Such a gem of a place! So much variety that also includes seasonal donuts. HFT is different from your other donut shops in that the donuts are flash fried and then baked so if you care about calories, this will make you feel better!
This is one of my go to places when we’re invited somewhere and want to bring something small- it’s always a hit!
These are definitely more of your basic, coffee-shop style donuts. No fancy or crazy flavours, although cinnamon toast and the caramel skor were a nice surprise. They were fresh and soft and honestly earned an extra star for the fact that they are “healthier” donuts! I’ve eaten many a donut in my day and I really think if you gave someone one of these and didn’t say anything, they would have no idea it wasn’t a full-calorie donut.
Best donuts ever! Apparently less fat than regular donuts, but they definitely don't taste like "diet donuts" they taste amazing! The S'mores donut is my favourite. I love the marshmallow whipped cream filling. I drive all the way from Ottawa for these donuts. Fortunately, Farm Boy sells HFT donuts now, but only limited flavours. So I can at least still get my fix without driving to Almonte, lol.
How did I not know about this place!?! Amazing donuts!! Just happened to find it while searching for breakfast in Almonte as we passed through town. Could NOT tell the difference between the regular and vegan donuts. Adult and kid APPROVED!!
We love this small outlet with wholewheat donuts and a variety of flavors. You can have the stuffed donuts (lemon, strawberry, raspberries, even cherries!) with usual powdered sugar coating or on whole wheat! They do iced (maple, chocolate, sprinkles) donuts. One of their best donuts is the dutchies with raisins and a butter tart filling! Went on a day a client had started the Pay-it-forward for half-dozen and we kept it going, it was such a nice thing to note from their caring clients.
Amazing donuts with 50% fat of regular donuts. Great to chat with the owner about the history and success of their business. The Black Forest donut in the refrigerator was delicious. Also loved the whole wheat coconut crunch donut. Highly recommend.
Very interesting place. Some donuts were different... a "good" different. For instance, my favorite, the chocolate coconut, tasted familiar and perfect! The mango filled tasted foreign and perfect. I am glad to have tried them all. The mango filling donut was darn near like eating a fresh mango. If only mango donuts grew on trees! Definitely give this place a try. I will be going back to sample more.
