Review Melissa's Missteak - Banff

Food was really good. I recommend the Avocado Toast. What made the places so fantastic was the street view from above. I wasn’t too big of a fan of the red pepper sauce on the salad I ordered but overall the experience was great. My brother ordered a burger and enjoyed it. Next time I am going to try the Egg’s Benedict!

Great food and nice value. I ordered the prime rib Benny and it sure is a blast. Meat is so tender and great taste. Eggs are little cooked. The Swiss apple pancake is yummy too. I would order adult menu to share rather ordering from the kids menu coz the kids menu is rather simple and drinks have to be ordered separately. There was a little mixed up of our orders but the server did his best to make it right. Great breakfast experience and we will definitely come again.

Awesome atmosphere, food was really good. Server was great and recommended places to see. Loved that they provided free wifi! We went in for breakfast and the menu was extensive! Such a good avocado toast that I could make vegan by asking, and ensuring it was good to go. The smoked salmon eggs benny - the salmon tasted like it was really fresh, sauce was super tasty and the egg over medium was cooked perfectly. Overall great experience. This place looks like it would be good for anytime of day! It looked like they have a stage for performances. Wouldn’t doubt this is the place to be at night or when something is going on here!

I miss the old place . But the new location is awesome the staff are real friendly The calamari was great as well as the dinner an the ice cream brownie is good too but it should be served on a different dish not on a mug, real warm vibe to this new location. Over all I'd recommend you visit Melissa's...

Service was friendly and the place has a nice décor to it. Great menu items and we went with the steak n eggs / hot roast beef. Both absolutely fantastic and highly recommended. I love their selection of hot sauces they have as well.

Not bad, not amazing. Food is decent. Ordered the Sirloin steak sandwich and Gorgeous George burger... Asked for medium steak sandwich, a bit over cooked and chewy for medium. The meat burger could be more juicy. Poutine and yam fries are good side choices.

This place has definitely won my loyalty. We had two versions of the Eggs Benny and they were both delicious. Our daughters loved thier pancakes and fruit bowl. Coffee was good and most importantly the service was excellent. Now we have a place to go when we're in Banff.

Amazing supper. Prime rib was melt in your mouth, and the ribeye was cooked to perfection!!! Calamari was so tender, and the tzatziki was so flavorful. And the service was attentive and friendly.

This is one of my favourite places in Banff because the food is delicious and it has character for days!! The menu is not modern but more like 70’s steak house ☺️ So many classic high quality options and even thought pizza menu is tiny, they will make you whatever kind and size you like. I definitely recommend checking this place out for dinner if you’re in town!

Great service and solid food. Prices were good as well. Had the sirloin steak sandwich with soup and the Gorgeous George burger with fries and everything was excellent. Great atmosphere, albeit a little older of an establishment. Would highly recommend. Many other menu options looked great also.

I have been here multiple times. Had a fantastic breakfast - tried their banana bread French toast and it was the best French toast I have ever had!

We went to Melissa's on the recommendation of our hotel who assured us it was one of the original institutions in town. The decor is very warm and rustic and the views of the street outside is nice. The food was unfortunately not that great. The french onion soup and the burger I had were both underwhelming. Also didnt find the service too great.

Been here several times for breakfast, every time needed to wait for a while but not too long. I like their wood structured interior decor. Food was good, dining atmosphere is lovely.

*******WARNING******* STAY AWAY FROM HERE IF you are NON-FLUENT ENGLISH SPEAKER

Disgusting server, extremely rude and racist.

Better educate your employee. Shame for your business.

Asked for water, ignored.

Walked away while we were putting an order.
Delivered food without manner.

Tried to taking plates away while I was eating.

Food was cold-pizza & stake.

Brought wrong bill at first.

Didn't even bring the change back to us.

-she do not deserve a penny!!!!!!

Strong feeling that reason why we got the worst service just because she probably thought we wouldn't be able to write any reviews in ENGLISH about her horrible service.

Absolutely unprofessional and undereducated pathetic server named 'Maris'

What a miserable person you are.

