Review Moxie's Grill & Bar - Abbotsford

We moved to the Seattle area almost 4 months ago from Texas and have been pretty home sick for good food and service while eating out. It’s been so disappointing that we just quit eating out altogether. Today we visited Canada for the first time ever and instead of going to Vancouver, we decided to check out what Abbotsford had to offer. After an evening at a local casino, we decided it was time to eat. Honestly I was dreading it because all I’ve experienced is overpriced food and mediocre service everywhere we have eaten since moving to Seattle. I cannot even describe the pleasant surprise we found in Moxie’s. It started when the very friendly bartender let us choose our seat and quickly presented us with menus. He promised someone would be over right away to serve us. Meaghan soon followed and from the moment she showed up at our table we knew we made the perfect dining choice. She made excellent suggestions on several different menu items. We chose the table side guacamole but since we are from Texas and are well-versed in guacamole making, we saved her the grief of having to make it table side. We just wanted good guacamole and she didn’t disappoint here. I had the New York strip with the peppercorn brandy sauce and it was by far THE single best meal I’ve had in a restaurant in 4 months. My husband had the salmon and avocado cobb salad and ate almost every bit of it. Meaghan kept our drinks full - his hard lemonade and my Dr. Pepper because I was driving. I contemplated getting a drink but she did a fantastic job of convincing me how bad it is to risk a DUI in Canada (apparently it’s a felony there) so I played it safe. Big kudos to her for that. She is really good - no, GREAT - at her job. We never felt like she was intruding and she would stay just long enough to chat and then would go on about her business. The manager on duty even came by to chat for a few. We didn’t catch her name but we just raved about our experience and how great Meaghan was. These Texas guys are very thankful for Moxie’s because we had completely given up on decent places to eat out. If the owners read this please take good care of these folks because they are truly an asset to your company. World-class service, high-end and trendy atmosphere, and the perfect medley of flavors in the food will guarantee our return.

Moxies is a beautiful facility, but unfortunately that's the only good thing. It's the worst restaurant in Abbotsford in every other way. The service and food are consistently horrible. I gave it many tries, but on my last visit, I found multiple long hairs in my food, and the didn't care. The staff and management don't show that they care for people in any way. I would vote zero stars if I could.

Great place for lunch, quiet and relaxing. It seems no one has caught on to this place for lunch so service is quick, food is good, house wine is decent. It's been a while since I have been there so a few new items on the menu for me. I had the Mediterranean dip with flat bread and it was great. A wonderful hummus with garlic cream, tomatoes etc. I thought the portion was perfect for lunch along with a glass of the house red of course.

Beautiful place, but service was slow. She forgot to put our order in the system. Forgot our drinks. The broccoli looked old and tired. Potatoes served with no sauce or offer of sour cream etc. Steak was adequate. Overall the food and service did not match the price. This was over second try. Don't be going back until we hear good things. On the upside, no wait. Almost no customers at 730 on a Friday night.

Horrible service. Our server forgot multiple requests until he was reminded. Also very, very slow despite not being busy. Our food was warm at best as it sat while waiting for our server to remember to bring it. Small portions for the price. Both steaks ordered were under cooked. We will definitely not be back.

The food had always been good here! We had a big party here with the dental offices in town and we rented out half the restaurant! Even with all the people our drinks and the appies going around everything was amazing! The quality control was amazing. Because everything that came out was just delicious! I was very impressed by this because a lot of times when you have a massive group the quality of everything goes way way down but they did a fantastic job!

The girls are sweet here, although I only made a few takeout orders while staying in the connecting hotel. Food was alright!! I had the chicken and ribs, and ahi tuna salad. I would give this place a 3.5 if I could! I like the atmosphere though! Big screens to watch any events.

I came in with some friends the other afternoon and we were pleasantly surprised. The host was friendly and professional. Raven was our server and was a breath of fresh air. She had great food recommendations and made the best cocktails for all of us. We can't wait to come back for another great experience and to visit our new favorite server in town!

I have to say I was quite impressed. We were there last night for my sisters birthday dinner. Was our first time there. We have three children 5 and under with us. My twin girls who are almost 4 have dairy, egg and peanut allergies. We have never in their lives been able to order off a menu for them. For the first time in their little lives they were able to order. They had the chicken with jasmine rice. The manager was exceptional and brought over the food himself and assured us it was cooked and prepared as to not having any cross contamination. Unless you have a child with allergies you don't know how exciting this truly was. The waitress and staff were fantastic. Thank you for an excellent experience ��

Was a great experience. Service fast seated immediately even on a Saturday at dinner time .appetizers quick to the table as well as drinks.and main corse wonderful. Server was attentive bit not a neusence. Overall I would recommend and return to Moxie's Abbotsford again.

