an the spagetti was greasy! The server was on the ball , he knew his menu and his wine ! He also was very helpful for activities to do in banff!

It's amazing what a pleasant and helpful waitress can do to enhance ones dining experience. Having eaten at a horrible Calgary location I was hesitant to even go near the Banff franchise. Glad I did! A very efficient Australian young lady was our server. My wife ordered the seafood pasta while I had an assortment of three sauces on mine. Only seconds after we ordered did our freshly baked bread and salads arrive. The entrees followed shortly after. The food was hot and tasty. Our sampler of spumoni ice cream was brought to us at the end of our meal. Bread, salad or soup, an entree and dessert for two for less than $30! Now that is a good deal. They also had a deal going with the local theater in which you could purchase discount tickets. Great service, good food that you didn't have to wait for at an affordable price. A note to the manager of the Calgary franchise: you may want to spend an hour driving up to Banff to see how this restaurant is run. It's all in the staff that you choose :)
Pudgy
The German service was efficient. Friendly group of folks. Delicious food. Affordable prices. Great movie deal with your meal. Spumoni ice cream was a blitzkrieg of flavour on my taste-buds. Left with a little Luigi food-baby.
Erick.banker
Terrible!. The food was very mediocre. The service took forever and all my table ordered was spaghetti. When the table behind me full of girls was screaming, I asked the manager if he would quiet the table down and he said he couldn't do that.

Really just an awful experience.
Nigel Crook
Just finished a wonderful meal. The pot pourri spaghetti was great. Good service. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend this very reasonably priced restaurant.

Lets be realistic. I dine out a lot with friends and family all over the northwest North America among other places. I have been going to this restaurant for years and I have found over the years that the food has fluctuated from good to mediocre and back to good it has in the past two years improved from good to very good and the service is excellent. Now this is where I say lets be realistic this is a reasonable priced family restaurant not haute cuisine. For an outing I would recommend this one.
Aly
Great service. Our server was from Montreal and was extremely nice and he had an interesting personality! Apologized for the busyness & went the extra mile to ensure we were looked after. Would highly recommend the service; the food wasn't my thing, but it was fine.

You can't beat the value. Very good quality for the price. I really like it.

We went for a quick winter hike to Inkpots one afternoon and after the hike, I was starving and just wanted some lasagna. What better place do I want lasagna than The Old Spaghetti Factory from Banff! So, we went there, which is on the upper floor of the Cascade Mall. It was just after what I thought was the lunch rush, but I guess lunch rush doesn’t apply there as there was constantly people waiting! The nice thing is the wait is quick! Once we sat down, we got our drinks ordered and they came out with a hot loaf of sourdough bread and some butter. This was a perfect start to resting after our crazy little hike! The drinks we ordered was their Virgin Caesars as not only it was my favourite, it was on sale! It was really tasty and spicy – just the way I like it! Along with our meals was soup, so I upgraded mine to their Seafood Chowder and it was surprisingly good! Much better than expected. There was actual seafood in the chowder, the texture was good, and the soup wasn’t fishy or anything! The normal soup was the Minestrone which my husband seemed to enjoy quite a bit! He has always loved soup with pasta in it – so this was on his “Top 10″ list! My Lasagna came out piping hot with cheese melted! I was really exited to dive into it and when I did, I was in heaven! It was exactly what I wanted! A nice hot, cheesy, meaty, lasagna! The look of the dish doesn’t do its justice – I guess you’re going to need to order one yourself! My husband ordered their Spaghetti with Meatballs and it was a good sized portion! The meatballs where like mini meatloaves which was fun to eat! At the end of this, we were stuffed! But, apparently it came with Ice Cream with our meal! We decided we wanted the ice cream!! Soon after our waitress told us about it, a little bowl came with a perfect scoop of ice cream that was pistachio, chocolate and vanilla flavoured. It sounds weird, yes, I know, but it was truly awesome! I recommend this location for any time of day, especially for families a

For a little Italian franchise the Old Spaghetti Factory served up some flavorful dishes. We both really enjoyed the large portions and perfectly cooked food. The service was both fast and friendly. We received our thirty-six dollar bill, left a nice tip and headed next door to the liquor store to get some wine.
Eatincalgary
I should probably confess right from the start that I won't be going there again. Although the service was good, the food was way below expectations. We also didn't get spaghetti - so take this with a grain of salt if you are in love with the carb-rich pa