Being a racist in 21st century especially if you are working as a server in super touristic city?
Shocking

Good place for breakfast, we visited for 2 days in a row and had a good time over there. Must try place for breakfast and nice time . 2nd block from banff

I’ve decided something. And that something is, the best time to toodle around Banff is earlier in the morning on a cool spring day. Siddall and I were in Banff for a conference and left on the final day seeking breakfast in town. At around 9:30, we were ushered right to a table at Melissa’s Missteak.

I came here with my ex a few years ago, he absolutely loves this place, but I was personally not overly impressed. I ordered my steak medium, but it was super dry and overcooked. My soup and tea were both nice, but I wasn't personally a fan of the salad. The decor, however was absolutely amazing and I loved the feel for the restaurant. The food wasn't amazing, but I'd be willing to give it a second try and maybe order a rare steak to hopefully avoid it being as dried out as the medium one I ordered.

Cozy log cabin feel, perfect for this mountain town that welcomes the world throughout the year. Friendly service, decent prices and great vibes. The food was home cooking straight forward, simple, filling and delicious. Give it a try!

This restaurant is great. I come here whenever I make a trip into Banff because the service is always great and the food is even better. I would highly recommend the banana nutella crepes to anyone with a sweet tooth. Great for families, friends, dates, anything! Definitely a must try!

Haven't been here for lunch or dinner but frequent his place for breakfast when we're here. We always end up getting the same thing: eggs Benedict with hash browns and are never disappointed. Only crappy thing is they don't take reservations and there is usually quite a line up

Melissa's Missteak is a somewhat fancy restaurant with GREAT service. Our waiter was patient with us and explained/described things on the menu that we didn't understand. There was a bit of a waiting time (10 mins) but we were seated promptly after.
I started off with a potato and veggie soup (Soup of the day), which I did not like in the least. I couldn't make myself enjoy the broth so I handed it over to a friend who wolfed it down in minutes.
Next we ordered the Beef Stroganoff (which comes with your choice of a caesar or garden salad) was DELICIOUS. It tasted like it was homemade, and this is what makes me reluctant to rate this restaurant any higher. The food tasted homemade. I could cook this exact same beef stroganoff at home and get the same taste. Did I want to pay $23.50 for a meal I could have at home? That being said the portion was generous and very filling.
And last but not least, my friend and I got The Brownie Conspiracy. You really CAN"T go wrong with that one, it's got brownie, ice cream, chocolate syrup, whipped cream and a whole bunch of things and it's HUGE. It was a great way to end the visit.
In conclusion, would I go to Melissa's Missteak again? I would but other than the dessert, I would try ordering something else (not the burger, my friend said that tasted normal) because I really did enjoy my visit there. for those of you who like home cooked foods, you would definitely enjoy this!

We came here after seeing its' decent reviews on trip-advisor & left with disappointment

The steak was dry, the eggs were bland.. And the toast was burnt. And not just slightly burnt, they were ridiculously burnt. No way would any restaurant in Vancouver serve this.

A for effort for hiding it though 😑

Oh what a mistake to come here! Drove down to Banff for a night trip and was looking forward to trying breakfast/brunch. Server walked around with coffee/orange juice on her hands and offered us if we wanted coffee or orange juice to fill our cups (which we thought was in the house, only to find out we were charged $3 per small cup in the end of our meal - once again what a mistake!)
I had their Egg Benny and it's got to be the worst! Priced at $16+ I was expecting a good or atleast decent brunch however it had no flavour and the side of hash was nothing special. Service was lacking and our drinks was never refilled. This time it's not Melissa 's mistake, but only ours for giving this a shot. Well we all learn!

