Review Thong La's Restaurant - Abbotsford

We used to order Chinese food from here all the time. Lately they put so much oil on the chicken chow mein that you can't even taste the chow mein and it makes the chicken chow mein taste really gross

I got a menu in the mail from this place and couldn't believe the price. Thought there is no way it could be good but my gf and I are very impressed! A dinner for 3 for like 20$ less than Jasmine Garden. Everything was delicious fresh and thr quality was awesome. Definitely will be ordering here from now on!

I used to call this food good. Now its an oily mess. Only thing they got mostly right was the Chicken Balls. The noodles were so oily, that is all you taste. Usually for 2 dishes, I paid$16 in the past. Now I paid $24 for the same food. I wouldn't have minded if the quality of the food stayed the same. Is it supposed to make you feel sickly and feel like you drank a bottle of oil for supper? I think NOT! definitely do not recommend any more... Stan...

I wanted to give this place a try because we were new to the area, we thought maybe it was going to be a hidden nice high quality place. Right away we found a hair or string ( we're not too sure) in our sweet and sour pork. We ate this regardless of the contaminant found in our food. The sweet and sour pork was very dry It was almost like it was old and just had sauce put on it. Overall we weren't impressed and will not be returning.

I ordered the honey ginger beef, but instead I got thinly sliced beef with half cooked vegetables and raw ginger slices in a butter sauce that tasted like theater popcorn butter. Really regret walking almost 40 minutes there and back to eat this disaster. Won't be coming back

12.30.21 still great takeout good value. November 2017. Prices went up $8 a plate for every dish, order the Thong La's special dishes very flavorful. Four dishes feed 7 people. Lunch $5.50. Family-run restaurant. Good food. One low price for All dishes. We order and pick up and eat in .No substitute on lunches bad form. Mother who runs still grumpy. Service not great. We like the place needs better service

This is an old menu. The food is excellent  and the restaurant is clean as a whistle. However, the dishes are now $7.35 a piece not $6.49. The servings are generous so it is still a very good price.

I have eaten take out here many times. I normally get it delivered but decided to pick it up. Just so you are aware, the build/up keep is terrible. It smells like they smoke in it, the walls are dirty, and ceiling is stained. <br/> This is only the entrance where they are "ok" with this presentation so you can only imagine the kitchen.<br/> I picked up my order and drove across town to find out they still had part of my order. I ended up driving back across town to pick it up. They didn't seem to care about the inconvenience, and why would they.<br/> In the food that I had picked up, inside contained human hair. Not just 1 but 4. 2 long hairs and 2 curly black ones.<br/> It was so nasty to find it in our dinner. <br/>Just beware.

I have tried 8 Chinese restaurants in the valley between mission and Abbotsford and been disappointed each time. This place was the first time I've had good Chinese food since moving to the valley (2 years). The price $6.50 per dish is outstandingly reasonable and every dish we tried (wonton soup and 5 others) was delicious. I would highly recommend this place. I ordered take out and walked in to be greated by a rude waitress so I knew it was going to be authentic!!! I'm not ordering here to make friends I am more concerned with good food and that was provided

What the heck happened??. When they 1st opened we really liked the food and you couldn't beat the $5.95 per everything item. The food was always delivered fast, hot and very good, but last night... terrible.. it was barely warm, and the food had no taste. Even the won ton soup was bland. It seem that after the price was raised the food suffered in quality and in quantity. Wont be eating here anymore!!!!

Shame on you!!. My family have been long time customers at this restaurant, but as of tonight no longer. They refused to give my husband plum sauce for his deep fried prawns, stating that they only give plum sauce for egg rolls. When my husband asked if they were willing to blow off a $40 order for a few packets she said yes!!! Will never be going there again.

Amazing food. Amazing portion sizes. Amazing prices. I am new to the Abbotsford area, but will definitely be a repeat customer. Also very friendly people that work there

Wonderful. We drove from Mission to see if the reviews were right. Quiet on a Monday night and super delicious food. Best food for reasonable price. Ordered 3 plates and soup. $30-$35. And I have lunch tomorrow. We will be back.

