Review Pho Metro - Ajax

Emereina P.
My family and I have been eating here for a long time. The name was previously Pho Metro (which is nothing compared to the real Pho Metro in Scarborough; BEST EVER). I recently bought takeout and was not pleased at all. I have never had Vermicelli with grilled beef served with the most thinnest slices of beef and just coated with a sauce. I am very shocked to have been served with this beef. I don’t know what Vietnamese resto serves thinly and stingy sliced beef like this but this is just a disgrace. I also ordered two kinds of soup; the taste and meat/ingredients was mediocre. They put two tiny small meatballs with my soup order… on top of this the container they used for the HOT soup was so cheap that the soup seeped through it. Everything about my order was just a joke and cheap. The prices have gone up which I don’t mind but the quality of their food is a terrible.

Their House Special steam rice dish is disgrace to Vietnamese cuisine. I have never seen a chicken steak look that awful. None of the chicken, pork, beef nor shrimp were grilled nor marinated properly 👎👎👎 Their deep fried shrimp and pork spring rolls were cooked for too long : outside was rock-hard instead crispy 👎👎 Avoid this place. Terrible.

Saddest viet food I’ve had, coming from a viet person too. Fish sauce is bland, if I order a rice dish I expect the actual meat and not tiny bits and pieces. For $15 you’d expect for it to even taste decent comparing to the surrounding viet owned vietnamese restaurants. The service was mediocre at best, with the waitress waiving our family off in a dead restaurant.

Best Pho in Durham! Clean restaurant & friendly service. :) Big size difference between medium and large pho so just get large!

Great place for Vietnamese Pho food in Ajax. Located Salem and Taunton Rd, Friendly service. All of our local restaurants have been hit hard during Co-Vid 19, Please support our local restaurants

Pho was good and reasonable priced. Our food came out within minutes of ordering, almost too fast... But everything was steaming hot and cooked so it wasn't like they had it sitting their premade. Would go back again if I was in the area. @bikingtogetfood

A hidden gem to eat a nice bowl of Pho. Located in a plaza near Metro, Shoppers Drug Mart and the LCBO; quick, easy and affordable to eat at. Another option for an affordable date night!!

Very happy to have a pho spot in Ajax! The food was delicious and the service was very quick.

Decent place to curb my pho craving! Broth was a bit light but overall tasted delicious. The marinated meat and crispy spring rolls with the vermicelli were super yummy!

Excellent pho, spring rolls and chicken satay. The staff speaks minimal English and the prices are slightly higher than other pho places I've been to. Nice sit in dining room and quick take out.

The pho here is delicious, and all of the food generally arrives pretty quickly. Last time I went though my friend and I both ordered smoothies, which we had to ask for at the end of our meal. No apology, we were just told they were "busy". We were ready to leave by the time we got them.

Has house special vermicelli. Fresh, plentiful, prompt friendly service. Nothing bad to say at all!

Great place for Vietnamese food. This location is more modern and open and the service remains great. Flavours are pretty much the same as their other location at warden and Lawrence except the serving sizes are slightly smaller. But all in all definitely a fan of their food!

Delicious! Searching for years for this place!. My husband and I went there last night when the kitchen was almost going to close, but it was still busy at 9:30 pm and the kept bringing out the delicious food. Yum! We each had bun- a vermicelli bowl. Hubby stuck with his favourite chicken (lemongrass) and I got the pork, beef and shrimp on sugarcane because I wanted to try their meats. We were blown away by the quality of the savoury marinade, BBQ flavour, and tenderness with very little fat. Tears came to my eyes.. was this the restaurant I had been searching 8 years for? Ever since I moved out to Durham, I missed Mimi's Vietnamese on Gerrard St. in Chinatown East. This place rivals Mimi's in terms of their BBQ meats and their homemade spring rolls. One big note I have to make though is that I had to ask for items like the sauce, Thai basil, crushed peanuts and minced spring onion- fresh mint was already provided. They happily provided this for no extra charge and explained that when they first opened, they provided all of these items with the dish but then suburban customers complained about not wanting spring onion in the vermicelli, not liking Thai basil, and customers were concerned about peanut allergy. To set the story straight, they have blanded down at the request of customers! So feel free to request the works as you are used to- they are really delighted that you know their food! Another note is that we have been trying out Vietnamese restaurants around Durham and York Region and all have Thai basil but no mint, meats are bland and not prepared properly at other restaurants. Go ahead and give Pho Metro a try, but feel welcome to request your meal customized to your developed palate- they are very happy to oblige!

Worst service mediocre food. <br/>This place is as full as a play ground on a rainy day, yet they can't manage orders. This place is not a real pho restaurant. The broth has no flavor. I ordered satay beef soup and I got regular with a lump of chilli paste on the top. Noodles are never fresh either. Waited 45 mins for soup then another 20 for spring rolls. What?? And I could be wrong but these folks aren't even Vietnamese.

Delicious and priced right!

When we heard Ajax had a Pho restaurant, my wife and I had to check it out. We grew up in Scarboro so living out in Ajax the past three yrs left us craving for Pho. I'm glad to say they did not disappoint. The portions were good, food was fresh, and everything was flavourful. Had the house special vermicelli and beef noodle soup. To top it off, the restaurant was lean and had a great ambience.

Asian abandoned lease and this place moved in. Decor is the same, just the sign changed. We ordered a beef soup and tom yum soup. The beef soup arrived, it was rather underseasoned and too pricey for Vietnamese. My tom yum soup never arrived. The waiter kept apologizing each time he passed by, but still, no food after 40 min. We paid for one meal and walked over to Subway. Crossing this off my list.