I was excited to finally try Melissa's Missteak I was very disappointed the food was very bland after reading a few reviews found that I shouldn't have waited so long to give it a try. I will not be goon back there are so many good restaurants in Banff no reason to repeat "Missteaks"

We have gone to Melissa's for years & years, and recently have become more & more disappointed. Service is not great, and coffee tastes like dirty water. That being said, the Swiss Apple Pancake is always a hit. There are not a lot of breakfast options in Banff, so this place is worth a try, though it won't wow you, it is better than McDonalds!
Stenoodie
Their pizza dough and sauce are both made from scratch! The mozzarella cheese was gooey and there were a ton of ingredients on the pizza like Alberta ground beef, pepperoni, bacon, ham, green peppers, olives, mushrooms, and onions. Yum! I had to be careful when holding a slice too because if you weren’t careful, some of the toppings might fall off! Needless to say, both of us girls couldn’t finish the pizza by ourselves though so Christian helped out.
Brandon Pilkington
Excellent service, prefect breakfast because the portion size and food quality are right on. Great value for sure, skip the continental breakfast at your hotel. We go every time we are in Banff.
Foodies At Heart
Overpriced for what you get. Steak was under seasoned and quality of meat was mediocre. Pasta of the day way okay, but seemed as if the ingredients were not of the best quality, and pasta was over cooked for my liking. If you're looking for a good steak, go to the keg. Better food for a cheaper price.

Melissa's Missteak is the actual name of the place according to the sign outside. The place is located away from all the touristy action, but I read good things so decided to drop by for brunch before we took from Banff for good.

The place itself has an old timey feel, as if we were eating in a lodging cabin (but much cleaner). The restaurant offers up breakfast foods and diner classics for what seems to be actual residents of Banff and locals. Menu includes breakfast classics, burgers, sandwiches, and diner steaks (which differ from actual steaks really).

I ordered the Club Sandwich with the soup of the day, Mexican Chili, while the fiance ordered the Fish N Chips. The club sandwich was huge. Definitely not a sandwich you can fit into your mouth....only I did. The meats were good and sliced a bit thicker than normal, which I enjoyed. However...no bacon? I thought all clubs come with bacon :(. The mexican chili was actually really good. Thick and savory with massive amounts of beef and beans. The fish and chips were alright. The giant haddock tasted fine and the batter was done OK.

Our server was great. She made small talk and answered all our questions including our personal curiosity of why so many Australians were living in Banff!? She was Australian herself and there were so many of them (tour guides, servers, store owners, etc) that it just struck my curiosity. (Not complaining though. Aussies are awesome!) The place is the perfect spot to grab lunch or a quick bite to eat. Real unassuming and non-touristy, so it was a good meal.
Tmoski
Service was mediocre for a tourist centre. A $6 smoothie that's a cup size is unacceptable (go to jugo juice or booster for 3 times the value). Eggs Bennie was alright. This place has a name in town but then again not a lot of breaky choices to begin with.

Fantastic food and service! BLT and Mixed Grill were really good. Menu is great, lots of choice. Coffee keeps coming and friendly staff. Love it! I'll be back!!

Being a runner this is runner's heaven. Melissa's is well known for their fall road race in Banff. Looking around the restaurant, I noticed Asics, Mizuno's, and Nike running shoes. I had the mixed grill and a large orange juice for breakfast. Anyplace but Banff, my large orange juice would be considered a small. The service is fast and highly efficient. The hour I was there, there was constantly a line up. The prices were probably on average for Banff. I thought it was a bargain except for the orange juice!

Busy, good food, good value. Just in Banff this past weekend with our family, on Saturday we were looking for somewhere to eat that wasn't just expensive and trendy. I'd seen Melissa's name pop up somewhere before so figured we would try it out.
It was busy when we walked in, but we didn't have to wait too long. It seems like turnover is fairly quick, the servers and bus staff are constantly moving. The side effect of this is it makes them seem curt and abrupt at times, which threw me off at first until I saw how the place operates. Get your food ordered, they move on to the next table, check on you periodically to see about drinks and so on, after the food comes they check to see how you find the food, and move on. Not much time wasted on small talk until they have a moment to catch a breather. When that moment came you could see them relax a bit, chat a little, oh you're going hiking, heading home, were you happy with the NHL draft, etc. Then it was back to work.
The food was great. My beef dip was juicy, perfectly done, as was my wife's burger. The rest of our family seemed happy with theirs as well. Price was best we saw entire time in Banff. I'm guessing the quick turnover allows them to keep the prices a little more reasonable.
The next day before we headed home we needed to eat, of all the places we thought we could try, it was unanimous that we went back to Melissa's. I'm not a big fan of bennie's, but love chorizo so went with the chorizo benedict. Excellent, the crumbled chorizo was the right amount of spicy and smoky, blended well with the sauce. My wife loves bennie's and got the regular benedict, remarked how much she enjoyed it. Again the price was right too.
Melissa's will definitely be on our list the next time we are in Banff.