This place really is awesome for it's excellent selection and unrealisticly low prices($6.49 for any dish) they make the best Singapore vermiclli east of Vancouver if you've eaten this before somewhere else you know what I'm talking about if not you got to try it.

Way to go, Thong La!. Best hot and sour soup in the valley, especially for $5.95. Singapore noodles also very good with lots of shrimp. Best value lunch in town. Pleasant service.

Good food & good value. Clean & quiet. Maybe a bit slow, but worth the wait.

Please tell me this isn't the best in abbotsford. MSG, greasy, some of the beef was off. Cheap yes. Cheap yes. I don't want this in my body.

Couldn't be happier!. We needed to feed a party of 40 for a birthday party hosted in a Hall. Thong La did an AMAZING job. They brought the food to the party on time (even though we had changed the delivery time on them a couple of times), they packaged the food in a way that made it easy for us to serve a large number of people....and most importantly, the food was GREAT. It looked appetizing and tasted fresh and delicious. We received many, many compliments on the food from our guests. And I would definitely order from them again. 100% satisfied!!

Good value and decent food for the very cheap price. $5.95 for everything is great!

Food was excellent and everything was $5.95. Ordered four items and with pickup discount was $24 with taxes. Wonton soup was very good and large. It's located in a shady old plaza mall, but it's now my too go spot for Chinese. These items would be $8-$12 per item at other spots and not as good. No point in getting the combo dinners , as it's so reasonable to order individual items.

Update 6/18/15<br/>They've raised their prices to $6.49/plate, but who cares? Fed a family of 3 adults, plus had enough leftovers for hubby's lunch for work the next day, for $30. The food is still fantastic. LOVE this place<br/><br/>---------------------------------------------------<br/>OHHH YUMMM. Who can possibly beat $5.95 for everything on the menu.<br/>We ordered deep fried prawns - for $5.95 - and got 15 of them! The sweet and sour pork is AWESOME. Almond chicken - 3 breasts for $5.95. And the mushroom chop suey. We also tried the spring roll...VERY YUMMY and the egg roll, which was good, but not fabulous like other things.<br/><br/>Our new favorite Chinese place in Abbotsford. Not sure we'll be going anywhere else ever again.<br/><br/>We fed 3 people for $32 for DINNER!

Good quality with low price. I have ordered chinese food for a long time. Recently, Thong la Restaurant became my best chocie for chinese food. For others' chinese restaurants, they just mix the soy sauce and hot water to make the soup, and it's a common problem for Chinese Restaurant in Abbotsford . But i saw the Chef Thong was using the chicken legs to make the soup. It's absolutely different taste from the soy sauce soup. And i was surprised when i pay the bills. Everything is $5.95. I have to say Thong la Restaurant is my best chocie for chinese food.

Neato. My dad had been there a few times and really enjoyed himself, so we both went tonight. When you're served each dish, each of which seems to come out as soon as it's prepared, they give you a big plate full; I reckon it's enough to easily split between four people.<br/><br/>We got wonton soup, chicken wings, poutine, spicy boneless pork ribs (I think..? Something like that) and some plain rice.<br/>The folks across from us had ordered wonton soup as well, after we did. When ours came out they exclaimed "Is that how big it is?!"<br/>Haha.<br/><br/>The food was all quite nice and I'm not even that big on Chinese-style food.<br/><br/>Everything on their regular menu is 5.95 as of this writing, no matter what it is. They have another menu for special slightly more unusual and more expensive items (BBQ duck is so goooood).<br/><br/>Fine service. No pestering. Few staff but friendly and well-mannered. I don't know if they have backup; I could see it getting a little hectic if it filled up, though it's a fairly small joint anyway.<br/><br/>Give it a shot, folks. Not bad at all. I will certainly be returning.

By far the best Chinese food I'm Abbotsford! Authentic food, so much taste, over 100 dishes.
