The Balkan is easily my favourite restaurant and is by far The best place to dine in banff. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff are second to none. I highly suggest dining during Greek night which is every Tuesday at 8:30pm, the Balkan hosts a belly dancer to get diners in the mood then continues with Zorba the Greek Dancers which consist of some diners dancing through the restaurant and smashing plates. Keep in mind that this is not a budget restaurant, you'll pay a pretty penny for your meal but it's worth every red cent.
We were greeted promptly in this busy, fast pace restaurant, our reservation was ready and we were seated at a lovely table. Our waiter was astounding, so passionate about Greek food, full of suggestions right away, we had the appetizer platter(so yummy) and the lamb dish that the restaurant specializes in.... seriously the best thing I've ever eatten. The food came quickly, the drinks were lovely and the water was never empty. You will not be disappointed if you eat here.
My fiancé and I were there tonight for dinner and all I have to say is WOW!!! I had the Lagos Stifado, my fiancé had the salmon. This place did not disappoint at all. The ambiance was very nice, the service was great and the food was beyond amazing. I highly recommend this place. 10/10.
P.s. I've been a cook for quite some time now and I've cooked in a Greek restaurant, this chef nailed the homemade recipes that the owner(s) provided for the Greek dishes.
The guys liked my instagram Banff picture, so I payed them a visit. Clean place, nice staff and delicious food. Will recommend!

We had the most amazing meal while at The Balkin in Banff recently. We were taken care of by William - who is AMAZING - he recommended the Cucumber Collins which is now one of my favourite drinks. He was witty and charming and made us feel like we were family. His dinner suggestions were all amazing - from the flaming appetizer, sagenati - to the most delicious Mousakka!! My hubby had the rack of lamb and has never had better!! Definitely a must if you are in Banff! Thanks for making our last dining experience in Banff a great one!
The Arno Psito was the best lamb shank that I have ever tasted. The Greek beer was good and the service was excellent.
I love Greek food and this was the best I've ever had. The service was awesome as well, just outstanding, you don't want to miss this place for healthy, delicious Greek.
Thank you for preparing our fresh catch lake trout dinner! I am so glad the fishing guide recommended The Balkan to prepare it. Chef Hayden prepared a wonderful meal of potatoes, rice and vegetables to compliment our fish. Service top notch!

We celebrated a birthday and anniversary with dinner at Balkan. The food and service were terrific. There was so much food that we were still eating it for two days after!
Food is always outstanding. The service is great too. A bit pricy, but Banff is.
The food here is amazing. We tried three appetizers (calamari, dip trio, and salad) plus we had desert (baklava). I had the pork chops and my wife had leg of lamb for dinner.. We would certainly eat here again. The portions were the right size and the flavors were perfect. It was a great dinner with great service.
We entered this restaurant and it had a beautiful vibe of a Greek environment with elegant decoration. This was the best Greek food I have had in all of Canada with fresh veggies and on order made meat. Every single item had a different and exquisite taste which the flavor bursts into your mouth. Try this out if you are in banff and our host Scott made it all better with his amazing personality.
This place was highly recommended by alot of locals. Tired of eating the reg western fries and burgers. We settled for something more fullfilling on the pricey side. Love the atmosphere, very welcoming inside. Our expectations were met. Service was amazing Luke was very helpful and knowledgeable. Service is 11/10. Food was good and delicious. We had the Lamb Shank it was good and had the pork chops. Would def go back and try more dishes cause everything we had was delicious.
Great service and very good food. Not cheap but still a good value. The grilled meat sampler plate for 2 was really good with salad and starters. The pasta with mussels was also very flavorful. The lamp shank was also very good. Maybe make a reservation if you go with a large group.
Lamb shank is cooked well, the texture is right on. Though I think the gravy's a bit salty. The ultimate Greek feast is great, portion and quality-wise. Overall very good service and good vibe.
Great food. Had in house entertainment - a belly dancer. Which was great but a little awkward when she was right at your table and you're not really sure what to do or say or look. But overall a great experience that we still reminisce on and laugh about today.