Last time I visited Banff, it was November and already snowing. It is still definitely colder in Banff than in Hamilton but at least most of the snow has melted. The mountains are still as spectacular as I remember. Trapezista was a lucky girl to be able

Food was average. Service was average. Overpriced. This once was a really good place to eat.

Eggs Benedict!!. Best bennies I have ever had. Very good food!

Miss Steak? Nope, just a mistake. Low quality, overpriced.. Will not be returning to Melissa's Miss Steak.

Arrived for dinner at 6:00pm to discover they were already out of the prime rib. The place was not busy, and it was early in the evening, so why would they be out of prime rib already? The response when posed that question was, "the menu says while it lasts., so..." Quite a sassy response to a seemingly logical question. However, other than the sassy response, the server was quite good.

The food, on the other hand, was dismal. My 8oz steak was just under $30 and was thin, overcooked, and very tough. My wife's salmon was downright disgusting. It didn't even taste like salmon. The baked potato was cold on the inside, and I don't understand how that's possible unless it's refrigerated and reheated. There were 5 adult meals, but the best meal was the hotdog that the kids ordered.

Terribly disappointed with Melissa's. It was a memorable failure to a wonderful day in Banff.

Worst eggs Benedict. Over priced. I just ate at Melissa's. Was told if it's great eggs Benedict. They used a egg poacher machine that produced hard over cooked spongy eggs and the sause was packaged and horrible. Very disappointed! Do not recommend. Will not be back.

Move em in move em out. This is a volume breakfast place. Good for families, kinda felt like a mountain version of Phil's. The food was ok. The bacon was good. They forgot our sauages on the mixed grill. But it was quick and the service was ok and we were seated pretty fast. So it was good just don't expect gourmet brunch and it will be fine.

Great breakfast. Fast. Efficient. Friendly. As always.

Disappointed. For many years Melissa's Missteak restaurant in Banff has had a good reputation, at least for breakfast.

Recently, we decided to check it out for supper but I was disappointed. To start with, I was disappointed with the waiter's lack of interest. Not once did he has how the meal was, if he had, I would have told him the mashed potatoes were not as fluffy as one would expect, to the point of being gooey. I would have asked for some hot sauce or some kind of spice to give the poor, pan-fried fish some flavour. He did ask if we were interested in dessert in a timely manner; we asked for a minute to decide, but by the time he came back we had lost interest. Buddy, would it hurt you to smile?

I won't go back there. It was not a good value for the money.

Awesome Breakfast. If your looking to kick start your day for some skiing or snowboarding I Highly recommend the breakfast here. Portion sizes are unparalleled, and the customer service is amazing!! Definitely a gem in the heart of Banff.
Rafalgubala1
10 oz steak looks like 8 oz and was overdone.

Excellent and fast service! Great place to take little kids :). We went there for breakfast based on reviews we found here on urbanspoon, and we were pretty impressed. They are very family oriented and the kids breakfast options were pretty cheap (about $5) and had really good portion sizes for the price. My one picky toddler got the fruit bowl breakfast and I was impressed with the quality and variety of the fruit provided (blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, apple chunks, pineapples). My other little one got the egg, bacon, pancake breakfast (can't remember the name), and the pancake was MASSIVE! We ended up splitting the pancake between the two of them. Great place to take little kids :)

The Big Breakfast. I enjoyed this same meal 24 years ago on my last visit to Banff. I craved the Big Breakfast and had it is a must do on my last visit to Banff, I was not disappointed. If change is good then this is one where I disagree, the food was as good now as it was almost a quarter century ago. Hopefully I will be back before another quarter century

BANFF BREAKFAST HOW BREAKFAST SHOULD BE !. Clearly these folks know what they are doing. Melissa's is located in a Banff heritage building. Just the building alone is something to see. This place was very busy when we arrived. No problem Melissa's runs like a well oiled machine. I ordered the smoked salmon benny. It arrived in good time, served by a happy waitress and was delicious. Breakfast is always available till 4pm. This restaurant can accommodate very large or small groups. Luvs it!!