We spent the weekend in Abbotsford at the Sandman and ate at Moxies 4 times...we thoroughly enjoyed the food and the service was fantastic...the staff all seem to be extremely qualified and very friendly...our family brunch there today was extremely delicious. Keep up the good work.

Poor service, waited forever for drinks, asked for half honey garlic and half hot and instead they put honey garlic on my hot wings,meal wasn't very good, waited for refills that never came, just an overall bad experience.

An hour and a half to get our food. It was crap and overpriced. Steak was dry as boot leather. Save your money this is garbage

I've never had a bad experience at Moxies. Chicken and Rib combo is great as is the New York steak with all the right accompaniments. We have gone to Moxies on our anniversary every year since 2010 ~~

We had a 35 person Bday there this past Saturday night. The manager was awesome , the service was perfect and the food was incredible !! Thank you so much for making the night perfect for my finances Bday.

What a revelation! Upon entering we were greeted by an adonus of a man, with the welcoming charm of santa claus and the voice of British royalty. His gaze met mine and I was instantly hungry and aroused at the same time. He recommended the ribs which as he described them, melted in the mouth and I couldn't help imagine him doing the same. The beer was refreshing and clean which helped stem my nerves in the presence of that man god. I would go back a million times and really recommend asking for the British manager if you want ALL of your senses titillated. The wings are pretty good too.

(Real time review; written at 7:35pm) DON’T BOTHER. First time ever setting foot in the door. Went to meet a couple of friends at 6:30pm and was given a menu straight away. The server brought my friends their second round and she looked right at me before walking away without asking if I wanted anything. It took her 10 more minutes and another person to join the temporary table for her to come back to ask. One of the second round drinks was a Caesar and the reciepient mentioned that it was severely lacking in garnish, being completely naked compared to the first on she had. The fourth person in the party waited nearly 15 min for her ordered Caesar, again arriving with no garnish.<br/>When we finally got seated, the server reappeared about half hour later and we were told that the kitchen was “running out of food and it’s about a 45 minute wait to get anything”. Needless to say, having had a reservation for 5:30 PM and not getting a table, my friends were justifiably angry. The only solution that was offered was a $50 gift certificate for the “next time” and the drinks being covered. The manager didn’t even come over himself to explain or to offer apologies. I was told there would be no “next time” if that was the standard of service. As we were leaving, we met up with another party of about six, who had actually ordered food and they were told the same thing. They said they were not going to return either. So, do yourself a favour and go across the parking lot to Denny’s.

Pleasant atmosphere and good food! The tacos seemed quite bland which was a disappointment, but because of that the server ended up taking 10% off our bill which was really nice!

While our trip to Victoria and my restaurant reviews for BC have come to end, I couldn't help but thinking about a recent business trip to Abbotsford that had me staying at the Sandman and therefore Moxie's was close by (in the parking lot) and I'd be remiss if I didn't comment on the great food that I enjoyed there.

HORRIBLE MANAGEMENT. Suggesting all the wonderful servers go else where for a job they deserve. Management was unbelievably rude and unorganized.

Overall I'd say this is your typical mid range corporate dining restaurant. Nothing brilliant to write home about. I don't think I'd spend the money on a full meal again, but I would definitely come back for the sticky toffee pudding!

Alright, average food, kinda pricey considering the quality

Worst restaurant experience ever!. Traveled in from Calgary and stayed at the Sandman to take another couple out for dinner, they suggested Moxie's for the convenient location. Our list starts with the waitress accidentally<br/>tipping a glass of wine as she jestured to tell us about the menu. The glass broke and she brought napkins for us to the clean up wine and shards of glass all the while denying it was her fault but did replace it "on the house". When the food came we noticed there were no utensils or napkins, food now cooled. We soon discovered that two of four black cloth napkins were dirty having been bundled up without being washed from previous diner - how gross is that? Full stop on any eating at that stage, I pointed out the napkins and asked for the manager and the waitress snatched the napkins away before the manager could see them. Fortunately the manager was a very professional young lady and looked after everything at no cost to us. Absolutely unbelievable!

