Review The Juniper Bistro - Banff

Quiet (april visit),convenient to skiing. Lots parking. BISTRO FOOD IS OUTSTANDING! Burger deal! Super friendly staff! 20 min to Sunshine, hotel right by highway. Agree with others: concierge AWOL, too bad no hot tub, and no daily housekeeping unless you ask. The food, the views, convenient location keep us coming back! Discounts for multi day stay

This traditionally has been my favourite place to stay and usually stay 12 + nights year + book rooms for conferences for coworkers. The hot tub broke and they are in zero rush to replace it and being in Banff it is pretty much an expectation after a long day of skiing. Ownership has zero interest in replacing it nor does it advertise that it is not working prior to booking. If the hot tub gets going, I will return. Until then, I won’t.

The Juniper is across highway which makes for great views and a bit more silent of a stay - though if you plan on walking into the town center, you'll have to make your way across a couple texas gates! The hotel is extremely limited in amenities. The rooms are quite large but other than that - there is no hot tub, no supplied water bottles, no complimentary breakfast - only a very pricey breakfast is provided in the restaurant. The concierge is pretty MIA as well as we tried calling down a couple times with no response. For the same price as other hotels, I recommend staying elsewhere.

We loved our stay at the Juniper!! The location and view from the room were both spectacular. They were also kind enough to help us make our anniversary extra special by upgrading us to a suite! So thankful for that.

Got a booking during a deal! Need a place within 5 min driving distance from Banff? I would highly recommend this Hotel! Staff are friendly and accommodating, while the rooms are nice and tidy! One thing to mention is that they did not have an elevator so if you come needing support just let the staff know! Food was amazing, we had the duck wings from their Bistro which only required a quick walk down to the restaurant or a small delivery fee as well. Will be returning again!

Used to be good. Walls are basically made of paper. I can hear people having a clear conversation in the room directly above me. Hot tub is also gone which was really nice. Don't stay here if you want a good night's sleep

Great location if you like to stay off the main town. Good food and excellent view from restaurant. All south facing rooms have gorgeous view but if you're sensitive to traffic sound, you should take north facing rooms.

This hotel is located across the highway from Banff, this makes it a bit quieter. The location is great and a nice walk into the town, so no need to pay for parking. There is lots of land to go for a peaceful walk or snowshoe in the winter. Ski at Morquay as it it just up the mountain. The hotel is lovely, interesting art in nooks and crannies in the halls and in the lobby. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The beds and pillows luxurious, I always sleep well here. There is a fabulous restaurant on site that serves breakfast or brunch I should say as it is available until about 1pm. Also supper is served although with Covid not necessarily every night. The food is fantastic, we've never had a bad dish there. Then menu is varied, wild meat, vegetarian, vegan and glutenfree are available. The patio is a favourite spot to sit and enjoy the view! This hidden gem is in full view and not to be missed.

You will never go wrong with food at this place!!!Most fancy restaurants in Alberta can't compete with chef who is working Juniper Bistro!!! 120% the best food is here because the best chef is working here( I dont know the chef in person, but his food is saying everything).

On our recent trip to Banff and Jasper we hopped around hotels. The Juniper was definitely our favorite and we decided this is where we would stay if we ever returned. We had a mountain side room on the first floor. the 2nd floor has true balconys that we didn't have but it didn't bother us much since the hot tub was just 2 rooms down from us so it was an easy run over. Hot tub was a little small and really only comfortably fits one group of people but again that didn't bother us since we were the only ones in it when we were there. bike rentals were only $10/day so it was WAY cheaper than other hotels or rentals from town. It took us a simple 5 minute bike to get to town. The hotel and views are GORGEOUS!!!! We ate a dinner and a breakfast meal at the bistro and their food was one of the best that we had!!!! I had the stuffed French toast and it was delicious as well as the lingcod for dinner and it was also very good. So impressed with this hotel.

The best place in town to eat a gourmet dish ! Most of the places in Banff offer very rich dishes but not this one. I strongly recommend it !!!

There is nothing I would change about our six day stay at the Juniper. The location is perfect distance from everything and it made a great home base to travel from and explore. The staff is so kind, the suite is huge and the fireplace so cozy — the view is incredible and the food is some of the finest meals we’ve ever eaten with such complex and bright flavor combinations. All around amazing stay.

Beautiful hotel! Wish we had stayed here. We went to breakfast and it was delicious. If you’re in Banff, this is a must to try out for breakfast. The views are spectacular and the service is impeccable. It’s secluded and surrounded by nature. I especially liked getting away from the hubbub of the town. But it’s close enough to the town if you need to. There is also free WiFi and free parking! I’m going to stay here next time!

Spectacular view from the unpretentious dining room. Service was prompt, food was good. Definitely a must visit spot. Perfect for an occasion!

My wife and I booked a second floor deluxe king room. The rooms themselves are small and the hot tub is as well. The food is what really makes this a great experience. Every single course along with excellent service really made our stay pleasant.

Absolutely great place, super excellent food. Super team. Had breakfast there (very nice team!!) and decided to come back for dinner also. Were served by André Ann and colleagues. Had the chance to meet the chef and say thank you for the excellent dinner we had. Enjoyed our stay visiting Banff. Thank you very much. Will definitely come back, promised!

We stayed at the Juniper for one night from October 24th to the 25th/15. We enjoyed our stay and the views are just beautiful. The biggest disappointment, was waking up to our room stinking like pot!!! I was pissed. We had our child with us and he was almost sick from the smell. We had to skip breakfast and hurry to pack, which made our son forget his fav. hat, and get out before our son was sick!! I don't care what other people do as far as smoking or drinking, but use some common sense and take it outside away from the building!! When I spoke to the lady at the front desk in the morning all she had to say was sorry!! We liked the hotel, but we will never stay there again and I will not recommend it to anyone. Very disappointed!!!

June 22, 2017.. Why I gave it a 5* star.. it was a momentous occasion for my nephew and niece from Australia, it was their 10th wedding anniversary and their birthdays at the same day so we booked a space at Juniper base on all the reviews. Well, it was as the reviews said.. from the service we received, the pleasant atmosphere, the host at the front for his brilliant idea of a surprise birthday and anniversary wish display on plates, and the food!!!! melt in your mouth... for its quaintness .. the quality sure is above and beyond .. on top of that.. the spectacular view of the mountains and sunset.. it's our new discovery and will definitely share with everyone.

Paper thin walls! Woken up by a hairdryer in the adjacent room at 7 in the morning. Thumping footsteps above also did not help. Bedding was so so. However, staff was nice. Booked the last room apparently. No view although others raved about the view. It's off season and this room wasn't worth the price we paid.

AMAZING! Everyone from the front desk to the bistro staff are friendly and helpful. The location Is perfect if you want to be close to banff but far away enough to enjoy a small hotel surrounded by the beauty quite nature can ofer! Beds are extra comfy too The food is amazing! Even if you don't stay here ( which would be silly not to given the choice!) come to the bistro everything I order on the menu was great. Hotel is also environmental conscious! The Juniper Hotel & Bistro is my favorite place to stay when snowboarding!

Beautiful hotel with an amazing view of the mountains and the staff was very friendly and knowledgable about the hotel and Banff. Was our first time staying here but compared to the other places we've stayed in Banff The Juniper will be the hotel we will be returning to for our future visits to Banff.

Most of it was amazing. I had a annoying experience with a rude waitress but most of it was fine and dandy. There's a hot tub too!