Excellent service. food and serving size is good.
Ben
The owners of this place would not spend a peeny more for quality ingredients. The pancake were from a cheap mix where you just add water, the eggs seemed like they were bagged scrambled , the bacon was deep fried to save cooking time and the sausages were spiced.. Not pure pork. I would suggest this place only if you don't have a sense of taste or know good quality. There are much better choices in Banff.

Was craving eggs Benedict, it's my favourite dish.. I googled the best eggs Benedict in banff and Melissa's had the best reviews. My girlfriend ordered the pancakes and had one bite, unedible, they would be better off selling them on the street corner as frisbees. I had the chorizo eggs Benedict.. The "chorizo" was not chorizo, it was ground beef that was dryer than a popcorn fart and seasoned poorly with chili powder. The only plus was that the service was fast and the waitress was extremely nice.. If you want a pleasant meal, this is not the place to go. Will not be returning.
FoodFanatic
Brutal Food. My husband, daughter, and myself went to Melissa's tonight and the food was terrible. I had the chorizo and sundried tomato Mac and cheese and my husband had the ribs. My pasta was way overcooked and the vegetables that came with my husband's ribs were limp and cold. The so-called bread that they served with the meal was like an oversized dry muffin that happened to be in the shape of a small loaf of bread. Apparently the ribs were OK, but nothing spectacular. Definitely not eating there again.

Wow..best server ever..really. Two adults,two squids..oops,I mean kids..:),breakfast..and one hamburger(extra bacon),was here ten years ago on a whim while passing through,had a good meal,ten years later,ditto..staying power..nice. Well done people.

The Urban Spoon really needs to check their email more often. When we searched places to done in Banff, Melissa's came up with a big banner across the top of the screen saying, "Temporarily closed". We were so bummed out, but thank GOD we were driving past and saw that MELISSA'S IS NOT CLOSED! Apparently the locals have emailed them numerous times to tell them that they are in fact open and have been for almost two weeks.
This is one of our favorite restaurants for b' fast, lunch or dinner, and it's a shame that so many tourists/visitors must have missed out on this excellent venue due to misinformation or failure to read emails and make appropriate changes to their site.
The worst part for me is that I was just starting to use Urban Spoon regularly, but now I see that the information provided on their site is not current, and/or unreliable.

Heartless. I thought the food was great and came in a very timely fashion. our waitress was great but our whole experiance turned bad after something i witnessed some of the staff participating.( and i mean some not all) i left my table to grab something from my vehicle and witnessed a waitress and the blond lady seating people standing there pointing and talking amongst themselves about an elderly man pushing his wife in a wheelchair, the curb was higher then he expected and basicly dumped his wife out of her wheelchair and struggled to get her back in and up the curb. i ran down the hallway out the door and assisted of course u would think anyone with heart would help,. instead they decided it was funny to stand and watch through the window and point. On my way back to my table they were still standing there joking and chuckling to themselves about how hard they tried not to burst out laughing with huge grins on there face. then i sit down and realize the old man and women are in there eating. approached her and she of course denied it, yet i witnessed it.you have to be pretty sick to laugh at old people falling on the ground. ruined my whole experience. loved banff everyone was great and this was my last experiance there and was quite disapointed

Think Twice!!. My wife and I were in Banff on the weekend for our anniversary. We stopped in for breakfast on Sunday morning. We waited 10mins or so to be seated, no big deal..
Then a very disinterested looking waitress filled our coffee and said would be back with menus. After about 15mins, and empty coffee cups, I flagged down another waitress. We ordered our breakfasts and about 20mins later they arrived to our table, cold...
We each only ate about half our food and left, very disappointed (we have gone before several times, always hit or miss).