HORRIBLE food and service!!!. I travel from Victoria to Abbotsford monthly for training for work. I always stay at the Sandman Inn, and the Moxie's is so convenient. I have never had outstanding food, but usually the food has been OK with good service. Tonight, a work colleague and I went for dinner. The steak was overcooked, there was cartilage and grissle all throughout our $30 New York steak, and the enchiladas lacked any flavour. The service was horrible. Our waitress was new (so no fault to her) and was being trained by a more "experienced" waitress. The new waitress was FAR better than the "experienced" one. After complaining to the manager, and having the waitress roll her eyes at us, the issues were not resolved. She refused to attend the table, ask us if we wanted more drinks, tea/coffee, etc. The sad reality is, I come every 2 months with Corrections Canada and stay at the Sandmann for 2 weeks at a time, and am on travel status (meals all paid), and they have lost out on a TON of business, as I will pass the word through Corrections Canada to not eat here. I have another week and a half to go on training and will NOT be back!!

Once a year regulars. I travel from Alberta to visit family in the area once a year and take my mother out to dinner. Three visits ago we discovered Moxies and mom loved it there so much that we have become "regulars" and once again we weren't disappointed. The service right from the start was friendly and we felt very well cared for. Our server knew the menu well and gave great suggestions. During the meal she attended regularly without us feeling intruded upon. As for the food? I ordered the chicken and ribs while my mother ordered her usual selection, an appetizer meal. Everything was great and I can't recall any part of the meal I would have changed one bit. I ordered a soft drink but mom ordered a red wine suggested by our server which was a real winner with mom. Can't say enough good things. We both liked the low lighting. My personal preference is for the music to be a tad lower but having said that it was nowhere near as loud as other restaurants in the area and neither of us felt it intruded on our conversation at all. All in all I would say we had a fabulous evening again and you can bet we will be returning same time next year. Thanks to all the crew for an excellent job.

Wont go back. The restaurant is nice the service from our waitress was great but the food was less than good. The rigatoni was very under cooked and when we sent it back the manager actually told us she tried it and it was cooked perfectly! It was still hard not just chewy! A better approach would have been to admit it was seriously under cooked and replace it, don't treat me like I'm some stupid person that doesn't know what they are talking about I owned a restaurant for 25 years! Steak was tasteless and over cooked and stuffed potato was barely warm. Not the servers fault she was great so tipped her well but the food sucked.

Went on a Saturday night with 20-25 work friends. Enjoying our wine and visiting and food was very delicious. My only complaint was I ordered specifically gluten free yet they put croutons on my Caesar salad!?!?! And naan bread beside my rice bowl. Not an allergy but they need to pay attention to that kind of stuff! The other end of our table had poor/slow service (not that WE knew!) and the manager (a new GM I believe) comped ALL our food, we just paid for our drinks and of course tipped very well! They also got a round of shooters for everyone, brought several bottles of wine to the table and gave us gift certificates for free applies when we come back. And most of us will most likely be back because of how they worked very hard to, well, suck up! Works for me!!!

First time at Moxie's for Brunch. Excellent service and excellent food. Will definitely recommend and we will be back.

The wings are the best! Finish your meal with the white chocolate brownie. Its really good. Me and my gf were impressed by the service and friendliness of the waitresses.

Went there for the first time tonight and I felt like I was in a VERY dim lit bedroom. It was so dark in there. Waitresses/Waiters were very kind but 3 different ones told us about the specials pretty much one after the other. I'm happy to listen to the specials but once is enough! Felt like they were at our table way too much, asking how our meal was by again multiple waiters/waitresses. Asked to have a vegetable removed from my order and yet it was still on there but I understand that happens at times, it wasn't an allergy so not the end of the world. As for the food, I had the classic burger and it was really good as well as the fries and I find the pricing very fair. Overall, it wasn't too bad but please PLEASE turn up your lights in the dining room, I felt like falling asleep!

Finally!. I'm so glad that Moxies descided to build a location in Abbotsford. I have enjoyed their food, atmosphere, and service time and time again at alot of their locations. The staff at Abbotsford show alot of integrity , You can see they really enjoy there work, it shows through the outstanding service, food quality, and the atmosphere they have created for the people of abbotsford. I think if you are the kind of person who loves great food, great people, and want a great place to relax with friends or family take them to Moxies. Its a great alternative to most of the restaurants in Abbotsford, i definately recommend it!

Diden. Decor is great nicest restaurant in abbotsford. reasonable $68 for 2 incl wine and a $5 appy dessert add on food was good, one in our group had the sirloin steak and he said one of the best crab cakes were good as well, service excellent. I had veal meatballs which were good

Overpriced, small portions, below average service during busy times. club sandwhich has nasty deli meat on it, manager admitted it was a menu item that's not great and they are working on sourcing new meat for the item. Steaks not cooked to order and the. Refired same steak and burned it. Hoping they get the kinks worked out, good atmosphere and drinks.