Once we returned home to Calgary, we were both very ill for the rest of the day...
So, in short, if you are looking for a place with spotty service, cold food and a case of food borne illness... Melissa's is the place for you!

If not, just go to McDonalds..

Excellent!!! Best service anywhere! Always open to customizing and making sure you enjoy the meal

Miss Steak?. Who loves a little extra beef?

Surly the best outing is one where you know that when you leave, you will leave satisfied. Feel the love of the Alpine cabin-like setting of one of the original Steak Houses in Banff; Melissa's Miss Steak. Another gem in the heart of the rockies. Slay 3.75 Pints, all day, every day, ohh ya. Free popcorn. But lets talk Steak. Daily for under 10$, you will find the true Banff steak sandwich dining experience.

That says it all,

Melissa's, not a mistake.

P-Steak,

Out

Think we can all ignore Paul because he can't even spell breakfast. But the place is decent. Slow service but the people live in banff. Hungover. Give them a break and leave a tip.
Julie
Terrible beyond awful service. Food is only ok. Did I mention the service is terrible? Absolutely terrible.
Elaine
Don't eat here!. Had been to Mel's years ago and I'm really sorry we went back. Grubby surroundings, non existent staff and really bad food. It took us 15 minutes to get coffee and menus from a disinterested possibly hung over server. 20 minutes after that our server appeared to take our order. 45 minutes later our meal arrived. I had the Heuvos Rancheros. What a mistake as they were cold and tasteless. Nothing like I remember. My husband had eggs Benedict which were so over cooked they looked and tasted like hockey pucks. I would have complained if I could have found someone that cared. Don't go to this restaurant. If you want the best breakfast in Banff, go to Tooloulou's.
Misia
I ordered the Classic Eggs Benedict, which was good. However, the hashbrowns that came with them were extremely undercooked. They still had the raw potatoe crunch, not the cooked crispy crunch. As well, the waitress only came to clear plates once we were finished, and never bothered to fill our water glasses once, which were all empty when she finally came around. I have always heard good things about this breakfast place, however am dissapointed with the service and food.
Kar
Sooo yummy! Love how you can order one, two, or three eggs. Topped with some Smoked Tobasco sauce (as recommended by our server on our first visit), makes a lovely combination of flavors and goodness!
Gina
Not what it use to be. This place was such a disappointment for me and my family. We had prime rib which was stingy fatty and tasteless. I have had prime rib often and never had it as bad as this. The service was good. Our waiter was friendly. The meals my kids had were nothing special. The kids said the fries were good. The chicken fingers over cooked and my sons steak had fatty chunks which he had to spit into his napkin. It was a waste of a hundred dollars for the four of us. I would rather eat a Big Mac then have prime rib here again. I will never be back
Dana
The food was wonderful and the services was awesome. A wonderful peace to go if you have kids too!
Johan Capellan
Great tasting breakfast. I've read that the service was hit or miss, which in my experience is true. I went for breakfast with my girlfriend and upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by friendly staff and were seated shortly after. It didn't take very long to get our orders, they even made a grilled cheese for my girlfriend which wasn't on the menu. But after our food was delivered the wait staff pretty much disappear or tend to the other customers' orders. We had to work a little to ask for drink refills and the bill, but in my opinion it was a minor thing not really an annoyance. Strongly recommend this place for breakfast!
Amber
I Stop here everytime I am in banff. The food is amazing that is the only reason I come back. The service is AWFUL. We have been yelled at many times by the bitchy hostess and have had terrible service from the waitresses. Today our waitress was no better. The waitress even brought out our food, (special request was made) stated that they made it wrong and put it down in front of us. Awful awful customer service
Nicole
Great food, very poor service. The waitress is extremely rude.
Diaz
The food is excellent, been here several times and never been disappointed with the food. The only thing that is disappointing is the service and the friendliness of the staff. They are very rude and very slow. Our server took her 15 mins to bring a menu to us after we were seated. Then threw our drinks on the table. She kept giving us dirty looks & avoiding our table. Terrible service for a place that serves excellent food.
Adam Warmuth
Good breakfast, interesting waiter.... Title says it all. Girlfriend and I had the eggs benny. Was nearly perfect. I've only had one better in my entire life. Quite happy with that. Waiter was a little off though. Kind of ruined the experience. He seemed like he had either the roughest night ever or had a handful of muscle relaxants for his breakfast. Very monotone and very disconnected.
TeMo
Incredibly mediocre. I've heard the Melissa's name frequently as a Banff icon due to the road race so when we ended up parking across the street we decided to give it a try for dinner rather than our original plan of walking up to The Keg. Unfortunate for us as it was an incredibly mediocre experience that left us feeling unimpressed. The service was painstakingly slow, food average to below, prices high. There are a lot better places to eat in Banff.
Cait
Best steak sandwich ever ! I've had a few steak sandwiches throughout banff but Melissa's is by far the best
CgyMom
Good filling food. Went for breakfast and was more than satisfied. This restaurant is a landmark that should be visited.
Paul
Terrible low quality food at premium prices. Breckfast was terrible. Avoid this dinner.
Jess
Not really good at all. Cheap, low grade quality food, for which they charge a premium. Same coffee as we get for free in our hotel room, rubbery steamed? eggs, low grade, undercooked sausage, and undercooked hash browns. Not certain how you can get breakfast so wrong...that's why we suspect they start with poor ingredients.
Brad Ressler
Went for breakfast. Good breakfast, good attentive service. Will go back.
NJ Baker
The French onion soup was awesome! :) it was a generous portion so we shared and it was a great start to the meal as well as a nice way to warm. Super tasty. Definitely in my top 5 of greatest French onion soups. I had the "Mel's Own" chicken sandwich and while The ingredients were all fresh and tasty it was extremely bland! So therefore disappointing. Could have used some sauce or spices... Even a dash of salt would have done it some good. My girlfriend had the tuna melt. Lots of melted cheese (a little too much) but ever-so tasty! Very large portion (I took half with me.) A little pricey considering it doesn't come with a side. Overall the whole tab was in fact a bit pricey, but by banff standards it is actually quite average. Overall I'd say a 6/10
Derek
Best Pub In Banff. Great Service, great food.

best pizza in Banff, great service too. They relaize you are there to watch the game, and let you enjoy yourself, but are quick to re fill your pop, or beer.

great prices, and the other customers were friendly.

They have a juke box as well, with a great variety. Excellent for a fun night
Cindy
Please people do not eat at this restaurant, i didnt mind that this place looked run down and rustic i can get over that, but the food was horrible. my husband and i went here for dinner one night we went to banf, i ordered the 8oz salmon maple glazed i had the ceasar salad with it the salad was tooo salty and it was the tiniest bowl they could find to fit it in.my salmon was over done and the veggies that it came with carrots were hard as rocks the baked potatoes were the smallest baked potatoes i have ever seen in a restaurant.my hubby had the prime rib it was sliced so thin you could see through it. for $24 each entree we felt ripped off. the food had no flavour i can cook better food at home. we were going to come back in the morning and have there breakfast but after the dinner dissapointment we decided to go to rickys and loved it,the prices were resonable and the food was delish.the french toast at rickys was very good.please dont bother spending your hard earned money at melissas.

Service Completely Horrifying!!. A large group of us came in on the Sunday of the April long weekend. We were greeted by a very hostile hostess, who was quite rude. We waited 20 min. for tables to open. Once we were ready to be seated, we discovered there was one setting missing. It brought this to the attention of the hostess that we were missing a seat. She went balistic, at this point. She started screaming at me for giving her an inccorect count. I told her, we didn't. We said 11. At this point she threw the menus at us. Completely disgusted, we left immediately. We will never come back to this establishment. ever again. Coincidently, it was be a big "Missteak" to eat here.

A must.... When visiting you have to try their breakfast! Definitely worth the wait! Yum

Love IT!. I went to Melissa's for the Prime Rib special they have Friday's and Saturday's. It was melt in your mouth prime rib, they nailed it with a yorkshire pudding to boot. If you like Beef this is the place to eat it. Went back to try the steak and it was just as good along with these ginormous shrimp. Staff is friendly and efficient they have to be because this place is busy.

Awesome breakfast! Super impressed with the deep dish pizza we ordered for our kids one night too. Definitely give it a try.

Really mediocre. This place was recommended by the desk staff at our hotel and it was a disappointment. Had the pancakes were nothing to right home about and the glass of orange juice was small and bland.

They had absolutely nothing in the way of allergen-safe/gluten-free menu items. A disappointment.

Very Subpar - Won't go back. We ate their on Saturday night. The waiter was the only good part of the experience.

The food was so below average. The calamari was disgusting. It was pre-packaged and seemed like it was from a McCains bag. The vegetables appeared to just been tossed on our plates and were very bland. Just steamed with no butter or seasoning added to them. We had baked potatoe's with our meal, and instead of the waiter coming around with the condiments and serving the condiments they were brought to us in little tin single serving cups (similar to those ketchup cups you get at McDonalds). The steak was okay- nothing spectacular.

When I am being charged 4 to 5 star prices, I expect the quality of the meal and service to reflect the price. I could have ordred a fried steak at Phil's and had a better presentation of the meal. My husband thought I was being a little to critical until he got sick during the night.

Will give it a second chance. My dining companion and I went for breakfast on Sunday. They have an impressive lineup which they managed rather well. 15-20 minute wait they said, and that's what it was. The service was really quick and they manage to turn over customers quickly. Good thing, because they are really busy.

Both of us had eggs benny with a side of hashbrowns. The food is good, but nothing spectacular. It is good if you are looking for a filling breakfast to hike on and good for families.

I would give the food a second chance and come back for dinner.

We decided to go to Melissa's Restaurant for breakfast. We were seated in about 15 minutes, not bad for 11am on a Saturday. The food was good, and the service was quick and pleasant. I would go back.

Great Eggs Benny!. I love stopping here for breakfast anytime I am in Banff. They serve a great breakfast, especially the eggs benedict. Just to forewarn you, some of the servings are very large. So if you are looking for something light, I would go with the half order!

Great 4 Breakfast!. Get there early on the weekend as you will wait in line...good food and service.

I only tried breakfast and this was good every morning. Except you could tell the differences in the kitchen. ( by the food preparation I could tell which cook was in charge, minimum 3 to 4 different cooks ) Waitress very helpful and was making good for her mistake the next morning. :) I wish there would be more consistency in food preparation and that the owner would say goodbye to customers. Overall this is the way I like an American breakfast. Also the children menus are very good. My favourite breakfast place and we did like our German speaking waitress.

The only reason you should be eating breakfast here us if you appreciate being treated like cattle at a feed lot and need a large portion of tasteless calories at a reasonable price for your upcoming day hike

If u want your meal to be ruined by a mouthy waitress and drink a cup of coffee that tastes like propane, then this is the place to come.

I was a bit concerned due to the out of date atmosphere but have to say prices were excellent fir area and food was great - although we all stuck with steak. Also great cheap kids menu - my daughter was supremely happy to finally get KD on vacation! Staff helpful & friendly

Although the staff were so nice, the food tastes not good at all. We ordered soup, starters, and beef stew; none was tasty at all. We won't go there again for sure
Gluten Free Edmonton
Melissa's restaurant is a steak house that serves a mean breakfast. There was nothing standout that says gluten free,

The next morning, after flipping through a few guides, we decided on Melissa's for brunch. My boyfriend had the "classic" steak and eggs, while I went for the "fancier" crab and asparagus omelette.

Lunch for two in Banff, under $50: Melissa’s Restaurant is located one one of the streets parallel to the main one (218 Lynx St, Banff). It’s a very nice place, with a wooden-chalet feel inside and quite popular for both lunch and dinner. I for one prefer
